Or even Martins, he would be better buy for 8-10 m than Owen, he atleast offers something, or just keep Fraizer.

Well no. Frazier isnt good enough. And Martins is not really a goalscorer which i guess is what Fergie is after however Rossi is more of a goalscorer than anything.

Ozil does kind of have a point though - SAF tends to buy potential world class players and then tries to realise that potential - like he is now trying to do with Nani, Anderson and will be with Valencia.

I agree with TM, ManU should go for Huntelaar. I think Huntelaar could be a big hit in the Premiership, and he would certainly score a lot more goals than Michael Owen.
I guess Ferguson's hatred for Real Madrid does not allow him to engage in negotiations with our club.

Why pay for Huntelaar, he isnt a good player or a long term investment, you want to get rid of him so badly, release him.

Amazingly this deal seems to actually be happening.
You just never know. The old drunk might turn this into a very shrewd purchase.

Cos he's shit.
his touch is shit
his awareness is shit
his passing is shit
his hold up play is shit
his link up play is shit
He fucks up so many of our attacks, and he can't beat anyone with the ball at his feet despite that pace.
Pav did alright, getting 14 in 25 starts despite being fucking exhausted and playing footy for 15 months straight.
Then again I should know better than to argue with a Walcott fan.

Re: Owen for United?
Isn't Owen more of a SS nowadays. Which would cramp space in the hole as it is. It being Rooney's favourite position.
Think people underestimate his ability to sniff a goal. Last season there were a number of times I have seen Man U create an opening and its only Park in a good position to shoot.
I think Owen maybe bought for Berbatov. He is similar nowadays to Keane and Ferguson may want recreate that.
The biggest thing Man U (and England) need is a fit Hargreaves.

I presume he is going to be third choice behind Berbs and Rooney.
Any chance of a 4-3-1-2.
That would mean having good and energetic full backs. Two early for the twins surely?

This is mental..
Loving TS saying Huntelaar is garbage but going on to praise Pavs goals.. when Huntelaar probably has a better record..odd. Does Owen even provide clever movement anymore? I didnt think he could even move.

Re: Owen for United?
Huntelaar's a fantastic poacher but offers NOTHING outside of that. A big no-no in the modern EPL. So, when he doesn't score, he is indeed garbage, which is why Madrid are buying more strikers after a mere 6 months.
Owen >> Huntelaar. All United need to do is buy Emile Heskey & they're sorted

Re: Owen for United?
Nothing outside the box? hmmmm
He actually holds the ball up very well and brings other players into the game, this is a common misconception just because he isnt a flair player or lacks bags of pace.
At the end of the day he's better option that Owen (maybe not transfer fee wise but in every other sense), and Pav isn't no where is his leauge

Why are your lot bringing in a more dynamic player to replace him after 6 months then?
Then again, being able to hold the ball up against soft as puppy shit La Liga defences doesn't mean you can do it in the EPL - look at Kanouté. He never was or could've been the battering ram he is for Sevilla in his time with Spurs & West Ham.

Madrid are buying more strikers because they can and Huntelaar might not fit into the new boys system. I bet he'd fit into Fergie's system. Who needs another striker who can offer loads outside of the box when you have Rooney and Berbatov? They need one who can get in there and poach.
I dont know what system Pavluchenko and Owen fit into..perhaps less of a system and more of a shit covered cistern

He's performanced well at International level as well mate, his goal scoring record for Holland is something like 1 in every 1.6 games.
"Huntelaar's Owen a fantastic poacher but offers NOTHING outside of that"
At least KJH will offer other options to the team; Holding up the ball, bringing other players into the game, and actually being able to head the ball None of which Owen can do.

Re: Owen for United?
For his size, Owen isn't bad with his head. Seem to remember him scoring a few headers along the way.
But this is something Utd need to consider having lost Ronaldo - he was a great headerer, and important sometimes when defending corners, as well as attacking. Valencia's reasonably tall but don't know what he's like in that part of the game.

Re: Owen for United?
Michael Owen is poised to complete a shock move to Manchester United on a free transfer.
Following talks on Thursday, the striker is expected to undergo a stringent medical at the club's training base later today.
Provided he passes it, Owen will then put pen to paper on a deal
that is thought to be heavily incentivised - according to reports, Owen
will be given a weekly wage of between £20,000 and £40,000 with his
full income then dependent on a series of performance-related bonuses. Shorn of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez, Owen's arrival will be a welcome boost to Sir Alex Ferguson's attacking options.
However, because of his appalling injury record, Owen's capture
even on a free transfer will still amount to something of a gamble. Only two days ago, Sam Allardyce, a close ally of Ferguson, said
that Blackburn Rovers would not be interested in recruiting Owen due to
the number of injuries he suffered in a four-year spell at Newcastle
United that saw him make just 58 league starts.

Reduces the gamble if the wages are 20-40 k.
