    So, we're at it again. Competing for a higher rank within the Uefa rankings. Think you'll do better than us this year?

    I get the impression the Dutch don't rate our league very much, not to say you guys in particular, I know Ricardo is a fan Wink

    Has a reputation of being defensive does it? I wouldn't exactly agree, the smaller clubs just don't open up against our bigger clubs.

    So what's the word boys?

    I rate the Dutch league pretty much on par with your league. I do think that in general our league is much more attacking and more open, your style of play has been more effective in Europe the last years.

    Only AZ has been succesfull with "Dutch" football.

    I don't know but would relegation teams in Portugal play attacking football?

    @Sparta

    No, I wouldn't say our relegation fighting teams play attacking/attractive football. At times I woudln't even say they play football, rather they go out not to lose.

    However, there are clubs in Portugal outside our 'big 3' that can play some nice and attractive football, trouble is you risk loosing points that way...so there's always the temptation to close up at times. They tend to do that against the big guys as it a moral bust if you can get points off them.

    My club for example can't get away with not playing attractive attacking football. They'll be booed at our own stadium within the first 5 minutes if they start passing back...

    @Axes

    Come one now. You've got to look at things differently. Sure neither of us has money, but we have potential. You know you're proud that Holland has 6 European Cups...won with what kinds of budgets? Our boys are full on class and talent, if we could keep them in our leagues we'd be leading the pack.

    Small yes, but far from a joke. We can still perform on the big stages.

    Just a question, after seeing the nationality post...how would you spell Portugal in Dutch?

    Are you sure there aren't any Porutugese playing in Holland right now?

    I know we have Van der Gaag at Maritimo. Can't think of any others right now...

    I cant think of any Portuegese player, but that figure only shows players from a country with more then 4 players of that nationality in our leaugue. Feyenoord had Bruno Basto but he left(thank god)

    I'm sure Ajax wouldn't mind getting a few of our Porutuguese boys. Sporting's squad is pretty full of young talent right now....but they aren't for sale!

    But in particulare, João Moutinho will be turning plenty of heads this year once again.

    We can't put hughe expectations on them since most of them have never even played the CL. Only Ricardo has previous experience on Europe's biggest stage.

    However, they're a good and solid group of guys. With some experienced players coming in. Paulo Bento actually made that a priority; getting guys with some CL matches under their belts to help out the squad.

    Should be interesting and failing to reach the knock out stages would be pretty dissapointing. Depends on the draw of course, but if we can make the knock-out, and who knows, make the quarters, I'd be happy with their performance...without lossing hope of doing even better of course.

    I'd like to see it, especially since Sporting has a great record against Dutch clubs.

    I just wish that for all the players we've produced we can do an "Ajax" and win a European Cup with our homegrown squad. That would be great...for now it's just a dream.

    Did you see my mention of Moutinho Rai?

    Yea, since Ronaldo no one has really showe as much potential. Carlos Martins is a great talent, but he has probelms, discipline, and just hasn't been consitent in his performances.

    Moutinho however has come into this team like Hugo Viana did before him. He simply walked in. Full stop.

    First came in against Feyenoord in the Uefa Cup in 2004-2005 and has been there ever since. Great little guy...hence the song: "He's the 28, he's tiny, João Moutinho, João Moutinho" Wink

    Nani is also a great looking footballer with loads of talent. Almost in the ROnaldo molde: a winger with an eye for goal. Nani has a better shot than Ronaldo did at this age however, and he doesn't seem to have the same areial strength.

    Djaló is just starting this year. A young striker that looks like he will take his first real chance at the senior level. Strong and with a good sence of where the net is, he looks to be our revelation this season. The fans will expect some good things form him this year. Should partner Liedson in attack for us.

    Now that Kuyt is gone, Feyenoord will need a new striker again. The rumours say that it will probably be Nevland from the local Fc.

    Or will it Be Leonardo again, who got kicked out of the team at NAC already?

    Or even Huntelaar?, when he decides he wants to go to a real footballclub.
