I don't sort of want to come across as being completely unsympathetic to VDV's situation with his wife but when was she diagnosed? Spring if I remember correctly. VDV's decline was already in motion last fall almost as soon as Sneijder returned from injury and he was complaining to the press that Juande didn't like him etc.

    --------------------Casillas

    S. Ramos----Pepe-----Albiol------Drenthe

    --------Lass------Alonso------Granero

    -----------------Raul

    --------C. Ronaldo----Benzema

On a side note, if Raul does play today he will equal Sanchis in official matches played with 708.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been impressed with Cristiano Ronaldo's start to his new career with Real Madrid and revealed that he always felt he could be the top goalscorer at the club.

The Manchester United manager had no doubts that the player he groomed to be one of the world's best would be a success after his €94 million move to the Spanish capital.

Ronaldo'searly goal against Villarreal in midweek took his tally to five and he is the joint top goalscorer along with David Villa and Barça duo Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lionel Messi.

With two more in the opening Champions League game the Portuguese star has made an impressive start and his former boss admitted he always thought that would be the case.

Ferguson explained that he had placed a crafty bet with bookmakers that Ronaldo would top the scoring charts and he is confident he will be paid.

"I saw his goal on Wednesday, what a goal. He has done well to get seven goals right away," he told the Mail on Sunday.

"He's started very well. They play 38 league games, European games, Spanish Cup, so you never know."

Kaka has revealed that while he understands that there will be squad rotations at Real Madrid he does not like to be the one to be left out of the team.

The Brazilian started the encounter against Tenerife on the bench as Esteban Granero lined up in midfield alongside Xabi Alonso and he admitted that he's feeling frustrated.

"I understand the rotations although it is obvious that I always want to play," he was quoted as saying by AS.

After entering the game at half time, Kaka scored his first competitive goal from open play for the club since his move from AC Milan when he netted in the 3-0 win over Tenerife on Saturday, and he was delighted with his strike.

"It was a very special day for me because I scored," he continued. "I want to dedicate that goal to my wife and children."

Barcelona and Madrid have both won their opening five league games of the season, but Kaka was not keen on making comparisons with his team's arch rivals.

"Barça? As Pellegrini has said, we do not have to compare ourselves with them," he added.

"Madrid need time to gel and to start playing without thinking about it."

I'm watching Punto Pelota right now and they have Portugal as a guest there saying that Faubert was NOT his signing. He claims that he went to England to sign Valencia and after talking to the Wigan people they claimed that they wouldn't sell him for less than 18 million Euros, which the club wasn't willing to pay. Then the name of Faubert was thrown around because apparently there were rumors that Lyon was trying to get him on loan, so Juande Ramos approved that we stepped in and hijack the loan cheers

Poor Faubert, such a misunderstood footballing genius Cool

I have to laugh at Guti's interview with AS today. He claims that this summer he was close to leave him but Pellegrini convinced him to stay. Is this why he said in the transfer window that if the club was going to get rid of him he would charge every penny left on his contract? Who the hell is he trying to fool? Whistle

    Yikes

Lass out of tomorrow's match against Marseille. He's not even made the matchday squad. Guti, and more importantly, Sergio Ramos also doubtful. Arbeloa is already out and with Ramos struggling and no Lass who is going to play right back?

Are Metzelder and/or Garay fit again? Because then Pepenbauer could play RB while Albiol and Metzelder/Garay play as CBs. Albiol could also play RB (even though he's not very good at it), leaving Pepe as CB.

    Otherwise there's always Mamadou lol!

The problem with Albiol as RB is that he doesn't do anything offensively, and in Pellegrini's system this is very important since the fullbacks are meant to provide the width. Arbeloa is Roberto Carlos in attack compared to Albiol. I think it would be wiser to put Pepe there because he's very good offensively.

Metzelder is out for a while.

    The squad list:
    Porteros
    Casillas y Dudek
    Defensas
Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo, Drenthe, Albiol y Garay.
    Centrocampistas
Gago, Diarra, Guti, Xabi Alonso, Kaká, Granero y Van der Vaart.
    Delanteros
Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema, Raúl e Higuaín.

If Ramos is out then Albiol is likely to play as RB with Pepe & Garay as CB. We could see Diarra as CB if Albiol and Garay aren't ready. Shocked

RVN is out for 5 more weeks. He got injured as soon as he scored his goal because he fell awkwardly.

Either way, Ibra scored 5 tap-ins in 5 games, Ruud poached one in 15 minutes and even assisted Benzema in that time cheers

Warlock says he's been paid to curse Real Madrid star Ronaldo
    Cristiano Ronaldo

    Graham Keeley in Madrid

A Spaniard who describes himself as a professional warlock claims to have been hired to cast a spell on the former Manchester United footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jose “Pepe” Ruz, 58, from Malaga, has written to Florentino Pérez, the president of Real Madrid — the club that paid £80 million for the Portugal international — to warn him that the hopes of millions of fans are about to be dashed. “I have been contracted so Cristiano Ronaldo suffers a serious injury. I can’t promise when that will be, but I can say he will be injured for more time than he plays,” he wrote.

Speculation has abounded in Spain over who might have taken out a black-magic contract on the star. Was it Sir Alex Ferguson, his former manager at Manchester United? Or Joan Laporta, president of Real Madrid’s rivals, Barcelona? Neither is a known practitioner of the dark arts — so is it one of the hapless defenders who will have to face Ronaldo in the coming season? Mr Ruz refused to name his client, other than to say that he or she was “famous and knows the player”.

Mr Ruz claims to have practised witchcraft for 22 years; a calling for which he says he is well paid. This time, however, he will have his warlock work cut out: the Portuguese winger has already scored seven goals in five games for his new club.

Real Madrid dismissed the threat. “It is a nonsense, like many things we have to deal with regularly,” a spokesman said.

It's pretty fucked up if someone has paid another human to seriously injure someone else no matter if the way it's done sounds like bullshit. But if Ronaldo does suffer a serious injury cant he sue this guy? or Real Madrid? What's he gonna do argue against what he claims he does Biggrin
