Fellaini and Baines are the only two really worthy. Even Baines isn't getting any younger though. Buttner and Fabio backing up Evra should be enough.

Can't imagine Fellaini in the United team - dont really think they need him either.

Baines is a certainty. Baines and Bale on the left will be magic.

Really? Fellaini often plays behind the striker now for Everton - United will almost certainly have RVP and probably Lewandowski with Hernandez, Welbeck, Valencia, Bale and Young all attacking options as well.

United could do with a classy ball playing midfielder, someone like Mata, I don't think a tall physical power house is particularly what they need.

Evra is coming to the end of his career so Baines is an ideal replacement.

Yeah he's playing there now but he can still play CM or DM. United, if they're looking to make progress in Europe, need more control of the midfield. Someone like Fellaini would be a big help in this regard. The midfield is the weakest area of their team.

They already have a great ball playing attacking midfielder in Kagawa. Fergie just never had the foggiest how to use him. Let's see if Moyes fares better. Kagawa is classy.

United need a DM (Fellaini) and someone who can control the tempo (Clasie-type player). Maybe Cleverly can step up but he didn't feature much in the second half of the season.

Ideally United need to line-up like this next season:

    De Gea
    Rafael Rio Vidic Evra
    DM--- DLP
    Valencia/Nani --- Kagawa--- Young/New signing?

Fellani isn't good enough to play CM at a top club. His best position is just off the striker.

Evra can probably do another couple of seasons though, so signing Baines would be a luxury at this point. would've thought they'd be better thinking long-term and going for someone like Shaw at Southampton. Baines is only 3 yrs or so younger than Evra.

Fellaini would offer something Utd don't currently have. Think he'd thrive there, esp if they continue to use wingers

I'm not sure; Evra has often been shit this season from what I've seen.

Baines is only 28. We all know players last 'til their 40 at United.

United currently have a great quality defensive mid in Carrick. You can say Kagawa is the classy ball player they need but we haven't seen that yet. Fellaini is a great midfielder, dirty as hell, but great. More suited to a team that likes to battle though rather than play attractive and dangerous counter attacking football.

To be honest, United should be looking to do better than both Carrick and Fellaini. The former has been very impressive this season though. If I was them, i'd get rid of Anderson and Fletcher (I know it's harsh because he's been unwell), maybe even Scholes too.

Kagawa is the shit - he's had some awesome games this season but hasn't been in the team enough to show his abilities. I expect him to improve next time out. Baines is definitely a luxury. United have more pressing needs.

Wasn't Fellaini just fouling people as a DM? Not sure the position suits him at the highest level, whereas he seems to have an eye for goal, and his general aggressive play might mean he takes over from Rooney.

Scholes is retiring again (properly) isn't he? Giggs has signed on for another year, but it kinda seems like they should both go with Ferguson.

But again, it's not really a priority position. Central midfield is where United really need to be focusin their efforts.

I am sure United have the resources to improve both positions, Moyes going to United only increases the likelihood of Baines joining them.

I agree. A top DM, a top CM/DLP and a decent young CB should be their priority at the mo. And if Rooney leaves, maybe a top winger/striker.

And to think they had Pogba!

I would suggest Paulinho/Fernando/Nainggolan, Modric and Ogbonna. And if they can afford it, then Bale for Rooney.

Agree apart from CBs. They have Jones and Smalling for CBs, neither are 22 yet and are both pretty good already. Evans is around 25 too. They are well covered there.

United would become serious CL threats if they had a DM and top CM/DLP. Pogba wanted to be a starter for United, and looking back, Fergie probably should've granted him his wish.

Fellaini and car rick would make two excellent pivots could do a job against the best teams in Europe.

Besides that they need better wide players than Valencia/nani/Ashley someone like di maria would do wonders, the real di maria and not the one we have seen this season.

Although I think Luis is right, in that Fellaini seems to have made his mark off the striker rather than midfield.. I think he's the one they'll try for hardest and they'll put him in at dm... Because it's the position the fans want sorting out and the one Fergie never would.

They do have Jones too now though.

I'm not sure Baines is a luxury. He's the best left back in the league and United have been successful down the years with advanced full backs who get forward and contribute.

United need to improve/have a midfield to be dominant in Europe next season but Fellaini isn't particularly conducive to the way they play IMO.
