Sigurdsson rejected the chance to work with a manager who got the best out of him for higher wages, oh well. He's a poor man's Modric.

Dempsey no one really cared about, he's 29, is a c**t and Villas Boas probably wont even play him.

What's the situation there? Spurs pay higher wages than Liverpool? Neutral

Yep, on this occasion. He demanded higher wages and Rodgers said see you later son. We brought in players that wanted to play for the club instead <Ale>

For 9/10 players it's about money and ego not the club.

Luis, we hardly paid through the nose for either player. Liverpool could have matched both bids and wages but they got complacent and assumed both were easy done deals. Sig didn't join because you offered him some derisory wage expecting he'd jump at the chance to play for a team who finished 7th and were paying Henderson double. Dempsey, well that was a farce. Offer 3million for a player who scored 23 goals last season and then pretend you're glad he didn't sign despite having no back up or proven goalscorers in your squad.

You are a big club with many fans in Asia. But you can't tell me Liverpool has either the lure or canny management currently to attract any better players than us. We re easily on your level these days so forget about history.

Anyway, fair point about not being born at time of Hillsborough. Although when Diana died I didn't even cry

This is understandable, but at the same time, today seems like an ideal opportunity to get some form of closure. to say: okay the truth is out in the public, the government has apologised, we can't forget what happened but we can't undo it either.

What 'justice' is going to be deemed acceptable? That everyone who did anything wrong that contributed in any way to be in jail? It's never really going to be possible to boil it down to 'this person/these people are responsible for the death of these 96 people' without being very arbitrary, because so many different things contributed to the disaster.

maybe seems a defeatist attitude, but for the families, continuing the campaign and so on is just sentencing themselves to years and years more of interminable court cases which are unlikely to tell them anything they don't already know or that is not now already public knowledge. The campaign for truth has won & campaigns need to have an endpoint.

In terms of justice an obvious strating point would be to have new inquests. That could determine if criminal charges should follow.

Secondly any poloice officer who doctored statements should be prosecuted for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Thirdly, prosecutions for corportate manslaughter, as occurred in the Marchioness Disaster should be considered.

was it the same fans? Surely they were in a Belgian prison being force fed waffles and bitter chocolate.

It was Maggie Thatcher who lobbied for English clubs to be banned from European competition.

Reading through the posts on here it would appear that the general consensus is that 96 people dying in horrific circumstances is fine if you don't like the club they support, and that the (now vindicated it would appear) campaign is nothing more than a nuisance perpetuated by a group of people who, as a result of the club they support, deserve no respect or right to justice.

I hope people are just trolling, because if this is the case it's pretty sad.

To be fair, this board is hardly known for its sympathetic views. Last I heard disabled people aren't worthy of taking part in televised sport.

I'd say it was trolling but you never can tell.

I'm all in favour of 96 people receiving justice. Shame that football rivalries tend to bring out the worst in people. Plenty of Liverpool fans saddened by hillsborough who have no issues with winding Man united fans up about Munich. That is what is sad

I don't agree with this at all. If authority figures have lied and changed statements they should face charges, even if it happened ages ago, and these files should have been made public a long time ago. But I do not like the way Liverpool fans act on the subject or their attitude to people that query their version of events. Lets face it, a public figure mentioning Hillsborough in a way that isn't 100% in line with the justice campaigners is a PR nightmare, the Alan Davies business was an example of that.

The hyper-sensitivity surrounding this issue isn't new, or a secret. Alan Davies will have been aware of the reaction or PR nightmare his comments will have provoked. He will have been aware before he recorded his show, during his show, while editing his show and while publishing his show. He ran willingly into the shit-storm.

I'll assume most of these opinions on the Justice Campaign ascend from media coverage, which by its very native will garner and broadcast reactions from the more colourful or emotional members of the public who don't necessarily induce sympathy. Substitute in the class and regional accent of your own liking and perhaps reaction would be different.
