I remember quite clearly who were on Team Mourinho and who were traitors(Ramos, Iker, Jaime, etc). You were much closer to the traitors.
Also I have to say I think you're completely wrong on this one. The current Ancelotti side is much more fluid(a negative in my world when it comes at the expense of defence) and open. This side is still in the making but I suspect we will get more of the "neutrals" to like us as the players get to understand Ancelotti. Puke!
With that said there are certainly positives in this game. Modric is more and more looking like our new leader in midfield(goodbye Illarramendi+Alonso) and Khedira didn't destroy our game too much which was a surprise to me.
Jese looks very fresh and has to get used to this level fast. This isn't U-21 anymore. Morata is already ready if less talented. Jese better work his ass off in the meantime.
Hardly noticed Ozil wasn't there to be honest. We need to test this some more but maybe we don't need him already. Isco is delivering the one area where I wanted him to which is goals but surprisingly he is quite good at passing. Also Di Maria is really up for it so I truly hope the Bale transfer gets botched.

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
You were right
The first match didn't give me confidence in him and I was starting to wonder if he was going to be a failure after a nice ending to last season. But today he showed himself as somebody who could lead even with a donkey like Khedira by his side. While Khedira was fine today we need to see one of Illarramendi, Alonso, Casemiro next to Modric to see how this will work out. At the moment though it looks like we can safely ease Alonso out of the club if he really wants to move.

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
Why was Benzema booed? Are those stupid fans trying to chase him out of the club or something.
Mesut Ozil omission not transfer-related
Carlo Ancelotti says he is not surprised Mesut Ozil is unhappy to be spending so much time on Real Madrid’s bench, but insisted dropping him for Sunday’s 3-1 La Liga win over Athletic Bilbao had nothing to do with reported interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.
Ozil was rumoured to be unsettled after being substituted early in both Madrid’s opening Primera Division games, while his father and agent was reportedly disappointed with Madrid's negative response to the suggestion of a pay-rise to bring the Germany international's annual salary closer to that of expected new team-mate Gareth Bale.
Even public comments by Ozil Jnr that he was very happy at the Bernabeu, and had no intention of leaving, did not kill speculation that a €50 million transfer to the Premier League could take place before this summer’s transfer window slams shut.
Asked by reporters at the Bernabeu after Sunday's victory, in which Ozil was an unused substitute, Ancelotti said he would expect any player to want to play every game, but there was nothing to his decision to choose Angel Di Maria for this particular game.
“It is normal that he [Ozil] is unhappy,” Ancelotti said. “I do not like players to be happy on the bench. It was a technical decision to put in Di Maria, who has a lot of rhythm and intensity, nothing more.”
With Gareth Bale’s €90 million plus move from Tottenham and Kaka’s potential return to Milan still both up in the air, Ancelotti accepted a suggestion that Monday could be a busy day in the Bernabeu’s offices.
“I do not know really what will happen tomorrow,” he said. “I cannot say today that the squad is this. It could be that anything changes, exits and arrivals.”
One player who will remain at Madrid is Fabio Coentrao, who is not moving to Spurs as part of the Bale deal, or going anywhere else, Ancelotti stated.
“Fabio Coentrao is staying,” he said. “He had said he wanted to leave, but I did not want that. Everyone -- the players, the coaches, the club, is very happy with this decision.”
Madrid won the game with two goals from Isco and a Cristiano Ronado header -- his first of the season and 202nd in 202 games for the club.
Reported Arsenal target Karim Benzema provided assists for both Isco’s goals, but was still whistled by some in the Bernabeu crowd, something Ancelotti said was unfair.
“Today something was very clear,” Ancelotti said. “Benzema was whistled a little, all the stadium applauded Di Maria. That shows the fans look a lot at the work being done. Benzema is in a different position, where you do not need to work as much. The sign today was that work is applauded.”
Ancelotti professed to be happy overall with the performance, which maintained Madrid’s 100% cent start to the new season.
“It was a good game,” he said. “We did not begin the game with much intensity, but from 20 minutes in we started to play with more rhythm. The first half was good, we played well. I believe the team is improving.”
But I'm happy they supported Di Maria.
We should give Ozil a new contract with clause that he gets paid extra for every assist in a knock out game in Cl.

Kaka to Milan seems very close. I know he has struggled at Real Madrid, but has he shown anything that may suggest that he can offset his diminishing pace by other qualities? I remember he was pretty decent a few months ago.

Re: Real Madrid CF 2013/14
I think Kaka really suffered because of Jose's insistence of playing 100 mph on the counter at every opportunity and as you say his pace has completely deserted him. He tried to run past defenders and it just didn't work. I think in this preseason with Ancelotti's emphasis on keeping the ball, Kaka showed that if he plays one and two touch passes and doesn't try to hold the ball too long that he can still be effective and he can still finish if he can find the time and space to really line up his shot but the club had already moved on and brought in Modric last year and Isco this year (plus Ozil). The one thing that was really infuriating, even under Jose, is that Kaka did not work for the team at all. He would lose the ball and then just shrug and trot back. Or complain to the official whilst the play continued in the other direction. I don't remember if he was different in Milan but it is a big problem that he has had since coming to Madrid at least. So I guess it depends on who will play around him in Milan and what he will be asked to do.Forza Italia!Forza Milan! wrote:Kaka to Milan seems very close. Transfer fee around €100m, six year contract, €10m annual wages.
You're out of your fucking mind.
The irony of this becoming official on the day it becomes more and more likely that Kaka is going to leave, arguably the biggest transfer flop in European football considering the transfer fee and wages you paid for him, the length of his stay and the performances on the pitch.

I'm no naysayer. I don't even care about Bale to be honest and wish him the best. It's just that Real Madrid are such an shitty run club of epic proportions.
Transfers aren't planned and made to strengthen the team foremost, but for advertising reasons and to make a 'statement'. It's the stereotype of the gaudi, flashy (latin) nouveau-riche prole who buys status symbols as a means of making himself known. It's basically the same thing as the Man City or PSG owners do on a regular basis, with the important difference that Real Madrid already have the status and history, as they do have a number of good players, but they still have the urge to join the penis sword fight. It lacks class, it's cheap and it's pitiful.

Nobody is disputing Bale's ability. He was great the way he delivered for Tottenham at the of last season but I don't see how he fits in with the players we have or the style Ancelotti wants to play. This looks like Beckham Part II.
Blut
Nobody is forcing the Spanish youth to see Real Madrid so I feel no obligation to not spend cash. I don't see how they are made better off if we buy nobody. I always thought that sort of argument was particularly poor. And Perez has always bet on the global market and I don't he will squeeze every dime out of Bale. I could care less about showing class and all the other nonsense.

I can't help but laugh at self righteous people who talk about high transfer fees as if they were the moral equivalent of some crime. For some reason some people think it is bad to use money in football on football players. Arsenal is a perfect example of the opposite of Real Madrid. Should they be praised for not spending money? Is it better the money stays in the football x instead of football y?

The Spanish youth is the future of Spain, not Real Madrid. If you can't see the crass constrast of a country being bailed out by Europe, with great parts of its population living in poverty, and obscene amounts of money paid for a football player to make a 'statement', you're beyond hope. It's the same Spanish banks Europe is bailing out that actually finance this ridiculous transfer.
I wonder if the Real fans on here would be saying the same if they actually lived in Spain.

In relation to transfer fee, I had previously read that it was intended to paid in instalments i.e. over 5 years. This would the big difference between this transfer and that of CR, where the club had to pay the entire fee in one instalment.
