They are favourites indeed. What would the Dutch league be without that Englander...?

I have to say my Belgian friend who kept raving about Ruiz was correct. Spectacular assist to Kuffo last night. I haven't seen too many full games with Ruiz (usually extended highlights) but he always seems to score important goals and show up when he's most needed. There was an article in El Pais recently linking him with Sevilla and he might be a good fit there.

I remember you posted that and was like..well not really sure. Watched him once in Belgium and was not really special but it seems your Belgian friend was right afterall. Still lacks the pace for the real top, but Sevilla would be an excellent choice.

How far down Eredivisie has fallen. Shocked
McClaren is leading the league with Twente by a clear 4 pts. Shocked
Are you Dutchies concerned about the state of affairs of your Eredivisie?
None of your teams survived the round of 32 in the Europa league. They all got KO. The CL is a dream for the Eredivisie nowadays, forget about it.

Not long ago, the Eredivisie with Hiddink at the helm and Farfán scoring them money goals for PSV reached the CL semifinal giving an IN FORM Milan all they can handle and then some.

Now it's McClaren leading the league! WOW! Shocked

It has become pretty dire I must admit, a few years ago I predicted it would go to a level as in Belgium..

Top clubs cant hold their players long enough, and provincial clubs went on a rise since the Jews paid massive for all their players.

Dont forget that competition outside got better as well, Russia, Turkey etc.

But all doom and gloom? Nay, according to the Rotterdam-Lima connection Joel Sánchez Alegria, the magical guinea pig from my boys Alianza, will sign for PSV. WOW! Eredivisie 2010/2011 - Page 26 Icon_eek

McLaren is continuing what fred rutten in Twente (right hand of Hiddink 2005) set up. It's a well organised club and on the transfer market they did very well with Brian Ruiz and Stoch after they sold Elia (HSV) and Arnautovic (Inter).

The state of the Eredivisie is very concerning indeed. There is no money while clubs spent too much over the years. When you are slowly losing market value but the fans and media don't accept the reality, Member of the Boards come under an immense pressure to invest and to make huge gambles. This is what more or less has happened. Moneywise we also cannot compete with countries like Ukraine, Turkey and Russia anymore.

Since the CL is only worth for the big markets and the lesser markets can only lose from it, it was pretty obvious this had to happen. It was already a miracle for PSV they reached the semis of the CL in 2005 and that AZ reached the semis in the UEFA Cup 2005.

Look at Ajax, they sold Huntelaar and Babel for loads of money but on the other hand they invested that in the wrong players. Ajax are on the way back but they can only do that because they've got players out of their own academy. On the other hand, these players will leave the club within one or two years. This way it is not possible to build a team for the future.

The same problem counts for Feyenoord (for years). They also invested in the wrong players so there is no money. Their academy is now the best for years and you see slowly they are on the way back because of that. On the other hand, their players will also be sold within one or two years so probably they have to start all over again.

AZ was a light in the shaddow for years. The club owner build a strong organised club. But the owners bank got bankrupt because of selling bad mortgages. AZ now has a serious problem despite they are well organised. There is no money and Alkmaar (West Friesland) is not the most prestigious area to invest in the Netherlands. No other businessmen will take over AZ.

Exactly, the worst is the situation at the lesser clubs like Roda, Vitesse, Veendam, Haarlem (oldest club got bankrupt), Den Haag, Willem II etc.

Nevertheless, there is light in the tunnel, the management of the clubs also noticed it right now and they have to reform the clubs into wealthy business concerns again so we can probably surprise sometime in the European competitions again.

To rule Europe with club teams like we did in the past will never happen again because the gap between the big markets is way too big.

Thanks for the update Ricardo. I think Holland is too good historically to have a weak league. Admittedly, the way the European system is set up, the league won't be able to compete with the big three European leagues, but it doesn't have to be 'this' weak.

You have THREE legendary clubs in Ajax, PSV, and Feyenoord, and here's hoping you all can sort your problems out soon. <Ale>

Yo Fey! Joel Sánchez has been a revelation. He was instrumental in the annihilation of Estudiantes in CL. Yes, Aguirre (such a late bloomer, was actually better than Farfán) got all the accolades with his hat trick, Fernández was a headache up front as well, BUT it was Joel Sánchez threading the needle in midfield with veteran midfield boss Quinteros.

Joel has EVERYTHING to shine, vision, technique, through pass, free kick, and can score too. Such a great kid, with great work ethic, and so humble as well unlike Manco (the still diamond on the rough, but what talent FFS!) who thought he was the shite without winning a damn thing. <Ale>

It's like that for a few years & will be like that for a while. We just have to focus on our academies and stop buying (crap).

Once we have our new stadium, we'll dominate Dutch footy for years to come. Now we just have to focus on beating Twente in SF of the Dutch Cup.

Watch VVV too little to be able to judge them. Heard from someone, who's usually right about judging these kind of players that Aussie is supposed to be talented & has the right mentality, we'll see.

If it was up to me we spend (all) our money on making sure our U18s stay longer & make sure in case they leave we can cash in on them. Want to keep our Fers as long as possible.

De Guzman, no it was really you. You forgot to take your receipt out, didnt knew you had a kid, which is odd cause your face is still full of acne!

Didnt watched them this weekend but a jew friend send me a text that he could not wait to see these players in a Feyenoord shirt. And the times I watched them myself I was not impressed at all with them. Next year is gonna get even worse for us then this year, possibly rechterrijtje.

BTW Feyenoord-Vitesse will be played on the 31st ..and only for 45 minutes Laughing

Been is losing it imo. Last weekend he let all his frustrations go on Makaay. Those are usually the first signs.

Been has still not made any progress with the squad or made any player better. And he knows he is losing grip of the squad hence he makes a decision to play Castaignos.

We wanted to see this kid for ages, but he decides to start playing him for the first time in a semi-final against Twente ffs. He had ages to start with him. The pressure on this kid is insane. But if he really is that good..

With JDT, CIsse and some more out of it, I doubt we beat Twente, but maybe we can make a deal with them. They the league we the cup.

BTW, did you knew Ruiz could be playing for us?
