So Van Gaal has finally seen the light and does indeed intent to switch to a 4-3-3. Robben and Ribery on both flanks could be absolutely devastating, no matter who they play against. Bayern's front line, when on form and clicking, could challenge the best of them. He is injury prone, but real quality, stupid by Real to let him go IMHO.

    BUT

Bayern still need to invest in the defence, it's a MUST.

Some stuff I managed to locate, Blut:

(I just realized that only some of it came from the Mannschaft thread and there was a more specifically relevant one on this thread where you were arguing the case even more pertinently – no idea if I'll be able to find it even if I can be arsed to try.)

You can claim the first point is mostly down to Jansen, but scarcely the second. Actually maybe you probably will...

Because you are always so direct, clear and unequivocal (rather German!) in your style, it makes the job easier:

    http://europeanboard.ephpbb.com/the-international-board-f6/die-mannschaft-aka-jogi-s-lowen-t10074-140.htm

"For me, the most important individual improvement since the World Cup has been Marcell Jansen. With Jansen as LB, being a very talented left-footed youngster, Lahm could finally move to the right side, where he can be most effective due to his stronger right foot. With Lahm and Jansen we now have two top class fullbacks who can finally provide the width we often lacked in the past, but which is crucial for our double pivot system to work effectively."

    -----------------------------------

"Jansen will probably play more often than Lahm, and Lahm might actually replace Sagnol on the right, because sagnol had a lot of bad matches this season, and is injured often. This season, Sagnol had no competition, it will be different next year. I see Lahm's future both for die Mannschaft and Bayern on the right side."

    -----------------------------------

So not too sure what propaganda means here, but if it means lying I ain't guilty of it. And for the millionth time it's a magnificent, if admittedly rather orange T-shirt, and I has only worn it once. Ale Biggrin

Post by blutgraetsche Thu Aug 27, 2009 6:20 pm

Hmm...seems like I really bought the 'stronger right foot' argument back then, so you got me there. But you can still clearly see that my main argument was Jansen on the left, to have two attacking fullbacks on both flanks (and hence getting rid of Friedrich as RB). Jansen looked great in the Euro qualification, sometimes even outshining Lahm (e.g. against the Czechs).

It also needs to be said that Lahm didn't have many matches on the right back then, so the 'stronger right foot' advantage was more of a theoretical one. Later on it became clear that his marginally better crosses with his right foot did not outweigh all the other advantages on the left which I mentioned earlier. The initial idea was that on the right, Lahm would not have to stop and cut in to put the crosses in, but the more matches he played on the right, the less convincing he was.
And since Jansen regressed and looked very vulnerable defensively on the other flank, it wasn't worth it to 'waste' one of our best players, instead of getting the best of him.

So basically, my real mistake was to overrate Jansen, who looked promising in the beginning of his national team career indeed. A very good Jansen would have justified to move Lahm to the right. But unfortunately, it didn't work out.

Nowadays, there is no reason for Lahm to move to the right, so Löw's recent decision was counterproductive.

You didn't overrate Jansen. He didn't just LOOK promising, he is. And he's still young. Still Lahm is better on the left than on the right.

The problem is just that Löw seems to think that someone like Beck is starting XI material, which he ain't.

Jansen on the LM position, yes. But not as LB. Aogo is a starter instead of him on that position for a reason. He is just too vulnerable defensively IMHO.

He can be a good alternative for the midfield though.

The phone-call piss-take is brilliant. Very Happy

I can't see how Ribery and Robben can fit into the same side and get the best out of them. They are both at their best on the left, although maybe they will swap flanks continuously to appease them. Robben's a brilliant player, but it does seem that Bayern could spend the money more effectively on other areas of their squad. Still, Robben is such a direct player that he could really suit playing in the Bundesliga.

yeah, magath is brilliant, i love his sense of humour, at "doppelpass" hes always the funniest in a different way

he has really changed, when i remember him from the bayern times:sleep: Sleep

and robben solves our central midfield (now we can play with 2 DM) problem and attacking problem

now we can play a 4-3-3, we have the players now (i watched some youtube videos, and hes many times playing on the right side and he shoot a fantastic goal with the right foot)

lahm can improve on his side, and pranjic is far away from not "bundesligatauglich" as many press mentioned the last days

but a new goalkeeper would be fine

the last game was a disgrace, from all

    Ribery ATTACKS van Gaal

    http://www.abendzeitung.de/sport/fc_bayern/129214

    saying

he has never had a worse relationship ( "contact" ? ) with a manager than with van Gaal

and bemoaning that the training sessions are devoid of ANY fun and humour

now that Robben has arrived the French diva is no longer THE centre of attention

and he does not like it one bit

    major drama ahead

and the switch to the 433 means that Toni will get even less playing time now

unlike Klose the Italian WILL ROCK THE BOAT

    endless drama ahead Ale

Ribery now says that van Gaal is so authoritarian that he is BLOCKING the players

they are INTIMIDATED, the Frenchie thinks

so now we KNOW why WORLD CLASS STARS were producing the worst start for 43 years

NOTHING to do with the quality of the squad, it seems Ale

the repercussions to Ribery's HONESTY will be terrifying, me thinks

Chill down. The only reason Ribery stayed is because you signed Robben. He's not crazy for attention. The problem is Mr.Van Gaal and his terms of endearment.

The press is really trying hard to restart the FC Hollywood days. Pretty sure things were taken out of context, again. Of course, Ribery could just take a break from interviews for a while. That wouldn't hurt.

Maybe it's a last ditch effort to get out. Like I said before can understand anybody having a problem with van Gaal. Having an underperforming Bayern witha touchy Dutch asshole in charge is about as ideal as it gets for the German media.

I'll reserve my verdict on how he's doing until the Herbstmeisterschaft, still have a hunch feeling it will turn out wrong/right* (depending on who you support).

    holy cow

now, Ribery gave a further interview to a French football magazine

accusing van Gaal of LYING Yikes

according to the French diva vG's assertion that Ribery could not have played because of INJURY was a LIE

    it's all-out WAR now

vG HAS to react, Ribery will throw his toys out of the pram and Hoeness and DUmmenigge will SIDE with Ribery who has received the red-carpet treatment ever since he arrived

    ----------

    meanwhile

van Gaal will no longer give group-interviews

ie, the ones customary after every game (in the Sky studio) together with Beckenbauer and Effenberg or Sammer

he also refuses to give interviews in the presence of other managers Laugh

    ---------

this week, training sessions will be held with the players not on international duty

a brilliant opportunity to work with the likes of Butt, Rensing, Badstuber, Breno, Müller and maybe even Brafheid, you would have thought

    RIGHT ?

well, van Gaal decided his own presence was not required Yikes

he will spent the ENTIRE WEEK in Holland, busy writing his autobiography, which also talks about his ideas and philosophy Laugh

Bayern pay him MILLIONS and HE complains he did not have enough TIME to work systematically with his players and then he just disappears

    lol!

prior to the Mainz game he already had TWO free (non-training) days

he repeated the same trick before the Wolfsburg game

    lol!

how long before Hoeness and Dummnigge fall out of love, me wonders scratch

They are both c**ts with huge, no, astronomical egos. Clashes were just a matter of time.

Ribery is a great, very gifted player, but I always hated his egocentric, selfish character. He will never be a Zidane because of that, he is too focused on himself and not enough on the team. Quite a few of the current 'star' players are similar, CRonaldo being the prime example (even bigger ego, better athlete but lesser talent).

    Bayern are now c**t-PARADISE

    Ribery

    Robben

    van Gaal

van Bommel (some, although not me, would argue)

    Hoeness

    Dummnigge

    Sepp Maier

    Toni

    Lahm

Junghans (when you see him in the flesh)

and even, to some extent, Kahn (lurking in the shadows)

    -------------

    the GOOD Bavarians are

    Scholli

    Schweini

    Gomez

    Effe

    Loddar Smile

    and

    the KAISER

I also like Breitner (there is a c**t lurking in him also though, just like in Loddar Smile )

Van Bommel represents everything that is wrong with Holland, especially including the "holier than thou" delusion, which manifests itself in claiming all the negative things about yourself to be of 'German' origin. Obsession doesn't even do it justice. Laugh
