you can't read too much into Mourinho's comments, he's a master at deflecting attention

Why Chelsea for God's sake? Why are all these Germans moving there of all places? Sure, the money, but it's not like it's the only club with resources, hell it's not even the only club in England.

Chelsea are the second most attractive club to join in England after United right now, especially if Mourinho returns. Back to back European winners, CL qualification secured, can pay big money on wages, situated in London, could be on the rise again.

Especially if Mourinho returns it'll be the least attractive destination in England...
I know that by 'objective' criteria, they are an attractive club for a player to join - very good squad, more or less guarantee CL football, endless resources. But football isn't just about objective criteria. Besides, objectively speaking, working under Mourinho isn't necessarily the best for young talented players, especially creative ones. Fortunately for Gomez though, he doesn't fit in that bracket...

Mourinho to be appointed Chelsea manager within next fortnight
Real Madrid have confirmed the 50-year-old will leave the Bernabeu at the end of the current season, paving the way for him to return to Stamford Bridge after a six-year absence

You're just too romantic about something that for them is a job. Salary and working conditions are often more important than a company's reputation. If I was German, getting paid a lot and living in London would be more attractive to me than getting paid less and living in Manchester, even though my companies reputation may not be as good. If it doesn't work out I can always move to another company in London, but the options are more limited in Manchester.

Nothing wrong with wanting to earn money. But as I said, it's not exactly the only place to earn money in England. London is great, but at the end of the day, a footballer should be most concerned with his career (which, if properly planned, secures them a steady and long lasting income), not the beauty of the location he's playing at, otherwise Liverpool would have never attracted anyone outside the radius of 20 miles.

You can't compare normal jobs to football. Idiot.

Have you ever been to Liverpool? Better than a lot of places in Germany.

Fortunately for him he won't have to worry about any Casillas' and Ramos' at Chelsea. Even Rafa did not come under criticism from the fans (or media) for benching the likes of Terry, Lampard and Cole.

Barcelona vice-president Carles Vilarrubi on Mourinho http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/10087465/Jose-Mourinho-will-be-a-disaster-at-Chelsea-claims-Barcelona-vice-president-Carles-Vilarrubi.html
"It is not good for English football. Chelsea maybe think they had a good time from him in the past, but you will see the real Mourinho now.
"If he behaves like he did in Spain it will only be an unhappy relationship. A disaster. And at his age he is not going to change.
"My position is not because he was the coach of a rival, but because of who he is and what he did. His three years in Spain he only creates disagreements, arguments. There is nothing positive he brings.
"You can learn good things about life from watching people in football, or the circus, or the opera. There was nothing he brought that was good. There was no positive balance. I cannot see anything good about him. Not one thing. In sporting terms, maybe I am not the person to ask. But in cultural terms, he was a disaster.
"Apart from his aggression to the coach of Barca, the ambience he creates everywhere he goes, the relations with the players, with the press, are absolutely terrible. I am happy that he is leaving. And so is everyone in Spanish football.
"I am just glad he has gone. I am not interested in him. Go leave, goodbye."

And even they weren't as bad as Jose portrayed it.
I'm sure he will be much better behaved though, after all his two passions in life are Chelsea and Inter.

Luckily for Jose even Benitez wasn't ridiculed by the players and fans for benching the big names like Cole, Lampard and Terry, so he shouldn't have issues of players thinking they are too important to be benched

Which player did this at Madrid?
I wonder though if he will still have their support if he starts blaming them publicly when something goes wrong. Oh I'm sure Essien will still be first in line to suck his "daddy's" c0ck. But what about the rest? Heard an interview on Sky with Ray Wilkins and he said the reason the Chelsea players love him so much is that Jose backed them, always backed them in public. Well this was not his practice at Real Madrid so you can see why relations deteriorated but even at that Pepe was the only one who ever spoke out against Jose.

You know which player(s) at Madrid thought they were too important to be benched.
As for defending players, one of the key reasons for his success at Chelsea and Inter was his ability to unite the players and the fans. Sure, there were a couple of players at each club who had issues with him (Crespo, Balotelli...) but many of his players would have run through brick walls for him. Even at Porto, some of his key players followed him to Chelsea.
It's interesting that the only club where he didn't appear to truly win over the fans is Real - a club which has been divided over every one of its managers for the last 10 years.

Casillas never said a word about being benched, if that is who you are referring to. Not a single word.
Of course the fans were divided over Jose - although not seriously until this year. The style you can like more or less but when you lose to your biggest rival 5-0, are constantly going on about how much you want to return to England, poke a colleague in the eye, fail most of your objectives, and then go on to burn every bridge possible of course you are going to alienate players and fans.

Mourinho and Chelsea are a perfect match - an utter conte for a club full of utter contes. He's a great manager though and will no doubt win titles and a few cups with Chelsea again.
