Re: Serie A 2006-07 discussion thread
What do you make of this? I read on Today's La Gazzetta dello Sport site, that there are three potential candidates that could take place of Ancelotti if he gets the sack or retires!
1: Van Basten- no shock there!
2: Luciano Spalletti- who is doing well for the Roma team
3: Our world cup winning Coach, MARCELLO LIPPI, who announced a few days ago, he would like to return coaching next season!
What do you guys think of it! I like all three of them but wil they come, obviously Van Basten will probably be the one most likely to come!
Will Spalletti? He is refusing to resign his contract that ends next year i think!
Lippi, well for all we know he might want to go coach a team in mid table in Brazil! No knows what goes through his mind!
I like Ancellotti but the tactics havn't been working in recent weeks!

Re: Serie A 2006-07 discussion thread
I just found this to add to my post before:
Milan to line up Lippi Wednesday 8 November, 2006
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reports in Italy are speculating that Marcello Lippi will replace Carlo Ancelotti on the Milan bench next summer.
Ancelotti’s contract with the Via Turati club ends in 2008, but it is alleged that their five-season relationship will come to an end by mutual consent in June.
Lippi is one of the names on the list of possible successors to Ancelotti, who is supposedly looking for a national job ahead of the 2010 World Cup, after the former Juventus boss made it clear that he wants a return to football.
However, Lippi confirmed on Tuesday that he has not received any offers from Italian clubs after taking time off at the end of the World Cup triumph.
Lippi had already replaced Ancelotti in 2001-02 at Juventus, immediately winning the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup.
Lippi is not the only name on Milan’s shortlist, though, as Luciano Spalletti, Marco Van Basten and Mauro Tassotti have also been paired with the Rossoneri.
The Roma Coach has not yet extended his contract with the capital city outfit which ends in June 2007 and is highly considered by Milan.
If that option were to arise, Ancelotti may end up at Roma in a swap deal as the team holds a special place in the former Giallorossi midfielder’s heart.
Milan President Silvio Berlusconi would ideally like to see a former player return to the club, but Van Basten doesn’t seem ready to quit his Dutch national job.
Tassotti could also be an alternative after his spells as assistant to firstly Cesare Maldini and now Ancelotti.

Re: Serie A 2006-07 discussion thread
yea, we all know ancelotti needs to go, not just because of the penalty in points, but loses to palermo, atalanta, and that tie to sampdoria..theres just something wrong there.
i also didnt like his tactics in the milan derby, 3 subs right away at half time i dnt think was a good idea. he still is in champions league tho...
anyways the best of those coaches obviously lippi..no arugumet there, but van basten would be a nice homecoming, and we know what spalletti can do...any of those 3 can save milan's season

If vBasten comes which is unlikely I think yet Seedorf would probably not getting much action anymore.

Yes, that's true! I wouldn't mind any of them coming to Milan, they are all great coaches!
As for the tactics in the derby, i felt it was very negative of him to play one forward, and try to pack the midfield, everyone saw how it was at half time! Going for the two forwards did help, but he just deosn't seem to be getting it right this time!
You can see by the way they play in C.L, there is a graeater desire to win. I think half the players have given up on the league already, Ancellotti needs to find a way to instill faith and motivation into the team again!

True, but Seedorf is so inconsistent at this stage maybe he should take a break and let others play! Also wouldn't the older players be dropped, ie: Maldini, Costacurta, Cafu, as they are all old and he likes the young guns!

van Basten himself said he would like to coach Ajax after leaving the Dutch national team ... but i can see him changing his mind, especially if the hot seat at the San Siro is left open.

I can't imagine that Van Basten would play with the same amount of style as Ancelotti though.
I keep on saying it, but I think Ancelotti should have put his name forward for the national team job and Donadoni replaced him at Milan.
What's Fatih Terim upto? Maybe you could convince him to return or maybe even Sven

Deano play nice now!
When Donadoni was chosen i said to my dad, Ancelotti would have been the perfect choice but since he is tied to Milan he couldn't leave, and there was no one else but Donadoni to do the job!

Sampdoria's chances look very good today as Palermo as placed out a very weak reserve team. With Uefa Cup, and Scudetto in the line, Coppa Italia is last on their mind.
Not to take anything away from Sampdoria, but,i see them winning the first leg cuz of that.
hmm if Caraciollo or Brienza can sneak in one, i also see Palermo taking the first leg.
FORZA ROSANERO!!!

Just be honest mate...we are shit....I wont be offended as its what I think. But yeah was hoping you'd do that as the Coppa Italia looks like our last/only resort

I don't so see Tevez and Caraciolo swaping either, Tevez could go to Palermo but i doubt it will happen this season, but Caraciolo going to West Ham... to me i can't see it! I will be following the scores on the Gazzetta site while waiting for milan's commentary to come through! It will be good!
Novellino was about to get given the boot earlier on this season, if he escaped it then he could escape it now, unless Lippi wants to go there!

why not? In terms of size West Ham are bigger....and the EPL is a big draw to many players...however with Palermo likely to be in the CL Caraciollo wil stay with Palermo I guess...
I heard that Tevez is going to Barcelona....While West Ham will get Gudjohnsen when we are taken over by the Icelandic businessman

I was just wondering if Caraciollo will stay at Palermo, i have hardly seen him play in Serie A, so far this season, but granted we only have one channel that shows it here in SA so i can't really tell if he is playing or not unless he scores! If I was him i would move, wanting to get more playing time!

If caraciollo goes anywhere it will be in serie a i believe. But he definetly isnt getting the time he wants, or even close to the time he got last year.
Di Michele and Amauri are our two starting up front...most like brienza is next in line, so i think caraciollo will go to where he can find some playing time.

I am not a big fan of Ancellotti, I think Spaletti or Prandelli would have been a better choice for the azzurri than Donadoni or Ancellotti.
I think Lippi might go for the Milan job, but would silvio like to have a coach who puts tactics n pragmatism before style?? I think Van Basten would suit Milan's (ie berlusconi's) mindset much more...
But i do agree that it is perhaps time for Ancellotti to leave Milan - he seems to be running out of ideas... Tho I must give him credit for some great ideas during his Milan reign, redesigning Pirlo's role being his biggest masterstroke. But I guess Milan needs a fresh outlook now.

Also the plus with Van Basten is he knows the history and culture of milan, he knows how they are and he probably feels more for them than any other coach!
Ancellotti needs to redesign Pirlo again, hasn't been nearly as affective as he was in the World Cup, but then again different story, and he is probabaly more tired. Along with the likes of Nesta, Gila, Inzaghi, and Gattuso (who is hardly ever tired). There must be some turn arounds soon! I hate to see the team like this!
