Chelsea eye up Lennon !

Chelsea have made Tottenham and England winger Aaron Lennon their top target and could make a bid for him in the January transfer window - offering cash and Shaun Wright-Phillips in exchange. (Various)

Well if this is true, the i hope Lennon takes a good look at SWP and notices how his career has gone at Chelsea, in the interest of the player it would make more sense to stay at White hart lane where he is more or less guranteed first team football.

If this Rumour is remotely true, it shows why Chelsea is the most detested Team in the Prem. They don't need him, but will go heaven and earth to thwart the rivals in the future, in terms of the Transfer Market...

We won't sell though, unless its something very Outrageus, in terms of the Fee....20 Mills plus SWP might tempt us....

I think younger players are becoming increasingly wiser to Chelsea, for example Walcott instantly dismissed Chelsea's attempts to lure him.

From a purely bias point of view i dont like seeing bright young english talent turning up at Chelsea to sit on the bench.

Its the most ridiculous rumour I've seen!

Lennon hopefully has enough brains to realise that if the rumour is true, he should no way leave for Chelsea - he would just be another SWP.

They would sell if they were given the right amount of money, esp if they get SWP as part of the deal

I've The Times in front of me and the back page is dominated by this story.

To be fair if the offer was say £10m + SWP I can't see Spurs saying no. Fir play, SWP is an inferior player but then you get an extra £10m which could go towards another top class player

I know that, but its a lot of money and in the deal they are guaranteed a very good player + a lot of money.

I think it must be made up anyhow - Lennon is hardly a Chelsea style player, he'd just be another SWP if he went there as he doesn't have the physical attributes

Because for the majority of these cases, players lose focus, motivation and interest in their current club, which in a results driven business would not enthuse the manager.

Remember also that the hargreaves situation is yet to have any closure, all report suggest Manchester United will continue in their attempts to sign Hargreaves in January.

Fantastic player but completely not a Chelsea type player - Mourinho apparently has standards about physical strength that he likes in his players.

IMO Lennon should only ever play for clubs that allow creative freedom - something that is rigidly tied in at Chelsea unless you are Lampard.

I think Robben and Joe Cole are clearly better for starters.

We don't normally play with 2 wingers anymore either.

He has no experience in Europe and very little internationally...I dont think he would be very effective at all against decent defenders who know how to play against pace merchants.

He'd be a nice player to have in the squad, but like you said, we have 3 offensive players after Drogba-Shevchenko (Joe Cole, Arjen Robben, Soloman Kalou) and I personally couldn't see him getting in front of any of those.

Would be a bad move for him and a bad move for Chelsea, which is why I said I hope it's bullshit.
