Abreu has balls of steel. Wow.
Feel sympathy for Gyan, he's crying his eyes out but has had an awesome tournament.

Cruel for Ghana but you can't say that Uruguay don't deserve to be there.
Great work from Muslera in the shootout.

I knew Abreu would do that. He did in the final against Flamengo last april.

Even the commentator said that he would chip.

He did that in the Copa America a couple of years back and Sheva says he did it in a club game - Ghana should have done their homework !

Yeah, such a shame that he lost his control for that first penalty, especially as he did so well at the shoot-out. Congratulations to Uruguay, but it's a shame that Suarez can't be banned for the rest of the tournament. They're only through because of his deliberate cheating, it seems unfair that he has a chance of being in a World Cup final solely because he is a cheat.

Astonishing game. Absolutely gutted for Ghana, and Gyan in particular. But they've done themselves very proud in this competition and given the age of their team there's a lot more to come from them. Neither side deserved to lose, but congrats to Uruguay.

Why do you say that?
I think everything he did was just pure instinct and adrenaline-driven. Anyone would sacrifice themselves by blocking a last minute goal that way, and take a chance that the penalty would be missed. It worked. I don't see him as a cheat, because he did get punished.
And his reactions after that were just relief. Pure, raw emotion IMO.

Suarez will probably get a two game suspension so he probably is out of the tournament. He cheated but he was punished and justly so...Ghana just couldn't make the penalty.

Also he is a good penalty taker. So not only they had a pen to win it Uruguay missed one of their best penalty takers in the shoot out + misses the whole semi final. It's enough punishment. I dont know why people would whinge about it anybody would do that(except glen johnson of course)

El Loco Abreu la picó!!!
URUGUAY! URUGUAY! URUGUAY!
FUCK YOU!
The cheating diving c**ts got the team they DID NOT want in the semifinal. Let's see how the Dutchies match up against Uruguay.

I love how Andy Townsend is blaming the pen miss on run ups..even though the other guy took a huge run up and missed as well.
Hasselbaink took short run ups and smashed the c**ts in the corner.

Re: WC2010 Quarterfinal - Uruguay vs. Ghana
What a great game.
Neither team really deserved to lose, although I thought Ghana edged extra time and looked far the more likely as it went on. Uruguay stopped attacking in the 2nd half.
The vicious irony of the Suarez handball is they would've been better off if the ref hadn't seen it, as once they missed that there was only one shootout winner.
Mensah's penalty was woeful - at least Gyan's last minute one had the keeper beat!
---
Dream game for Netherlands - Uruguay lose two (maybe three) key players and had to play extra time.

Albertini used to just take a one step run as well. The run up has nothing to do with it.
