Sorry, but there is no better time to bring this debate to head as its one that I've noticed on these boards.

I've seen Lennon ever since the days he came through at Leeds at 16, he grew up in Chapeltown which is down the road from where I live, so I have my own opinion,

but whats the general consensus on here?

Not whether Lennon is World Class, or overrated, or anything like that.

Simply, as footballers go, I just want to know what people think when they watch him play- is he really all just pace or is there more to his game? Who is he comparable to?

No. Obviously not. Don't be silly.

It takes a special kind of tunnel-vision to say that Charles "assist to the opposition" N'Zogwho is better than him.

Lennon is unfortunately turning out to be a good player. Ribery is better than him though.

He has much more than pace, he has shown some wonderful technique over the last 6 months. For example when he nutmegged Cole by the byline and then beat Carvalho then whipped a quality cross in. He can only develop even further, from what I have seen.

The only problem will be his goal output. He has only scored three league goals in his career that will have to improve. I canit see him turning into a 8-15 goal a season winger like Giggs or Pires but he can still contribute lots to a team.

In what? Goals? We're talking about someone who finished second in the assist league with Metz despite leaving halfway through the season.

Admittedly he is four years older. But French players are often late developpers, unlike the English who crash and burn at twenty five.

Did u see that cross after nutmegging cashley? he delivers something like that in every match he plays in.

The things about this board, any player with extreme pace is called a pace merchant, no matter what other qualities he has. A player with decent technique, vision, good movements, decent skills and good finishing ability is generally regarded here as a good player, but add electric pace to those qualities, he is called nothing but a pace merchant. True story!

    Lennon >>> SWP

I believe Lennon could go the same way as Joe Cole, in the fact he develops even further by going to Chelsea and becomes a stronger player with even better end product.

The best manager for Lennon would be SAF without a doubt he is head and shoulders above any other manager in the league that can bring fantastically talented youngster through to develop their full potential. I mean hes even made a player out of Fletcher this season !

Chelsea would be a mistake for Lennon, he needs games and Chelsea would not gurantee that, whereas SAF understands young players need games to be nutured.

SAF had one good crop 15 years ago Agooner. People still refer to that.

I still think that was more due to the youth scheme rather than Fergie (Becks and co joined United at about 10 years old, just before Fergie took over) so whether or not you put the credit down to the youth scheme or Fergie is down to opinion.

He still got the best out of them, but imo, West Ham Youth > Man Utd Youth and Wenger > Fergie with young talents.

    ok

plus buying two of the worlds best young talents for about 40 million and 'nurturing them' is hardly overly impressive

Lennon is getting better that is obvious. I hope he can keep growing at this rate England will have a class winger again...I like to see Jol giving him some time on the left I'm sure it was to test Ferreira. Giving Lennon the chance and experiance playing both sides is a good idea wingers have a habbit of fading out of a game this way he can at least be busy disturbing the keeping the back line on edge with his speed.

We have a better youth system than United.

Mcmanaman, Redknapp*, Fowler, Carragher, Owen, Gerrard > Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Beckham.

    True story.
