I wasn't saying I would have him in the team. I was in fact comparing him to Rosicky, Nasri and VDV who are all similar players who happen to be injury prone whereas Modric isn't.

That was when I was denying the possibility of it because I knew what it would be like without him, and it isn't pretty. It's made worse by the fact our other technically accomplished players aren't playing today (Riera, Yossi, Agger)

Looks like we are going to have to put Gerrard back into midfield until Aquilani comes back if this game is a good yardstick for our football without Alonso

We just look off the pace at the moment, lack sharpness and ideas on the ball.

Would like to see Benayoun come on at some point soon to give a little creativity when we do get the ball back.

Wouldn't call Scholes cynical so much as shit, when it comes to tackling. He just dives in unthinking. And he often gets called up on it, although gets away with a few reds.

Bullshit, Scholes goes his whole career with people excusing him for this reason. Just today he kick a B'ham player as a tackle after the whistle had gone. And to say he gotten awy with a few reds is a gross understatement. Without keeping count its probably a few reds a season not to mention dozens of yellows a season.

Well fair enough mate. But it is a trend, Babel, sale of Alonso and now prediction of 1st place you seem to keep going back on things you say when they turn out or look like turning out incorrect.

You do look like you're missing Alonso today but the weakness isnt just the midfield. Torres having an off day doesn't help. Carragher is surely going to have to be dropped at some point.
