Just wait untill Aquilani gets ready. drunken

We just look off the pace at the moment, lack sharpness and ideas on the ball.

Would like to see Benayoun come on at some point soon to give a little creativity when we do get the ball back.

Lightweight - check, technically brilliant - check, injury prone - fuck him. I want VDV.

Yeah he's not the biggest but he can keep the ball very well.

What can he do that Cesc can't?

    dribble well in tight space?
    He's also pretty quick.

I wasn't saying I would have him in the team. I was in fact comparing him to Rosicky, Nasri and VDV who are all similar players who happen to be injury prone whereas Modric isn't.

Doh I didn't read it properly Laughing

Oh was that when you were wildly calling anyone who said Alonso would be going clueless fools? my bad.

That was when I was denying the possibility of it because I knew what it would be like without him, and it isn't pretty. It's made worse by the fact our other technically accomplished players aren't playing today (Riera, Yossi, Agger)

Looks like we are going to have to put Gerrard back into midfield until Aquilani comes back if this game is a good yardstick for our football without Alonso

That was my first thoughts too, if we can't control the game in the middle of the park Gerrard is the only option as he is the only other play who will impose himself on the game with the ball centrally.

I think United are still the team to beat, now they've gone back to Fergies tried and tested 4-4-2 i'd expect them to play much better football than they did at times last year.

They have a nice balance to their team from the two games i've seen this year so far.

Vieira was powerful, aggressive and occasionally violent. But he wasn't sneaky and snide, on that level I wouldn't call it dirtty in the Argentine/Italian style. And he didn't get a away with it.

Well fair enough mate. But it is a trend, Babel, sale of Alonso and now prediction of 1st place you seem to keep going back on things you say when they turn out or look like turning out incorrect.

Only someone incredibly stupid or with a huge agenda would not go back on something that has turned out to be incorrect Lrd.

How is a prediction of winning if we keep Alonso going back on it if we then sell Alonso ?

    LrdLogic

You do look like you're missing Alonso today but the weakness isnt just the midfield. Torres having an off day doesn't help. Carragher is surely going to have to be dropped at some point.

Controlling a midfield is vital. You could probably count on one hand the amount of times Alonso and Mascha got dominated when they played together. Everything used to flow from that. Now any team can compete well against us.
