Of course the source is rather vague. But it will not sit well with Super and Cristiano.

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
I can't believe that the club would think that we can replace Higuain with somebody like Morata and expect better results when our strikers were our biggest problem last season. It's insanity and I don't care what Spanish players they sign when we have a much more urgent need here. Either way I expect more of a Adebayor type signing at the moment. Somebody who won't grab attention or cost too much. I would gladly take a Demba Ba for example.Cristiano wrote:Jaime wrote:RM not signing any forwards according to this:

You know, mentioning Ba. I would not at all be surprised if Florentino had it in his head to try and sign Fernando Torres. He has always had a soft spot for El Niño and tried to sign him once when he was playing for Atletico. Obviously a lot of ups and downs for Torres since he left Liverpool. I don't imagine Jose will be too desperate to keep him. Especially if they are able to sign Rooney.
But I agree, it would be very risky to go through a whole season with only Benzema and Morata. But I think it is part of the strategy to try and get the best out of Benzema and kind of telling him "We have total faith in you, you are our man" type of thing. I am no psychologist so who knows if it works or not.

And this just off the wires..........Sevilla with their pockets full of Negredo money are offering 10m euro for Morata (and offering RM a buy back clause).
To me this either means they are for sure signing another striker or Higuain is staying.

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
Well, interesting to see Marca's headlines for today.
1) They are claiming that Florentino has said that he won't sell Higuain for less than 40m euro. I think that effectively closes the door on him leaving. Napoli were supposedly around 30m with their offer. Maybe they would go as high as 35m but no way will they offer 40m. And that certainly prices Arsenal out of the market as well.
2) Xabi Alonso may not be available until October! Of course he had surgery for the hernia he was suffering from most of last year which caused him to miss the Confed Cup. The prognosis originally was that he would be back for the start of the season but now it seems that the recovery is going slower than first expected. Perhaps that was behind the club pushing so hard to sign Illarra now.

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
Apparently Jorge Pulido has rescinded his contract with Atletico and signed for Castilla
Did pretty well a couple years ago on loan at Rayo. Not sure what the deal is with him. He's 22 now so his experience will probably be good for Derik and Llorente.
I will be very curious to see what shape RM Castilla takes for next season. A lot of players from the last few seasons have moved on (Nacho, Morata, Jese, Juanfran, Mateos, Cheryshev, Mosquera, Fabinho, Jota, Quini, Ivan Gonzalez and possibly Tomas Mejias as well).
Squad might look something like:
Goalkeepers: Fernando Pacheco, Andrés Prieto, Rubén Yáñez
Defenders: Jorge Casado, Derik, Diego Llorente, Jorge Pulido
Midfielders: Álex, Cristian Benavente, Borja García, Omar Mascarell, José Rodríguez
Forwards: Raúl De Tomás, Óscar Plano, Rubén Sobrino
Obviously there will be a few more to fill out the squad but that will probably be the core.

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
First friendly is tomorrow against Bournemouth. Will be interesting to at least see tactically how Ancelotti lines the team up.
Interesting to see the headlines on Marca. They are claiming that RM is negotiating for Siqueira from Granada. I actually really like this guy. He is fast as hell and I think he is about the same height as Coentrao. He's a very good footballer overall, excellent crossing and never misses from the penalty spot. I think he would be a good compliment to Marcelo and could even win the job himself.

Who needs to set up tactically against Bournemouth? Just stick all your attacking players on the pitch.

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
35M is great for Higuain although at the moment it does seem that the market is calibrating upwards for high end players while the likes of Tevez and Villa went for pretty cheap prices even by old standards. Either I'm glad we're resolving this because it has dragged on forever. The problem is still who to replace Higuain with.

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
Very Delbosque-ian XI from Ancelotti. Ozil starting out on the right but drifting into the middle of the pitch while Carvajal was bombing down the flank (think Zidane and Roberto Carlos in 2002-03). Meanwhile Isco played down the middle and showed some excellent vision with a few of his through passes. Obviously it's hard to take anything too seriously from a friendly like this (Ronaldo scored from a free kick ffs!!!!) but it was good to see the team really moving the ball. Thought Di Maria looked very inspired when he came on in the second half, maybe trying to prove that we don't need Bale (we don't!). Morata played a really nice through pass for Higuain which might end up being his last goal for us.
Also interesting to hear Ancelotti say after the match that there was no intention of signing any other players. I would guess this is somewhat conditional on players leaving. If Coentrao is sold, I would have thought we'd look into a left back (Siqueira being rumoured) although with Nacho, Arbeloa, and Cheryshev who gave a good accounting of himself maybe we really wouldn't buy anyone else. A long way until 31 Aug so it could just be posturing.
