I heard it in Marca. I've only heard of Diamé as some Premiership clubs were interested in signing him earlier in the season.

Guerrero could turn out to be a brilliant deal for Burnley, i watched him in pre season for Burnley and he looked class but then again the opposition was shit so time will tell.

Both Burnley and Wigan have spent with caution so far this summer but made so decent signings. I just think Burnley need a few more in to improve their chances of staying up.

    Bassong bound for The Lane

We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Newcastle United for the transfer of Sebastien Bassong to the Club, following the player successfully completing a medical examination and agreeing personal terms.

The defender moved to St James' Park in July 2008 from Metz where he made 79 appearances in three seasons.

The 23-year-old played 34 times for Newcastle last season in his debut campaign in the Premier League.

He's deffo a bit Rash, but our CB's were lacking a bit of speed/athleticism with King out and he was Newcy's standout performer last season.

Spurs spending up to £27m for the summer, they have spent pretty well with it tbh.

Spurs have good depth at the back with Woodgate, King, Bassong, Dawson for centre back, Corluka, McNoughton, Chimbonda, Hutton at right back (surley one of them will leave ) and Bale and Assou-Ekotto at left back. All they need to do is get a new left back and there defence will be very solid. I guess Bale isnt terrible...but he is a jinx.

If they could re-sign Carrick then they'd have a pretty sorted and well able team. I think they need someone who can offer someone from central midfield assuming Modric is going to continue cutting in from the left.

Bale is fantastically talented & athletic, he just can't defend for shit, like how Glen Johnson was 3-4 years ago. I don't want to let him go like Chelsea did to Johnson 'cos when he does develop someone will have an excellent attacking LB on their hands, maybe loaning him to a lower mid-table EPL club would do him good.

Well did he want to come?
There's also a matter of Bassong only asking for one fourth of Huntelaar wages (that's where the real money in football is, not transfer fees) and that we don't need a striker but certainly needed a centre back.

i.e Wigan, Bolton, stoke... teams that are only in the EPL just to survive. Pompey were a decent side for the most part with Johnson there.

I mentioned this at the end of last season, but the Premier League has gotten to a stage where nearly half the division now fall under the "happy to survive" banner:

    CL 4
Europa 4 (City, Villa, Everton, Spurs)
    ----------------------------------------------
    West Ham
    Sunderland with their new money
Fulham (their squad is not looking in great shape so Hodgson has a tough job on his hands

    Bolton
    Stoke
    Wigan
    Hull
    Blackburn

Wigan, Bolton and Blackburn might have outside hopes of a European spot, but realistically that's about right.
