If I hear one more Arsenal fan complain about referees this season I am going to hunt them down and stab them in the eye. You've been warned.

Anyway, decent result considering how shit we were. As Prof said in the Arsenal thread, the fact we allow everyone to play against us is going to be our achilles heel.

Not overly confident in the second leg though.

Was anyone watching the match in Spain (or with Spanish commentary anyway). What did they say about Cesc scoring the pen? with some venom too.

    Wenger:

"We lost the ball too quickly, and watched them play but in fairness to the players they kept believing and going. They had chances and we had unbelievable chances and in the end it was 2-2," Wenger added.

"My regret tonight, and I don't deny we played a great side, we gave two cheap goals away. For me we had 70 minutes where we had every chance to win, which is what I told the players.

Yeh I saw that, pretty accurate to be fair.

With the formation we now adopt, it makes sense to adopt a high pressing game as I mentioned in the Arsenal thread. Not expecting much from the return leg.

It's Barca's to throw away IMO.

Strange for Wenger to say that. Seems like it was Barca who had the unbelievable chances and they also gave away two very soft goals.

Not quite, because we were the ones with the chances, and u had 1-2 good ones for a goal and thats it, and for most of the game it was us who had all the possession in the world to kill the game, but we didnt.

come the fuck on jaime, my man, you know we are going to score at the camp nou.

English teams have your number (defensively at least) at the Camp Nou ok Ale

English teams this, english teams that, blah, blah, blah.

You are assuming that Barcelona are certain to score (an opinion).
I am stating that your record at home against English teams in recent years isn't impressive (you can even throw in a 0-0 draw v Celtic too if you like). (A fact)

    Facts Ale

How many times have we failed to score against an english team, when we have the 2nd leg at home?

They can't come and close up shop like Chelsea and man utd, because they have to score to progress.

I not sure of our record once we have the 2nd leg at the camp nou, but i'm sure its pretty good.

When was the last time you played an English team with the 2nd leg at the Camp Nou? Us in 2006?

Since then you've played Liverpool, Man United and Chelsea. And your record at home is won 1 drawn 2. Maybe you are better suited to play Arsenal and maybe you will score, but don't take it for granted.

Just got in from the game.

It's difficult to sum up Arsenal, they are so enigmatic. They deserve to be castigated for such a poor performance in the first 70 minutes, but then deserve credit for fighting back from such a deficit against a brilliant side. It's very worrying how poorly we have started games against top teams, out-played and in most cases less application.

Barca were so much better than us. There was a gulf in class for the majority of the match. It was infuriating how easily they went to ground, and how generous the referee was for most of the match. It sometimes felt like no one was allowed near a Barcelona player. Having said that, my impression at the time was that it was a soft penalty so we might have been fortunate. Puyol's a tosser, so fuck him, but I felt we got a little lucky there. Glad we restored some pride, but Barcelona were a joy to watch. Can't help but feel that gaining pride may cost us in the long run as well. We've suffered a few big injuries, and despite being an uphill task Wenger will feel he has to go for it in the second leg, whereas at 0-2 he might have shifted his focus to the league.
