Or you are a liar with your made up £25m that maybe could have been spent possibly in a summer that was perhaps the year before we signed him.

£20m odd.
Was a bargain in reality.
Don't forget the exchange rates were different back then...
£20m back then equals 30m now

what a silly argument
It wouldn't suprise me if the truth was closer to £20m + Luis Garcia.
Whatever it was, it was lovely.

Rafa would quote Torres fee lower than the actual fee, because he is always complaining Liverpool have no money to spend.
Man Utd were after Torres the summer before and if the deal had gone through then it would have been around £25m and not £20m that Liverpool fans think they got him for.

Liverpool shattered their transfer record to sign Fernando Torres and unveiled the £26.5million forward in July 2007.

Quite frankly we could have paid £40m for him, wouldn't make any difference, hes is still the best striker in the world
The fact he made is clear he had no desire to go to the mancs just makes the transfer all that bit more sweet.
Roll on No19..

Don't bite your chin off to spite your face Rosicky now...
How many games did Torres play in last season? fancy checking his goals per game ratio Chinston? thought not... that would mean you actually analysing this objectively, now that really would be a step too far!!
You'd chew through your face to have Torres at the Emirates, and if you say you wouldn't your more full of shit than a muck spreader.
You don't rate Torres? fine, don't really care to be honest! We'll just keep him then huh? sounds good to me... you can keep RV(broken)P and Adeba(i deserve more money)yor, Theo(pace merchant) Walcott etc...
Hell i'd have Kuyt over all of them Good luck battling for that 4th spot next season

sure:
last season league goals
Villa 33 games = 28 goals
Torres 24 games = 11 goals
International record is interesting as well, has to be a fair comparison as they both play for Spain.
Villa 30 goals in 46 games
Torres 22 goals in 64 games

As usual the best WUMing needs to be based in truth....it doesn't have to be *all* true though...
(I do indeed think that Rafa should have done better with this material and I do think Man U has gotten some help from the refs)

So you suggest we should be glory hunters then?
We actually support our club Axe thanks, we see progress and are happy with how the team is performing.
We'll keep Benitez thanks, not even 50 yet and is recognised as one of the best managers in the world, plenty of time for trophies

Football Genius wrote:

I have absolutely no problem with that, yet the incredible underrating of Kuijt (by more than 50% of the Liverpool fans) is pissing me off no end.
My only point was that you can't have it both ways : you can't claim that Benitez is one of the best managers in the world, that Torres is the best striker in the world and Stevie G the best midfielder in the world....*and* getting nowhere near winning anything at the same time (no : you were never real contenders for the title).

He needs a new assistant who knows how to win in the league, but I wouldn't trade him either.

Re: Liverpool FC 09/10
Well the reason perhaps may have something to do with the fact Stevie G and Fernando played only a handful of games together last season, due to injuries. So our two world class players rarely ever featured together.
Our NEW assistant manager Sammy Lee IMO, is one of the reasons we actually mounted some kind of title challenge last season, he brings the old school of Liverpools roots into this new style Liverpool set up, whilst Benitez keeps players at arms length, Sammy is the god cop in this regime. Seems to have worked very well.
We'll be there or there abouts next season, because we missed SG and FT last season we are looking to address this with an attacking purchase - so next season we can't use this an excuse, and if executed well and the right calibre of player comes in, i doubt we'll need excuses.
Liverpool are very much the team in momentum in the EPL at the moment, we've not peaked yet... you better believe it

Reports in Spanish papers today that Madrid have bid 35m euros (30m pounds) for Mascherano.
Assuming this is true, what will Benitez do? 30m is a lot of money...would you guys accept it? And would you take any Madrid players in exchange? VDV or Sneijder?
