Breaking news: Ibrahimovic to be sold to Milan Empty Breaking news: Ibrahimovic to be sold to Milan

Post by fcb Wed Aug 25, 2010 5:29 pm

Galliani and Rosell have left the restaurant where they met for a meal and to discuss Ibrahimovic, and have now proceeded to the club's offices where they were joined by Ibra's agent, and Barça's vice-president and treasurer.

Contrary to all previous stories of a loan deal...a Marca journalist is now claiming that a permanent transfer will be done. A fee of between 25-30m euros, with Borriello in exchange.

Still many questions to be answered, esp. with regards to Ibra's wages. I'll be shocked if Milan can afford that (12m a year) *and* pay a pretty sizeable transfer fee. Let's see what news the next few hours bring.

But if that is indeed the deal that is struck, I wouldn't complain. Borriello can remain on the bench all season for all I care, but financially it's a pretty good deal for Barça.

Based on what I've read, in a strict accounting sense, we wouldn't make too much of a loss, because Ibra was valued at 45m (Etoo was counted as a free transfer), and had a 4 year contract. So approx. 10-11m was already amortized last year, meaning we'd about break even on the transfer. And gain a huge benefit in getting his wages off the books.

But as I said, let's see....still just rumours for now.

Yeah I suppose they added up to 20 million less than what Ibra cost alone <Ale> Ibra's great though, he's just at the wrong club or possibly the wrong league. He'd be brilliant in the Premier League <Ale>

I think ibra would have done a good job for us this season, but if we are getting cash for the deal i'm good with it.

I like borriello, he did for milan last season (holding up the ball, playing with his back to goal), exactly what pep wanted ibra to do, so i think he would be a good signing.

Ibra's agent is too big of a c**t and like yaya for that reason he must leave.

I hope Liverpool, learns from this and get the deal done

I wanted him to stay in the club and prove what he's worth. I'm sure that he would have been much better in the second season and gives us variety of opportunities.
But 30 mill plus Boriello... and all those wages...

Yeah the wages are crazy. Messi's the highest earner on something betw. 12m and 13m, then Ibra on 12m. IIRC the next one is Xavi on 9m, and everyone else is on 7m or less, incl. Villa. Maybe Iniesta is on 8m, not sure.

I do think he would have gone to City if not for the lack of CL football.

And I'm indeed glad to see that cancer agent away from the club.

Also, let me clarify that even though I started the thread, I don't actually believe this rumour more than 20%. Sounds too good to be true. A loan deal (but with Milan paying all wages) is still probably the most likely. 25-30m maybe the buyout clause for next season?

Also, the squad is scheduled to be presented at Camp Nou in the next 10 mins. Will be interesting to see if Ibra is there.

Hmmm, it's hard to see Milan paying 25-30M Euros plus such high wages, Berlusconi really doesn't like putting his hand in his pocket these days.

Update: talks have paused because it's time for the game, but will resume later.

As I told you, the original rumour was probably too good to be true. They're now talking about either:

    1. A loan
    2. A permanent transfer but with no Milan players

I would definitely prefer a few more millions and no Boriello.. the only ones I would want from Milan are Pato and Thiago Luiz.. The rest wont add anything.

But I am still hoping that Ibra stays!!

If he goes for under 40m (or worse in a part exchange deal for some dead weight Milan player or even worse on loan) then I must say that Rosell is even worse than I thought.. What has he managed so far?? He went on a long holiday, signed off on a loan already arranged, sold Toure, Marquez, Chigry, and now possibly Ibra and brought in Adriano... A massive fail so far!! FFS even I could have done better.

Well, as I said, if you look at it from a financial perspective, Ibra is currently worth around 30m euros.

But of course in terms of football valuations, his value has dropped quite a bit. It's basically his problem in Europe that makes everything much worse.

And no, Pep should not be allowed any control over transfers any more.

Why are so many clubs so bad at transfers? Most of us on this board could do a better job than these numpties.

It really is quite incredible how incompetent some of these people are. Of course generally people like us only take quality and transfer fee into consideration. So we don't account for things that go on beyond the scenes. Nonetheless I still think sportsmanagement could improve across the board. People like Secco and Mijatovic have proven that you can't give this position to just anybody.

Yeah, the culture needs to change because football has changed...the finances are so complicated now that you need knowledgeable people in charge. The old style of just having famous ex-footballers in charge, doesn't work.

    -----------------------------

According to a quote from Galliani on Milan's website, negotiations will resume at 12pm tomorrow. So we shouldn't expect any news tonight...unless some journalist can get some inside info.

Barca would take a big loss from this transfer, but I think it will work out to their advantage. With Ibrahimovic at Barca, Villa will inevitably be pushed out to the wing - where he would be wasted. With Ibra gone, Villa will play down the middle where he is the most effective.

From these quotes it sounds like it'll be an outright sale, and with no Milan players going the other way:

“Tomorrow at noon, I have an appointment with the president of Barcelona. Let’s see,” Galliani said on Milan’s website. “The negotiations are very complex, very difficult, very expensive. The will of Barcelona is to sell the player to Milan, the availability of the player also like that. There is a lot of money to overcome and this is the difficulty.”

Milan is reportedly prepared to take the Sweden striker on loan, while Barcelona wants to sell him in a full transfer.

Galliani said Marco Borriello or Klaas-Jan Huntelaar would not be part of any deal.

“We are here to try to take Ibrahimovic to Milan, that’s all,” Galliani said. “I will try and that’s why I am here. I do not move, even it means not going to Milan against Lecce on Sunday. I do all that is in my ability and capacity to try to bring this great champion to Milan.

    “It is very difficult.”

Still hope it is not true... then we are a bit short up front again.. only Pedro, Villa and Messi as first choice, with Iniesta and Maxwell making the odd appearance. Bojan as backup and Jeffren as a poor fifth choice.

So back to square one.. and no physical presence.
