It's perhaps becoming increasingly obvious that he isn't the next Redondo, but he is talented. Needs a move. Madrid are too big for him.

At the moment. I think he'll probably turn out to be very good but he made the jump to a big club, as many young players do these days, far too early.

I think there's more to it than that though because until last season Gago was showing good progression. He showed some good things under Capello and then had an outstanding end of the season with Schuster. Admittedly he didn't benefit with playing with Lass under Juande since they're quite incompatible, but that's no excuse for his horror shows against Barcelona and Liverpool for example. Lass managed to look a quality player while also suffering from that incompatibility. And this season Gago has looked garbage no matter who he's played next to or against which team.

And now he's in a very tricky situation because the club is unlikely to sell him or even loan him out given the fact that Diarra will be in ACON for a month.

Gago never looked great to me, i don't get why everybody is so shocked like a world class player has become bad...he was a decent prospect who's not improved. That's all there is to it. And a decent prospect to SOME people.

    1. I changed my mind to leaving the board for 6 months.
    2. I haven't reneged on anything - I never said that I had to serve my six months without logging in immediately. I will leave for 6 months, just dont know when. Real Madrid C.F. 2009/10 - Page 29 F_biggri

@Jaime - Madrid fans werent saying "He's not bad." He was being talked about as if he were great when he was average. As it turns out, 'average' was his peak - Now he really is shit.

Thought Higuain would be a gem though. Real Madrid C.F. 2009/10 - Page 29 F_ok

When Gago first came you have to remember that we were dealing with Emerson and Mahamadou Diarra as the central midfield players, so you can see how we could get carried away. Still, he did have some great performances for us. Like the 1-5 we won in the Mestalla in 07-08 he was superb. Unfortunately he has completely lost his way.

Doesn't look good unfortunately. They are still doing tests but unless there is conclusive evidence that he is ok, they won't let him play.

I feel it is my responsibility since I was probably the one who more often then not argued with you. At the moment it seems that you TURNED out to be right and what I mean is that when you were saying he was crap he was actually playing quite well. As others have said he looked quite good under Shuster and he was progressing. Now what has happened since is a shame because he has been terrible at times. That doesn't mean he doesn't have a chance to grow into the player many thought he might be but for now it would be better if he took the road he should have taken when he got to Europe which is to progress in a manner where there isn't too much pressure and then build from there on.

For now you are the victor. <Ale>

P.S. But you lost on De Rossi. Razz

06/07 - Serie A midfielder of the year (Totti won player of the year)

07/08 - Serie A midfielder of the year, Italian player of the year, La Gazzetta Calcio player of the year.

08/09 - DDR's wife goes missing, literally just disappearing one morning and not coming back. De Rossi confesses suffering from depression due to what happened with his wife, culminating his worst season for AS Roma yet.

09/10 - Mediocre. He's just not the same.

Basically, he went from World Class and a top 5 midfielder in the world to quite frankly, a little shit.

    Bit different to Gago.

But I don't feel has improved. Around 06/07 I felt he was becoming a very good player but since he has disapointed too many times in Cl. Hopefully he will pick it up but I figured he would be a star for Italy by now.

I agree, but I'm not sure that the club would be willing to take that risk with a canterano. Then again, Pellegrini even tested Pepe as a DM (and he still plays there for Portugal quite a bit) so it wouldn't really be that big of a risk. Even Ramos could play as DM as a last resort as he's done it well in the past.

So Gago can certainly fuck off asap as far as I'm concerned Very Happy

Also, if that lineup Marca posted is true I think we'll see an excellent offensive game from us tonight.
