    Young Gunner heads to Germany
Nordtveit loaned out, while Merida could follow

Arsenal starlet Havard Nordtveit has agreed to join newly-promoted Nurnberg for the 2009/10 campaign.

The Norwegian defender will spend the upcoming season in Germany in an effort to secure regular first-team football.

The 19-year-old, who is under contract at Emirates Stadium until 2011, has previously taken in a productive loan spell at Lillestrom in his homeland.

He is looking forward to experiencing life in the Bundesliga and believes the move will help his personal progression.

"I hope to help Nurnberg to achieve their goals and of course to take the next step in my development," said Nordtveit.
    Learning

Meanwhile, another of Arsenal's talented youngsters has admitted he would be willing to consider heading out on loan.

Midfielder Fran Merida spent the first half of last season in Spain with Real Sociedad and thoroughly enjoyed his time away from North London.

He did break into Arsene Wenger's first-team plans towards the end of the 2008/09 campaign, but accepts that the Frenchman may decide to send him away on a short-term deal once again.

"There's a possibility of me going on loan but I want to try and make that decision difficult for my manager by showing him what I can do," he said.

"My goal when I'm back in England (after the Under 19 European Championship) will be to continue my progression and of course to keep learning."

I agree. In the last 12 months Wenger has only signed three players over the £10m mark, he clearly gets a nosebleed very time he writes a cheque out.

    Doh

Emmanuel Eboue expected to the next player to leave Arsenal

Emmanuel Eboue is expected to continue the Arsenal exodus this week by signing a five-year deal with Fiorentina.

The Gunners have given the 26-year-old permission to speak to the Italian Serie A side and are looking for £9million.

The Ivory Coast star, who can play in either defence or midfield, has struggled to gain a regular place in Arsene Wenger's first team. And last season he was barracked by Gunners fans frustrated at his poor performances.

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli confirmed earlier this week that he wants Eboue at the club.

He said: "Eboue is a very important player. In attack he is second to very few players in his role."

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2009/07/29/next-off-is-eboue-115875-21555090/
I've seen rumours that Fiorentina want closer to £6m, but even a fee of £7m would be acceptable for me.

BTW just noticed that Fulham start their UEFA Cup campaign tomorrow, if Hangeland plays he will be ineligible for the CL qualifiers and group stage matches.

Kolo Toure has agreed terms with Manchester City and is now set to undergo his medical, skysports.com understands.

The Ivorian star is set to leave Arsenal after the two clubs agreed a deal in excess of £15million for the central defender.

Toure has been with The Gunners since 2002 when Arsene Wenger paid a nominal fee to bring him from his native Ivory Coast, but he now set to leave the North London giants.

Toure has now travelled to Manchester for his medical, ahead of the deal being confirmed.

Skysports.com understands that Toure has agreed a four-year deal with the Eastlands club and his signing could be confirmed within the next 24 hours.

In other transfer news we have once again been linked with Hangeland but he is refusing to comment.

We have been linked with a Brazlian striker called Zezinho.

Laurent Blanc has said that Chamakh will not be joining Sunderland putting us back in the frame again, whilst if you believe the Daily Mail we are in pole position for Huntelaar Evil or Very Mad

Eboue for £7million I'd be happy with though that leaves no back up for Sagna if he gets injured unless we plan on playing someone like Song or Djourou there at times.

Reading recent quotes from Arsene it seems that he is still in the market but is going to wait until late before making a move.

He should have been sent off before that for his wild kick at Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and if not, he should have recieved a second yellow for his celebrations after.

Yeah, looks like we will wait until after the Emirates Cup, from then we will have only two weeks left until the start of the season to bring some new players in (I think we only have one friendly vs. Valencia inbetween?).

I'm not a Huntelaar fan either. Although it may not be the most essential area of the pitch to invest in right now, you could argue that we are still one striker away from a good set to compete with.

On a lighter note, if/when Kolo joins Man City it should put an end to those annoying and unrealistic Yaya Toure stories. Hopefully Martins joins Wolfsburg too to put an end to his continual links.

lol! at the nonsense spouted on the previous 2 pages.

There are no good players left at Arsenal save 1 or 2 Erm

Don't get wrong, I have been very disappointed with our transfer activity so far, but some of those comments were just way over the top.

    Anyway back to reality,

If Wenger is really serious about this 4-3-3 we've been trying in pre season then we should go for both Robben(not a popular choice I know, but imaging a front 3 of Arshavin--RVP--Robben - that will be up there with the best front 3 in world football) and Sneijder(could go for as little as 12 mill from what I read this morning). And we should bring back Gilberto - he'll forever remain class in a strict holding role where he's expected to play it simple, act as a 5th CB when necessary, track runners(a PHD holder in that) etc

Forwards: Arshavin, RVP, Robben, Bendtner, Eduardo, Vela, Walcott

CMs: Cesc, Nasri, Rosicky, Sneijder, Ramsey, Diaby, Song, Denilson.

    Holding role: Gilberto, Denilson, Song.

Fullbacks: Sagna, Clichy, Eboue, Gibbs, Agent S.

CBs : Gallas, Vermaelen, Djourou, Song, Agent S.

    GKs: Almunia, Fab, Manone.

Maybe bring in another CB, but that's a very good squad right there. The chances of us buying those players though are very slim.

I wouldn't be opposed to that Prof but that is the last place that needs strengthening and for those two we need to be edging close towards £30 million which I can't see.

Wenger's been experimenting quite a bit but I think we'll still be the 4-4-2 for the meanwhile.

I'd like a CM and CB before concentrating on the forward areas.

As said before I trust Arsene.

And I don't think Wenger writes the cheques, since he doesn't own the club.

They really are not. Arsenal have 5-6 very good/greatish players but all of them in the main have qualities that are purely attacking. You wont win anything like this. Staying in the top 4 would now be a successful season. That's how far you've sunk.

I'm watching the game against Hannover online and the South African commentator is absolutely clueless. As Eduardo comes on he says "with a name like Eduardo da Silva you might expect him to be Brazilian, but he is actually Croatian-born." Doh

We haven't done much in the second half (I didn't catch the first). Van Persie lost his cool a bit and on two or three occasions left a boot in when challenging for the ball. Wenger wisely took him off. Hannover have broke through the defence a couple of times as well, but the centre backs recovered on each occasion. Not too worried about the offside trap being sprung at this stage, they don't have much experience playing together. Vermaelen and Djourou could be a physically strong pairing for games against direct teams.

Some good news; Vermaelen has grown an inch in the past week or two. Before his move to Arsenal he was 5'11, he's now 6ft. Will add a bit of height to your defence.
