Wasn't the point of selling Collins so you could buy a striker

Yeah...and Diamanti isn't even a striker. Apparently though, the Diamanti deal had gone through, knowing that we were selling Collins. So technically...Collins was sold days ago!

PETROV WANTED SPURS SWITCH
Martin Petrov's agent has revealed his client's disappointment at failing to secure a move to Tottenham.
Spurs were reported to be keen on striking a deal for the Manchester City winger as they look to counter the loss of Luka Modric to a broken leg.
Reports suggested Petrov would move to White Hart Lane in a deal which would see David Bentley moving in the opposite direction.
However, the proposed move broke down, with Petrov's representative Luchezar Taney claiming "Manchester City rejected the deal mainly due to manager Mark Hughes' unwillingness".
The failure to put an agreement in place has come as a disappointment to the players concerned, as both have struggled for regular football of late.
Tanev told Bulgarian radio station Darik: "I can say that Martin wanted to join Tottenham. You see that he has some problems at City and that's why he decided to look elsewhere and Spurs made an offer for him.
"But it's not the end of the world. He has one year of his contract left and we'll see after that."
Petrov will now focus his attention on forcing his way back into the fold at Manchester City, after a serious knee injury blighted his 2008/09 campaign.
------------------------------------
Damn right it's not the end of the World. Worst comes to worst his 30 year old client sits out a year getting paid an astronomical wage.
Glad we held onto Bentley. More so no one else can have him. Plus he'll be a good replacement if/when Lennon ever gets injured.

Pompey 13 players out 13 players in - spent about £10m and brought in £30m - and when you look at the squad now i think it shows. It doesnt look good at all, they have sold all their best players and brought in average ones to replace them.
Credit to Bruce he has got rid of a lot of shit (14 players ) and brought in some good players.
We have got rid of 18 players this summer BUT somehow Benjani looks like he has managed to stay, i bet he spent the day hiding with his phone off.
Burnley have done well £5m spent overall is fuck all but they have added a few decent players and i think can stay up.

Apparently we're tracking an out of contract striker to sign, great all we need again, an old cruddy 1 year signing, bleh Plus sounds we agreed a fee with bordaux, but Chamakh wouldn't agree to a transfer.

30 year old Petrov's wages are about half of what he could have expected to have been paid at Spuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurs and he'd have spent most of the season on the bench at whichever club he ended up at.

Levy isn't a rich Jew for nothing - a 30year old has little or no resale profit.
Biggest mistake by Levy was not using 'Arry's Portsmuff connections to sneak in and sign Glenn "Superman" Johnson before Pool did.
this time next year, not even £60 million will be enough to sign the new Cafu

Apparently Zola rang up Hughes and said "ive got a lovely bunch of a coconuts diddly dee now I need a massive piece of shit". It was a bit of a prank call..apparently Hughes took it seriously though and saw a chance to off load Benjani.
