    Trémoulinas <Ale>

A big club(Madrid) should buy him in the summer.

There are not many good left backs around.

I orginally thought it was a Trémoulinas assist for Chamakh's goal, but according to FF it's not Evil or Very Mad

Apperantly Mellberg was sent off after the final whistle as well.

his positioning, defensively is awful if he's a DM, he doesn't seem to be doing much defending

he's an awesome player, his positivity is excellent even if his execution and decision making exasperates.
He's not doing much defending because he doesn't have to today. Consider that Barca are the most attacking team in the world. They have Alves a RB (super attacking) Puyol at CB (can be as bad as Vidic/Carragher) and Valdes in goal (only slightly better than Almunia) yet they still have a very decent defensive record.

He is the Yaya Monster. Its such a shame he had to play CB vs Chelsea at SB last year. He would have owned that midfield. Against big opposition IMO he's more important than Xavi or Iniesta for controlling the midfield.

He's probably resting him, it is only Stuttgart.

No I just like to remind the cules every now and again that they can't pretend to be paupers. It's just hilarious that the players they spend millions on are a) cursed and b) not eligible for CL. Ale

    a) Better to have just one player cursed rather than our entire club.

2004-2005: Round of 16: Real Madrid 1-2 Juventus
2005-2006: Round of 16: Real Madrid 0-1 Arsenal
2006-2007: Round of 16: Real Madrid 4-4* Bayern Munich
2007-2008: Round of 16: Real Madrid 2-4 AS Roma
2008-2009: Round of 16: Real Madrid 0-5 Liverpool
2009-2010: Round of 16: Real Madrid 1-2 Lyon

    cheers

    b) At least we knew in advance that he's ineligible

Barça were awesome too though. Amazing movement and work rate from every single outfield player last night. Even with just a few mins to go, Messi was charging Lehmann down. And his kicking was awful all game long as a result. I can't remember the last time this season that all 11 players showed so much effort in closing the opposition down. It was like having 11 Etoo's on the field.

For me Dani Alves also had a tremendous game. The guy could easily be a midfield playmaker, that's how much ability he has on the ball. But his ridiculous energy level means he'd be a tactical nightmare, just running around everywhere like crazy! Should be a brand ambassador for Red Bull or Duracell or something.

But definitely the best part of last night was seeing Yaya Toure's performance. He was playing CM, not DM, so he wasn't shackled and had a bit more freedom to make his charging runs forward, and complemented that with his usual array of passes. Pep's comments on him after the game:

"Yaya es un animal. Tiene unas condiciones sobrehumanas, pero es un poco despistado para jugar de mediocentro porque va a lo suyo. Pero, cuando se puede desenganchar, tiene está arrancada, este despliegue físico, que es impresionante"

Translation: Yaya is an animal. He has some superhuman conditions Laughing

But then he goes on to mention that Yaya doesn't always adhere to tactics and likes to have a free role...which is definitely spectacular but hints to me the reason why Busquets has been playing a lot more this season.
