    lol!

    That is genius Laugh

To be fair to him, sounded like he had a good sense of humour.

The point he was trying to make is valid though, but as is the way with the gimps at talksport completely ignored and instead picked apart on something else.

If Fabregas is worth 45-50 million, then how is Modric worth 20 million? Would have been better to ask why Henderson is worth 20 million though as I don't think even Arsenal fans would disagree that Modric is worth more than Chelsea are offering

I would value Cesc a bit more highly than Modric, but not a great deal in it, and in the current market £20m is far below his worth (even if I think such fees are grossly inflated). It's just hilarious to justify signing someone based on made-up stats on a computer game. Although if you lot are still looking for a decent striker, my investigations suggest Cherno Samba could be your man.

And really Kas? It doesn't sound like Cesc will be forcing through a move or holding the club hostage (although these things can change quickly), so Barcelona can talk as much shit as they want about emotional attachments or wear and tear, unless they offer the right money Arsenal won't accept. And £10m more than Henderson is not the right money.

This isn't my, or Barça fans', valuation of him. Our valuation would be 5m euros ok

I'm just basing the estimate of 30m pounds (around 35m euros) on the current rumours, and what is realistically the most likely scenario. This isn't about "wear and tear", it's about the fact that he has 1 year less on his contract than he did last summer, so obviously his value is going to be around 5-6m less than last year. Then it just depends on what additional premium Barça will pay on top of his on-the-books value, and that isn't likely to change from last summer...if anything, it'll be less.

@Noah: why the fuck should Henderson's price have anything to do with Cesc? It's not Barça's problem if Liverpool think a player like Henderson is worth 22m euros Laugh

the reason being this fella was clearly picking an argument over the Cecs fee simply because it's Spurs V Arsenal, which to me was a bit unnecessary and off the point. The Henderson fee is more justified as a comparison because a) it has already happened as opposed to just speculation and b) between 2 English clubs, which is what it seems would be the case with Modric as opposed to Fab abroad which is a different market in itself.

If Henderson is worth 20mill, than Modric is 70mill.

Modric changes tack after Spurs stand firm over Chelsea interest

    By Sam Wallace, Football Correspondent

Luka Modric is expected to backtrack on an interview he gave over the weekend in which he intimated he wanted to join Chelsea, by issuing a statement this week in which he will attempt to rebuild the damage done to his relationship with both his club, Tottenham Hotspur, and their chairman, Daniel Levy.

After an eventful five days in Modric's career, culminating in an interview published on Saturday in which he said that his ambition lay away from Spurs – and potentially at Chelsea – the player is said to be keen to take the sting out of the situation.

Modric is expected to clarify in his statement that he does not have his heart set on a move to Chelsea – just that if Spurs agreed a deal with the club he would be prepared to go. Sources at Tottenham have said that regardless of what Modric said over the weekend, he is not in the frame of mind to go to war with the club to force a move.

The Croatia international has always enjoyed a good relationship with Levy, whose last conversation with Modric at the end of the season was said to be positive. The club feel that the player was ill-advised to do the interview and did not realise the impact that his words would have just two days after news had leaked that Spurs had rejected a £22m bid from Chelsea.

Spurs are puzzled about the involvement in the Modric saga of the last few days of Kia Joorabchian – advisor to Carlos Tevez and Mark Hughes – especially as they have always enjoyed a good relationship with Modric and his agent, Mario Mamic. They are eager to discover whether Joorabchian has an interest in Modric signing for Chelsea as opposed to any of the other clubs interested in him – such as Manchester United or Manchester City.

The unequivocal statement released by Levy on Saturday that Spurs would not sell Modric under any circumstances is a demonstration of the strength of feeling over the saga. Levy does not regard the situation as any thing like the one when Dimitar Berbatov eventually left for Manchester United in 2008. Spurs think the matter is retrievable and that Modric will be happy to stay at the club for another season, at least.

Before Modric's interview, Levy was prepared to give the player a new contract above his current £45,000-a-week deal to reflect his contribution last season. However, they now feel that it would send out the wrong signal to reward him so soon after speaking out. Nevertheless, he is likely to get a new deal before the end of the year.

Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham manager, said yesterday other big clubs were interested inModric. The notion he would only wish to stay in London were he to leave Spurs is not thought to be accurate. Redknapp said it was significant that Levy had taken a very strong stance over Modric which would make it hard for him to change his mind. "If Daniel's saying 'No' he really can't be seen to be going back on that now," Redknapp said. "He's made a very strong statement. I wouldn't see Daniel backtracking on that at any price."

The events of the last few days have also caused bad feeling between Spurs and Chelsea. Levy accused the club of making their £22m offer public. Chelsea have denied that was the case. Modric has five years left on his contract which puts him in a weak position to attempt to force a deal, especially with Chelsea and City unlikely to bid more than £35m.

Redknapp said that Spurs needed to demonstrate to Modric that they had "ambition". He said: "If we can add one or two good players to our squad there's no reason we can't have another great season. So Tottenham could be a great club for him to stay with for the next few years. That's what we're hoping for."

Yeah, because we all know English players are massively overpriced in relation to their foreign counterparts. Paulo Ferreira, Juan Veron, Dimitar Berbatov, Andrei Shevchenko, Robinho, Fernando Torres, Manu Adebayor, Edin Dzeko, Adrian Mutu, Asier Del Horno, Anderson, Arshavin, John Obi Mikel, Khalid Bouhlarouz, Yury Zhirkov, Jo - they all represented great value for money, especially if you include their lower-than-English-market-value wages. I bet Fergie is laughing his way to the bank as Spurs picked up Huddlestone, Lennon and Bale for a combined total of less than ManYoo paid for Anderson, such is the ludicrous overpricing of English talent.

    Erm

Obviously Bale is actually Welsh, and in a few cases I'm talking about transfers between EPL clubs of foreign players who when they first came to the league from abroad were more reasonably priced. The point is that almost all EPL-EPL transfers carry a premium, regardless of the nationality of the players.

What I want to know is how Fabregas is worth more than Yaya Toure despite being an inferior player. No doubt Fabregas is worth less than he was last summer - more injuries, a relatively crap season and one year closer to the end of his contract should knock at least £10 million off the ludicrous prices being spunked about a year ago.

If his head is in the game he can still have a future at Tottenham, we'll play different players in Prem and UEFA.
Could see him linking up well with Kyle Walker behind him.

Antonio Pedroza Whitham seem to be a new Tottenham player,
said himself in Mexican media a while back that he would become a Tottenham player.
Has stayed at Spurs Lodge this week. Was out of contract with his club, there'll be a £1m compensation fee due to his age.
Talented little striker with mexican dad and english mother. Needs lot of development and will most likely go straight out on loan.

First game this pre season was a borefest, 0-1 against Kaizer Chiefs.
Bale was good, although selfish at times.
Assou-Ekotto and Kaboul were okey, rest were meh
All about the fitness at this time though, but hopefully we'll do better against
Orlando Pirates on tuesday and reach the tournament final.

Has stayed at Spurs Lodge this week. Was out of contract with his club, there'll be a £1m compensation fee due to his age.
Talented little striker with mexican dad and english mother. Needs lot of development and will most likely go straight out on loan.

This player have gone back to Mexico by the way, some ITK claim failed medical.
Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Rumour about a possible loan deal to QPR for John Bostock.
Warnock was his manager back at Palace.

Ziege was only injury free for a year with us, and he couldn't defend for shit.

BAE is miles better than anyone we've had at LB (bar Bale) since I've been supporting the club.

    Since '93:

    ----------------Sullivan

    Carr-------King----------Judas---------BAE

    ----------Carrick-------Modric

    Anderton-------------------------------Ginola
    ------------Berbatov
    -------------------Klinsmann

Bench: Gomes, Dawson, Bale, Huddlestone, Lennon, Sheringham, Keane

*Carr was brilliant in his 1st 2-3 seasons, one of the best RBs in the league. Then he started putting on weight, the fame went to his head and he thought he was better off in Newcastle Rolling Eyes

*Carrick was a joy to watch for 18 months with us... since he left he's got worse, but with us he was far more creative, bold and ran the side seamlessly in Jol's 1st 2 seasons.

We finally welcome a new striker to the club, 16 year old Souleymane Coulibaly.
Believed to have signed for £1.5m / £2m ok

Favourite line up from my time as a supporter:

    Sheringham - Lineker
    Ginola - Gascoigne - Sandro - Anderton
    Assou-Ekotto - Campbell - King - Carr
    Thorstvedt

    subs.
    Gomes
    Mabbutt
    Bale
    Carrick
    Modric
    Berbatov
    Klinsmann

Ziege and Lennon came close to the squad.
Keane been a good servant, but not as good as the 4 world class strikers we've had
