I should say our top 3 were excellent. Movement, decision making, etc. It's just the final finish that deserted them.

there is something for Pellegrini to build on!!

Yeah, and I would like to see more use of Granero in midfield. I know I'm always banging on about him but he really would, imo, help us to keep the ball better than what we do now. He combines really well with Kaka plus he has the vision to play through passes which would really benefit the front players.

Marcelo had a really good run of form there for a bit so I don't fault Pellegrini for sticking with him, he deserved to be in the team but this is now a couple of games where he hasn't been too good so I'd like to see Granero back in there.

It looks good but maybe a little too reliant on the top 3 to score. If Diarra could add a few goals or make sure he makes runs into the box more often then it could work out.

I think Granero is capable of this.

The mind boggled when I saw Raul come on but not Granero. I think we would have pressued a lot more with him on instead of Raul allthough don't know if we would scored or not.
On the other hand we have to remember that if Raul didn't come on and we still lost I think Pellegrini would have been grilled by the Madrid media. Nice to hear that Kaka showed up but he needs somebody who is on his level of football intelligence or higher. Kaka would be the focal point and he would have somebody more pacy and direct in Ronaldo to combine with while also having somebody smarter and a better passer like Granero to combine with. The question is whether or not Granero is solid enough defensively. Marcelo is fine defensively in midfield and he has the stamina needed.

Also great to hear about Ramos and since the Milan game(away) I think he has started to look more and more like the big player he was in 07/08.

Anyone who doubts Ramos' ability needs their head looking at. A 23 year old defender who has 100+ caps for Madrid and 50+ caps for Spain; he is not only athletic, pacey and strong, but he is also very good in the air, has excellent technique for a defender and is a genuine goal threat.

He still needs to work on his positioning, temperament, and he is a bit sloppy at times, but I think he'll turn out to be one of the best defenders in modern football; Maldini said as much himself, and who is anyone to doubt him.

I thought Ramos had one of the best games that I've seen him have in a long time, defensively. The only time he started to have trouble was towards the end of the first half when Messi started make his little runs, from the right to the centre, and Henry kept getting in behind him.

His problem the last season or so has been that he hasn't looked concentrated at all which might be down to things off field where he doesn't seem like he has been the most focused at all times. Without really knowing im guesing he has let some of the hype from this 07/08 super season get to his head. Aside from that I don't think he has any inherent weakness allthough he should improve his crossing but at the same time he often gets the ball at bad areas which aren't fit for good crosses.

After suffering a defeat at the hands of Barcelona on Sunday night, the hapless evening of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was completed after he was involved in a car crash.

Los Blancos' returned to Valdebebas on the team coach, where they then went their separate ways back to their respective homes.

However, AS report that Benzema's journey ended prematurely after he drove his Audi into some barriers and then an oak tree close to his house.

His car was badly damaged, but fortunately for the 21-year-old, he emerged unscathed despite crashing at around 40-50 kilometres an hour.

The accident took place at around 02:00 CET on Monday morning. A number of other Real Madrid players, such as Raul and Cristiano Ronaldo, live in the same area.

    lol!

I would question whether he was drunk, but he's a muslim...

    http://marcawas5.recoletos.es/blogs/Controlador?opcion=9&codPost=4111

I think Anelka's problems were more overt, at least Benzema is not refusing to train (yet) or anything like this but the parallels are there. Anelka would only talk with Karembeu and Geremi he was really isolated only living with his brother.

Anelka is more of rogue. Benzema is temperamental and easily affected. But I think he will conform to authority.

The worst part is that we could have kept Javi Garcia, who I am not a big fan of but at least he's a canterano and charges a fraction of what Gago does. I actually felt sorry for Gago as I thought he had a very good season under Schuster but if he's going to start moaning then he can fuck off. Madrid fans are not going to shed many tears over his departure.

That being said, I doubt the Everton stories are true. Moyes has barely gotten any money to spend in the last few years, so I doubt he would have wanted to spend 15 million on an unproven DM.

Would Bayern go for a straight swap between Raul/Gago/Drenthe/Metzelder for Robben? That would be amazing ok

That's possible. Although they spent about that much on Fellaini if I remember correctly. So who knows.

Fuck knows what's hapepned to Gago. It must be a confidence issue. The Argentine Primera Division may not be what it once was, and therefore may make players look better than they actually are, but Gago is talented and definitely has more to his game than he is currently showing.

It's perhaps becoming increasingly obvious that he isn't the next Redondo, but he is talented. Needs a move. Madrid are too big for him.

At the moment. I think he'll probably turn out to be very good but he made the jump to a big club, as many young players do these days, far too early.
