I am about to witness one of the rarest sights in football. Rosicky playing.

Re: Arsènal FC - 09/10 Season Thread
FT 3 - 0 and we win the trophy.
While acknowledging pre-season friendlies for what they are, we looked fairly respectable in both matches. With Kolo's departure still v fresh defence does need sorting out - there were glaring gaps after Clichy and Gallas went off at HT which Rangers failed to capitalise on. I haven't seen Vermaelen play, so can't comment on how we are likely to look but we don't have that long to go before the season starts.
Wilshere had a very good tournament but he has to prove he can deliver consistently. He may get a chance in the first matches if Theo is to have an extended break though.
Other pluses - returning players, Rosicky and (esp) Eduardo.

He looks impressive, its a shame the English press are going to get too excited, hopefully that doesn't ruin his development.

How exactly is a writer from the Daily Star going to ruin his development ?

Through pressure on him as a player to perfom at the highest level consistantly as well at a very young age(17!!) and pressure on the manager to keep playing him.
Its very few players at such a young age who can handle that kind of press attention and expectations, of course he could be one of the special few who can handle it well.

Rooney stagnated for at least 2 seasons after the "PELE II" stuff at Euro 2004.

I missed the game today. Gonna have to look out for this Wilshere everyone seems to be raving about. Have only seen him a couple of times to date.
The next Gazza or the next Jeffers?

Nowhere near as good as Gazza, but potentially a lot better than Jeffers.
It is easy to look good in friendlies though. We'll see if can carry this into EPL games.

Re: Arsènal FC - 09/10 Season Thread
We dicked them so hard today. Team kept posession very well in the first half and forced the issue on a number of occasions. Second half we tailed off a bit but that was only because we were playing withing ourselves.
Wilshere MOTM by far. Notable mentions to Cesc, Ramsey and Song who also played very well.
The downpoint was that we were susceptible to balls over the top so hope this is addressed asap.
Anyway....Wilshere is great
