If anything, the mistake was not capturing Villa, rather than parting ways with Eto'o. Though I still think Ibra will be a success in the long run.

People also overlook the fact that the Eto'o + Guardiola relationship had effectively become non existant and untenable.

That was part of the complication - Pep wanted Villa last year itself, but not only did Valencia change their mind at the last minute, Etoo would have also refused to go there. And was refusing bids by other clubs because of his huge wage demands, something Inter could only meet once they offloaded Ibrahimovic. So that was part of the reason Ibra was signed - it was the only way to offload Etoo. The mistake of course is paying an additional 45m euro on top of that

Marquez can indeed fuck off but I doubt it.
Hleb will be sold but Caceres may be loaned again (apparently Juve have asked for a 1 year extension).
Henry will leave but I doubt we'll get any money for him, unless City are bizarrely interested. Otherwise he's off to America.
I doubt Botia will come in, he'll probably be sold with a buyback after 2 years. Just because he's done superbly at Sporting doesn't necessarily mean he has the attributes to succeed at Barça. Could be a different style of defending required there.
What are you getting at, a different style of defending, the boy has been at barca for years and knows who style of defending inside out, and has since gone on to prove that he is an excellent defender.'
He will have a better chance of success than any other defender, we have signed over the past few years, because of the combination of those two things.
Chya should stay, the man is a load of Shit, yet another player that pep has waster millions on, he is a great coach, but shit at signing players, Chya makes Oleguer look WC.
He should be loaned out, but i know this won't happen and its sad.

No the club wanted villa, Pep wanted Ibra.
in terms of the deal i don't see what the big problem is, eto'o was a depreciating (contract running out) and unwanted (Pep) asset, Hence the club decided to sell him, I personally was against it, but in terms of Econ and the dressing room, its perfectly understandable.

Valdés, Pinto, Alves, Maxwell, Piqué, Puyol, Márquez, Txigrinski,
Milito, Keita, Touré, Sergio,
Xavi, Messi, Thiago, Bojan, Jeffren, Pedro, Henry, Ibrahimovic.
I hope thiago gets a run out, before he leaves in the summer.

Note the wording...doesn't deny there's a verbal agreement, which is all that Marca claimed. The Bojan/Hleb parts of it were in a "could happen" state anyway.
--------------
Also, I don't see why you and some other Barça fans are so quick to write off Chygrinskiy. He may lack pace, but he has hardly had time to adapt to what is not an easy style of defending to learn.
He has the height to be strong in the air, and is good with the ball at feet. And he's only 23. Just because Pique is a world class talent doesn't mean all CBs are excellent at the age of 23.
---------------
Anyway, absolutely sublime performance last night. The response of champions. I think that was a harder game than Sevilla away, so I am now 99% certain we'll win the league.
I dread the day when Xavi retires. We'll never be able to replace him, not even by spending 30m or more on Cesc.
Pep - himself one of the greatest midfielders of this club - said after the game: "Xavi es el mejor centrocampista de la historia del Barça".
Indeed, I struggle to think of any other midfielder that makes me disagree with that statement
SPORT says it in a more lighthearted manner:

I'm quick to right of Chyga, because
1) what he lacks he can never make up for, not matter how much is positioning improves, he will always be a slow Facker.
2) Pep wasted 25m euros on him, anyone that cost that much, doesn't have the time to adapt.
3) We have Botia at sporting, and just because pep wants to give yet another of his failed signing Time, odds are he will not return, when he is in almost every way better than chyga.
4) Caceres was better than him and didn't get the time to prove himself and what he lack, could be taught and if so, he would be WC, something chyga will never been.
as for replacing Xavi, you don't have to tell my Cesc can't go it, I've been saying this for years now, he could do a good, but not what Xavi those.

Iniesta: I didn't watch the Madrid game (against Osasuna), I watched a movie instead.
Journalist: How was the movie?
Iniesta: Equally bad!
http://www.marca.com/2010/05/03/futbol/equipos/barcelona/1272890117.html
A Mourinho moment from Andres (though of course the question is, how does he know the Madrid game was bad if he didn't watch it )

Unless we will change our defensive style... which will never happen probably, he will never make it at Barca.
It's kind of similar to basketball, where "You can't teach size", you basically can't teach pace too (in bigger picture). Of course there is plenty of poor and tall basketball players, as well as plenty of poor defenders with pace. But you can't play center being 6ft and you can't play as part of high defensive line against top teams, being as slow as Chygra is.

the boy wonder stats up date.
11 goals and 7 Assist for the boy wonder in 13 starts this season.
he has played a total of 1297 Minutes, Averaging a goal every 118 minutes, the 2nd best in the team.
Thats a better Goals to minutes ratio than the likes of Super mario, Pato and Hazard.

Pedro MOTM yesterday despite only being a sub. Most crucial moment was him tracking back all the way to our penalty box to prevent the 2-2, then a minute later scoring the 3-1

Almost there.
I cant believe how we raise the game when it's needed (few exceptions) and if im not mistaking our front three of Messi, Pedro and Bojan have scored most of our goals in our recent games. I have to check for that stat.
Anyway

The fans prefer Caceres(who is a better defender) to Chyga

The fans have spoken, get rid of him.
anyways, am I the only one a bit worried that with one game to go in the season and a few weeks in the laporta presidency, we haven't yet tied down Thiago or JDS.

I doubt any contract discussions will take place at this point anyway. It's for the new president to handle.
As for the Caceres-Chygrinskiy vote, it's an obvious case of "out of sight, out of mind". I know which one I'd rather keep.

Don't take this the wrong way but I have an honest question for you guys: If a club offered you 40M for Ibra, would you guys take it? I know that he's extremely talented but he doesn't seem to fit your system, even as well as some of your Masia products who have less talent but combine well with the rest of your players. So, would you take 40M for Ibra at this point? I'm interested to see your thoughts.

Yes.
And buy Villa with it, while keeping Bojan. They can still have Hleb if they want him though.
Although I don't think he's as much of a misfit as it's seemed in recent weeks, and he'll improve the more he plays...but the chance to earn back most of what we spent and at the same time get someone much more suited (ie. Villa) is too good to turn up.

What kas said, or i would buy that guy from wolfsburg, if pep insist on needed a target man, he is a lot more mobile that Ibra which is Ibra's main problem at barca.
i thought during the Inter game, that it would have interesting if pep dropped Ibra and bit deeper when Bojan came on, as thats where i think he plays is best football, but i guess pep doesn't see it.
-----Mess----Ibra----Pedro
--------------Bojan
could have worked, I thought.

I did, great game from us.
It's usually a strong starting line up and 2-3 good back up players for most of the good teams, but this team has as least 7-8 players who can compete at the highest level. If they continue like this they will retain the title next season for sure.

I love watching Victor Sada - liked him in Juventud, but was skeptical about making a jump from ULEB level to Euroleague's. But he was phenomenal today.
I also never thought that players like Morris or Mickeal can be a part of a succesfull team on this level, especially Mickeal was a terrible ball hog a few years back.
