Abedi Pele, George Weah, Kalusha Bwalya, JayJay Okocha and many others. FFS don't turn into Rosicky. You didn't like Brown Ideye's flick to Emmanuel Emenike for Nigeria's goal?

Edit: "There are no minnows in African football," Vincent Enyeama said. Funny how the naysayers always whinge about this tournament. No credit given to Cape Verde for a good tactical performance - they did not play crap. South Africa did. Ghana v the DR was an entertaining match. Zambia v Ethiopia and Nigeria v Burkina Faso were not shit on a stick.

pretty bad but doesn't seem as violent as Schumacher's, probably due to schumacher's being a head shot, knocking out 3 teeth and putting the guy in a coma. At least he got a red card, schumacher's "challenge" wasn't even considered a foul.

Ivory Coast beat Togo 2-1. Adebayor really ought to have scored very early. Gervinho had a very good match. He seems to turn it on for his country, or perhaps he just doesn't like the eejut poster Rosicky, in which case he shows excellent judgement. The Elephants beat the Sparrow Hawks 2-1 - the first goal the Ivorians have conceded in ACN since Algeria scored in 2010.

South Africa play well and radio silence follows. What a surprise? The gap between the 'lesser' teams and big ones is closing. Egypt has a valid excuse in that the events of Arab Spring there and its aftermath has affected its football. It has been suspended following the deaths last year. That means most of their players do not have match fitness or sharpness. It will take some time to get back to where they were. A pity as they had talented youngsters coming through. Libya too has an excuse due to its infrastructures being destroyed in the overthrow of Gaddafi.

The others are there on merit. Cape Verde has beaten Cameroon and drawn with Morocco and South Africa and will make it to the knockout stage if they beat Angola. A pretty good effort I'd say even if they got out with a loss. Burkina Faso and Ethiopia have done very well as well, as did DR Congo. Even Togo played well despite losing. 17 goals and counting now from 10 matches isn't too bad.

Spoke to Seydou Keita after the match. He couldn't believe that Dauda was not sent off. Have to agree with him - definitely should have been a straight red card for the keeper on that one. Changed the course of the match, which was not a great one. By the way Fey, I also spoke to Harrison Afful - remember him! The goal-scorer was also a product of Feyenoord Fetteh.

Not at all. I haven't referred to chins at all. Hughes has nothing to do with this. Your opinions on African football are simply ignorant. The gap has plainly closed. Try watching Ethiopia and you will see a good attacking side, well organised with passionate and wonderful fans. What's not to like.

By the way just got the quote of the tournament from Vincent Enyeama. Due to meet Kalusha Bwalya tomorrow. For the benefit of Eurocenric fuckwits who don't know who he is, he was undoubtedly one of the greatest African players ever and is now the President of the Zambian FA who masterminded the development of the current crop of championship winners.

By the way looks like some players could learn how to keep penalties out and score them from Kennedy Mweene.

It is where the players go through on their way out and journalists can ask them questions to get quotes for their articles. The players don't have to stop and talk, but they have to go through there. Enyeama is one of the better ones for journalists. Kennedy Mweene is pretty good too.

So as a journalist you should know what Coloccini's mysterious problem is, right? Wink It's very strange, there's a media blackout, all these journalists saying they know what it is but they've agreed not to say. Maybe there's an injunction or some shit.

It's likely they do know but that the club doesn't want it made public and they know that if they say what it is the club and possibly others too will make it hard to get accredited or interviews and the like. Some pretty good stories get spiked like that.

So his inability to trap, control or keep possession of a football is down to lack of opportunities, poor coaching or not being treated well enough (perhaps he is not paid well enough?) at Arsenal?

Hardly a good thing for the ACN. Imagine if Luxemberg got to the 1/4's of the Euros it would be a joke (they have an identical pop to Cape Verde). Just shows how weak the ACN is.
