He can say whatever he wants, what Pep does brings us titles, so he should shut up.
His problem is his ego and his lazyness. I mean, he was a champion wherever he went, but fuck that career where u spend only a season or two at the club. And he will never be treated as one of the greats of any of those clubs. He should have sticked to Juve or Inter for longer period. Or try it with Barca, but being a second string was never his aim.
Personally, i prefer him to stay and fight for the place in the starting line-up, he has all the talent in the world and he wont find these kind of players around him in another team to help him become something bigger.

don't know how true this is

It is true that Pepe does this. But who knows if this was the exact confrontation between Zlatan and The Cardigan.
Yup, and I can see why this must irk Ibra too... he is used to playing in a free role behind the centre forward... but at Barca, only Messi gets that privilege. IMO Pep missed a trick by not trying Ibra in a withdrawn role, you can have 2 players with a free role behind the striker.

Not sure whether this is the reason for the rift, but surely this played a part in the mind...

Why should Ibra get a free role? Surely a basic requirement for that is to first understand your role in the tactical system in a fixed role first, before you can start fulfilling other roles.

And Messi is Messi. If Ibrahimovic can't handle having the best player in the world in the team, then he should go.

Coz otherwise you would be mad to spend close to 70m getting Ibra. I mean, he is not a centre forward. You could ve bought better specialised center forwards for 20m. Ibra is a crack as a withdrawn forward. As a CF, he is just ordinary. Its like if you buy Masch and play him as a AM... it would be stupid, coz thats not why he is such a good player.

I've just read that Barcelona have given Milan permission to deal directly with the player and right now Baldie and Raiola are meeting with Ibrahimovic.

    aand...

Huntelaar is rumoured to have accepted going to Schalke, who will pay Milan around 15m.

But surely you wouldn't pay 90m euro for a player and then not use him in his best position? I tend to agree with this last bit. But as mentioned before, if Pep did not realise this would be a problem then he is more naive then I would have imagined.

Yeah exactly that's part of the problem...Pep bought Ibra as a target man kind of player, but a more skillful version of one. That's why we come back to the moral of this whole story - Pep should not be in charge of transfers!!!!!

Maybe they're hoping for a higher fee next year.

Pep seriously needs to learn to deal with stronger personalities. He's forced Eto'o, Toure, and Ibra out with not much attempt to rescue their working relationships. No wonder he wants to fill the squad with submissive Masia nancyboys FFS. lol!

I don't think Toure's was a personality problem. It was to do with playing time. The others...yes. You can add Hleb too, as he moaned a couple of times about not playing enough, and soon he was frozen out even more.

    ----------

But anyway, I'm kind of excited right now about the news from Italian sources...incidentally, this is coming from publications that are part of Berlusconi's Mediaset group...40m (albeit over 3 years) Crazy

Milan will accommodate his wages by getting rid of Huntelaar (Schalke for 13m euros) and Flamini, who collectively earn around 8.5m euros a year.

Sounds too good to be true, so let's see what tomorrow brings. If Rosell really pulls off a sale of Ibrahimovic for 40m, then he really is a transfer genius!!!

I still think it's important that the club at least considers one more attacking signing. I can already imagine a situation next season where say, Pedro is injured for 2 weeks, Villa/Messi/Bojan start, we are losing the game...and all we have on the bench in terms of an attacker is...Jeffren Neutral

I think if Ibra joins us his role will not be fixed as CF, as we saw in the Gamper trophy the front three kept switching positions so when u replace Pato with Huntelaar and Ibra with Borriello it looks much more dangerous and much more creative from all three players. I hope it will not be fixed positions.

    I can see Milan playing:

    -----------------------------------Amelia------------------------------------
    -------Sokratis---------Nesta-------------Thiago S.------Zambrotta-----
    -----------------------------------Pirlo-------------------------------------
    -----------------Boateng----------------------Flamini---------------------
    -------Pato--------------------Ibrahimovic---------------Ronaldinho-----

or incase Pato or Ronaldinho is out we can use something like

    ----------------------------------Amelia-----------------------------------
    -----Sokratis-----------Nesta-----------Thiago S.-----Zambrotta------
    ------------------------------------Pirlo------------------------------------
    ----------------Boateng-------------------------Flamini------------------
    ------------------------------------Seedorf-------------------------------
    ----------------------Pato------------------------Ibrahimovic----------

@EMP: there's a widely reported quote from him about Milan needing Ibrahimovic even more now that the draw's been made. Do you have anything else?

    ------------------------------------

All sources reporting that Ibrahimovic will decide today. Everyone is talking about a fee of 40m that was originally reported by Mediaset, but interestingly, Mundo Deportivo's sources within the club claim that figure is not true.

Also interesting to do the math from Milan's perspective:

They convinced the player to reduce his wages to 9m a year, which will be funded by selling Huntelaar and either selling or loaning Flamini. Their collective wages amount to around 8.5m euros a year.

The first transfer fee installment of 15m, due now, will be covered by Huntelaar's transfer fee.

Next summer, 9 mega contracts reportedly expire. So that frees up a huge amount of money for Milan. Either that or a transfer fee for some player (perhaps Flamini) will cover the next installment of 15m euros.

And the final installment of 10m probably doesn't matter, since I bet Ibrahimovic will be at City by then. So they'll effectively be paying us the 10m.

So overall if what's reported is true, then it's a very clever deal by Milan as well. They meet Barça's demands, convince the player to bring his salary in line with their budget, and they solve the transfer without investing any new money...but just redirecting funds and adjusting their squad.

    Latest updates:

    - Ibrahimovic trained normally with the Barça players this morning Shocked

    - The lawyers are currently working on drawing up all the necessary contracts, with Galliani co-ordinating things from his hotel.

    - Raiola is talking to Barça representatives about Ibrahimovic's "golden handshake", or severance payment...once that is decided, the deal will most probably be confirmed. No doubt they are asking for some ridiculous amount Rolling Eyes

Basically a 'loyalty' payment, because the contract was not completed.

It's a controversial concept, because it's difficult to clarify who really wants to move. The outgoing player will always claim some money and say that the club sold him, whereas the club will try to say it was the player's decision to leave.

Etoo famously wanted a payment of 3m euros...Ireland had problems with City earlier this summer, and now Ibrahimovic also wants some money. And of course his agent.

But in this instance I think Barça have to pay, because they are indeed the ones selling him.

Appparently the golden handshake amount has been agreed.... its rumoured to compensate Ibra for taking the pay cut at Milan.

The change is gradual, you cannot replace your starting XI overnight, you keep the experienced ones that represent the glory of the club (Pirlo, Nesta, Inzaghi, Seedorf) to teach the newcommers about the way the club is run and replace the ones that lost the hunger/ability (Dida, Gattuso, Kaladze, Jankulovski). Milan are no longer an oldies club as people continue to refer them to, Leonardo did well to give some youngsters a starting berth (Thiago Silva, Antonini, Abate) and now Allegri is bringing in new players from Primavera (Oduamadi, Merkel, Strasser, Verdi).
