Arsenal Striker Eduardo: I Am Not Injured

Dudu is not sure just why Arsene Wenger claims that he is out for two months...

    23 Jul 2009 04:43:02

Arsene Wenger recently told the club's official website that the Brazilian-born star would miss the next two months.

However, speaking to Croatian paper Jutarnji, the player himself expressed his surprise at those comments.

"I do not know anything about the statement made by my coach," Eduardo said.

"It can not be true. I am completely ready physically.

"I was told that I will play between 20 and 30 minutes on July 27 when we play against Szombatelya. Two days later against Hannover 96 I will play a half.

"I feel great, next week I will play for Arsenal, and I believe that everything will be OK."

Eduardo only made four appearances last season, as he struggled with various niggles after recovering from his horrific broken leg.

    lol!
Those comments must be old surely?

    Eduardo is not injured.

Eduardo hungry for starting place on Monday

Eduardo is set to make his pre-season bow on Monday at Szombathelyi Haladas.

In past few days rumours have started circulating that the Croatian striker had picked up an injury that would keep him sidelined for a couple of months.

This is not the case and today’s Austrian News Bulletin will carry footage of the 26-year-old hard in training on Wednesday afternoon.

“Eduardo should play on Monday,” confirmed Arsène Wenger after the 7-1 win at SC Columbia earlier this week.

Received my membership pack today. The scarf included is dreadful quality, but the rest of the stuff is pretty decent. Lots of information on the last season in the book (enough to keep even the most stat-hungry Arsenal supporter satisfied), and the dvd has a long feature and highlights from our best European games. They should have taken Adebayor off the title screen of it though!

The only people we seem to be linked with rumour wise are Kalou, Chamakh and now Wellington has popped up.

Sunday Times say Kolo has agreed personal terms with City

    From The Sunday Times

    July 26, 2009

Kolo Toure is first in Manchester City's £100 million defensive makeoverDuncan Castles

MANCHESTER CITY have agreed personal terms with Arsenal defender Kolo Toure as the Premier League’s most affluent football club continue their assault on the English transfer market. City expect to sign Toure, Joleon Lescott and John Terry by the end of August for combined fees of around £100m.

Occasional Arsenal captain Toure has been seduced by City’s standard double-your-money offer and following a season in which he was not consistently Arsene Wenger’s first choice should be sold for around £15m. The Arab-financed club have offered Everton £20m plus England under-21 international Nedum Onuoha for Lescott, who has been attracted by the prospect of starting in his preferred central defensive position.

The assault on Terry, however, has proved the most complicated with Chelsea, acting on orders from owner Roman Abramovich, repeatedly stating he is not for sale at any price.

Indeed, Carlo Ancelotti, the Chelsea coach, made the strongest statement yet on Terry when he promised his captain would remain at Chelsea and ignore the City overtures. “For sure Terry will stay in Chelsea, we have never had a problem,” Ancelotti said. “We have to wait. You have to have trust in me.”

City continue to receive strong encouragement that Terry wants the £250,000 weekly wage on offer in Manchester and are preparing to push the transfer fee beyond £40m to secure him. They are also boosted by Terry’s sustained public silence on the matter, conscious that the player’s future will remain unresolved at least until he has stated his intention to continue his career at Stamford Bridge or to move north to Eastlands.

It is understood the 28-year-old has been disappointed with the club’s failure to make top-tier reinforcements and that Abramovich did not consult him over Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment as manager. He has also complained of Chelsea’s lassitude in contacting him after City’s initial summer offer, and over having to wait a week for a meeting with Abramovich after the second.

Though Terry appears to face a difficult decision over his future, Hughes and his coaching staff remain confident he will manage to extricate himself from Chelsea — even if he is forced into requesting a transfer.

Duncan Castles is usually fairly credible - but then Terry's just publicly committed to Chelsea so hopefully it's just him acting as City mouthpiece. Yaya Toure said only on Friday there's no way Kolo will go to City; Adebayor didn't want to go either and tried everything to get out of it, as Ferg's interview today revealed, so I doubt if anything comes of this.

Re. Eboue - I hope we'll rip Fiorentiona off as much as we possibly can after they used us to leverage Melo's sale to Juve Grr

Bendtner - I know nothing about Milan rumours
    By Richard Clarke

Nicklas Bendtner has scotched transfer rumours linking him with a move to Milan.

Reports before the weekend suggested the 21-year-old striker was wanted by the San Siro side. But the Dane knows nothing about it and sees his future firmly at Emirates Stadium.

“I haven’t heard anything about [that],” he told Arsenal TV Online. “As far as I know I am totally with Arsenal. This is where I want to be. This is something special and I want to be a part of it. This is the club I want to play with and it has always been that way.”

Former Arsenal striker Dennis Bergkamp has backed Russian international Andrey Arshavin to become one of Arsenal’s greatest ever players. The Dutch legend who achieved hero status during his time at Highbury intimated that should the diminutive playmaker continue to work hard then he too could stand in the Gunners pantheon alongside the likes of Thierry Henry, Tony Adams, Liam Brady and Frank McLintock

Quoted by the Daily Mail, Bergkamp stressed:

“Arshavin has every chance of becoming a favourite of the London fans.

“Arsenal found the kind of player they have been lacking.

“I hope Andrey will not rest on his laurels and will to continue to work to a higher level. Then he will become part of Arsenal's history.

“The advice is simple but important for any player who moves to the Premier League: give everything, fight all through the game - those are the qualities that the fans fall in love with. In England it's not enough to be a talented player.”

Yeah this summer but its only a question of time untill we sign a defender or two. Its made me laugh thissummer how many people have spoken about us having a major problem in defence. By the time the season kicks off im sure we will have a good enough defence to do a job.

Erm to be honest probably no. Even if we do sell Toure and Senderos we are more than equipped with the likes of Vermalen, Gallas, Djourou, Tweety Evil or Very Mad and Song. Sagna could also play there if necessary.

Just watched the highlights from the game and it seemed a very good wotkout from the guys. Eduardo and Big Nick had their shooting boots on earlt which is good to see.

Our Polish keeper who plays looked very impressive. wice the player of that bufoon Mannone.

As Crazy said hopefully we see where the team truly stands when we play in the Emirates Cup this weekend but it is looking good so far.

    a) I don't think we want to sell him, and b) we don't want to sell another player to City. IMO Your guys are trying to do some damage limitation warming up the Kolo story again after Terry took you on a ride.

But then again I'm usually wrong about transfers Sad

However, after you've spent the summer throwing money around, it's inevitable the Terry incident has happened and will keep happening. Thing is your defence already look fairly OK so I don't know why you want to have 10+ players there as well as upfront, you've already made a point about your spending power.

It's imminent that Toure is now off to join Adebayor at City for me. With only 12 months left on his contract the last thing we want is another Flamini situation. Regardless of who is offering the money, the reported fee of £15m is a very good deal for Arsenal.

If you said that we had the possibility of raising around £60m by selling Adebayor, Toure, Eboue, Senderos & some reserve players I'm sure most Gooners would have taken it. Of course it all depends on how Wenger spends it.

Only seen highlights of our friendly games so far but I am looking forward to seeing us in Emirates Cup. We should line-up fairly strongly tommorow as well.

We're still pretty strong in defence and attack even with the current departures.

Still hoping we are going in for an experienced CM.

The Hangeland rumours seem to have resurfaced as well.

The Hangeland/Arsenal rumour is always the easiest for a journalist to write about. Still yet to see a concrete link on yet. If Toure & Senderos go you would like to think that we would bring in a new defender, which would leave us with five first teamers and Alex Song too. I'm not overly concerned about our forward options just yet, we can wait until the end of the transfer window to sort anything out if we need additional strength & depth.
