He had a great couple of years with us, his own fault for leaving just when he'd become one of our most important players. The Bergkamp comparison was a bit odd though.

RIP the ginger tosser, his like will not be seen again Ale Rose

    lol!

Just think the old comments are funny on here sometimes. It's like the posters are completely different characters.

Carrick. Reo Coker. Oh dear Laugh

(To be fair, Carrick had just had a brilliant season for us in 2005/2006. Reo Coker - no excuses can cover that one)

I was having a fair old chuckle at that one but didn't want to say anything Smile

Carrick is fair enough, not your fault, but Xavi, Iniesta, Alonso, Fabregas, Scholes... Reo-Coker Laughing

He had a kid, which finally proved he wasn't gay, and then no one showed any interest in him anymore, so he left.

Some of TS's comments on this thread are hilarious. Hleb the new Bergkamp, when he wasn't even the new Kanu...

Deluded F*ck™ wrote:PEP GUARDIOLA: "Out of everyone at Manchester United, I would pick out Scholes - he is the best midfielder of his generation, I would have loved to have played alongside him."

XAVI: "In the last 15 to 20 years the best central midfielder that I have seen - the most complete - is Scholes. I have spoken with Xabi Alonso about this many times. Scholes is a spectacular player who has everything."

ZINEDINE ZIDANE: "It's only natural to want to select your best players and there is no doubt for me that Paul Scholes is still in a class of his own,"

"He's almost untouchable in what he does. I never tire of watching him play. You rarely come across the complete footballer, but Scholes is as close to it as you can get.

"One of my regrets is that the opportunity to play alongside him never presented itself during my career."

EDGAR DAVIDS: “I’m not the best, Paul Scholes is. We can all learn from Paul Scholes.”

MARCELLO LIPPI: “Paul Scholes would have been one of my first choices for putting together a great team — that is how highly I have always rated him.

“An all-round midfielder with quality and character in abundance.”

LAURENT BLANC: “I tell anyone who asks me — Scholes is the best English player.”

THIERRY HENRY: “Without any doubt the best player in the Premiership has to be Paul Scholes.

“He knows how to do everything, and he is the one who directs the way his team plays. On top of all that, he has indestructible mental strength, and he is a genuine competitor.”

PETER SCHMEICHEL: “His reading of the game is unsurpassed. He has the best eye for a pass, for what the play or the game needs at that precise moment, that I have never seen anyone else have.

“He controls and distributes the play and the game better than anyone I have ever seen.”
SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON: "Paul Scholes is quiet and doesn't cause a fuss. He is popular with fans but never really marketable - they even gave his man of the match award v Argentina to Nicky Butt.
Scholes hasn't got friends who write for tabloids so if I have to stick him or one of the vastly inferior Lampard or Gerrard wide midfield, it will be Scholes.
The obvious answer is Gerrard because he has pace and has played there before but I would always move Scholes there".

    The World's Greatest Asthmatic.

Infact, that is probably the one thing that stopped him from becoming a nailed on great (aside from being painfully shy): he could fade away in games because of it. I remember Euro2004 against Portugal, you could tell he was struggling, huffing and puffing, coming to side lines to use his inhaler, pulled off after 50 odd minutes.

Oh, and he couldn't tackle for shit.

But otherwise, a World Class player in the pantheon of World Class players just below the true greats.

A blow for Utd opponents as it's the end of a fairly good bet for Utd going down to 10 men Wink Him and his disbelieving smile as the ref flashes the red card will be missed.

? This is Paul Scholes. A great passer but a career entirely enhanced by the entrenched deliberate leniency of the referees...

Dirty ginger tosser used to go for ankles from behind in a cowardly fashion. As Shazl says, the refs & the british commentators shrug it off as 'same old Scholesy' was even more annoying.

Twice hand-balled into the net & the British mofos laughing over it. While going into PMS when a French frog does it to Irish. c**ts, all of them. Ale

That's not really hypocrisy though..he got punished and looked like a mong. The outrage with Henry was because he got away with it and it knocked an (albeit shit) team out of the competition..and he looks like a mong.
