    Alonso average... Laugh

Its kind of hard to see shit, when your eyes are always full of it, don't expect you to see the averageness of Alonso.

When you have Lucas and Carrick (assuming you are english), playing for your club and country in Central Midfield.

How retarded do you have to be to think any of us rates either of those players? Do you never even read any of the premiership threads? Doh

If you want to see an average player, try watching some lower league football. You don't have a clue really.

Did i say you rate them, but when you are subjected to shit consistently, if a player comes along that looks better than them, you tend to think he is better than he actually his.

Ok you are making the RETART upset you now, objective achieved.

I never watched this game so can someone please tell me if these ratings are right or not?

Casillas – 6: Beaten to the ball in the air by Hawsawi when he tried to clear a corner. Could do little about the deflected second goal.

Sergio Ramos – 6.5: Rarely troubled at the back, but left too many gaps. Came close twice to scoring from headers in the first half.

Puyol – 6: Showed a bit of uncertainty and hesitancy in the opening minutes of the game. Eventually grew in confidence and it instilled a calming influence on the backline whenever they were under pressure.

Pique – 6: Allowed Hawsawi to tower ahead of him to score the opening goal. Too slack with his marking, but never shy to bring the ball forward out of defence.

Arbeloa – 6: The busiest of the defenders at the start of the game as the Saudi’s attacked his flank. Provided the necessary attacking assistance sparingly.

Busquets – 5.5: Had to be very sharp when Saudi Arabia took the game to Spain early on. Lost the ball on too many occasions and caught out of position too many times.

Silva – 7: Constantly slipped in cleverly disguised through balls. Faded off slightly at the start of the second half.

Xabi Alonso – 8: Always worked in tandem with Busquets to clean up whatever got past his midfield collaborator. Scored his side’s second goal with a piledriver from 25 yards out before providing the assist for the winner from a corner delivery.

Xavi – 7: Took a while to get into the game but eventually got into his usual flow. His superb ball control kept his side in possession but not as sharp with his typical through passes.

Iniesta – 7.5: Assisted Villa’s goal with a pin-point cross. Saw plenty of the ball early on and was involved in almost every attacking move as he roamed all over the pitch.

Villa – 7: Did not look isolated despite playing alone upfront. Always dropped down or peeled wide to open up the game. Had a couple of decent chances before scoring with a well-taken header.

    Substitutes:

Jesus Navas – 7: The tiring Saudi full-backs struggled to cope with his searing pace. It was his shot on goal that produced the corner which led to the winning goal.

Pedro – 6.5: Full of running and hustling. Showed some great skills as well. A commendable debut.

Marchena – 5: Failed to close down the Saudi forwards when they attacked and that led to their second goal.

Capdevila – 6: Showed more attacking intent that Arbeloa with threatening runs and dangerous crosses.

Llorente – 7: Did what he does best by adding height and strength in the opposition box as he headed in the winning goal in injury time.

    Javi Martinez – N/A

I didn't think anyone played particularly well for Spain, probably the worst I've seen them play.

Navas looked bright when he came on. Iniesta was probably Spain's best player, but he was far from spectacular as well. Actually thought Martinez had a decent 10 minute cameo as well, can't think of another Spanish player like him.

It's wrong though. Classic case of some people taking themselves far too seriously via the Internet...ridiculous to have player ratings for a friendly, where physical/mental effort varies greatly among players within the same team, let alone between opponents. Goal.com does specialise in this kind of over-analysis, trying to portray themselves as a serious website Doh

Xabi Alonso wasn't that good, and Busquets wasn't that bad. In fact, the whole team was just kind of average, a 6/10 performance. Mentally you could see the players were just very casual, so the close match is not a surprise.

Saudi set up well - they kept their lines close together in front of their penalty area, and 1 or 2 "drones" would step up out of their line to pressure the ball depending on which area of the pitch it was. And they were surprisingly good when they did have possession.

Spain's formation was a bit flawed...they didn't need both Busquets and Alonso, who both sit deep and are generally un-penetrative with their passing. Someone like Navas should have started, or even a 4-4-2 with Torres up front (when he's fit). Iniesta was the only bright spark in the game.

Casillas needs to sort himself out...he's been untouchable for so long that it's showing in his game, and his off-the-pitch shenanigans with Sara Carbonero probably aren't helping either. Do Spain have one more friendly? If so, Del Bosque should start Reina in that game, just to give Casillas a wake up call.

Alonso's good, but he's not a CM. Overkill having him and Busquets in the same midfield, I don't really care who the DM is (Busquets/Martinez/Alonso) but there definitely shouldn't be two of them, unless perhaps Spain need to close a game out.

Yesterday you had Xabi + Busquets sitting on top of the defenders, with Xavi given the responsibility of the rest of the midfield, and he took looked fairly ordinary. Tactical error as much as anything else, not Alonso's or Busquets' fault.

Either play Cesc there, or preferably Iniesta.

España and Chile look like obvious picks. Nevertheless, España had better beat Honduras (TOUGH TOUGH GAME) or they could be eliminated.

I'm going with my upset special of the group stage and go with Chile and Honduras to come out from this group mes amis because that vaunted Spain midfield can't cut it against non-europeans.

I expect a mini-spanish conquest. An initial few minutes of resistance by the south americans followed by 80 minutes of raping all over by the spanish.
