Yeah basically it says that Nunez had the idea of expanding the stadium and converting the area where Miniestadie is into a big business/leisure district. But his project was not accepted at all because of his style of commanding rather than negotiating.

Then it adds that now Laporta wants to do something similar (take down Ministadie and build a new 21st century "Blaugrana Palace"), and the article is much more positive about Laporta's idea of trying to build something that is more beneficial to the surrounding community like the City Hall and the University, and involving the real estate developers. And there's a cheeky line in there about not using a Florentino Perez style of "do as I say" leadership.

Native speakers can probably polish my translation if I got anything wrong.

Some people seem to think Eto'o had been playing poorly recently; I disagree, he's actually been playing well (setting up opportunities, link up, movement etc), but to be honest never really had many opportunities himself to score. He got a couple against Bayern though. He has a fantastic work ethic.

I also think Iniesta is coming into his own, and is looming over the shoulders of the other midfielders. Xavi is fantastic, but I already think Iniesta is on par (or close) and will overtake him. I'm still watiting for Rijkaard to play:

    --------Iniesta-----Xavi------
    ---------------Deco-----------

    The mind boggles.

Very mouth watering, but against tall teams like Werder we cant play a team of gnomes..

Valdes, Belletti, Marquez, Puyol, Gio, Motta, Xavi, Deco, Giuly, Etoo, Ronaldinho.

Interestingly van Bommel not even on the bench. Read mine and Axeslammer's posts in the Bayern Munich thread.

2 - 0 to Sevilla HT Doh Dominated possession but gave away 2 soft goals and still look rusty upfront. Second Sevilla goal by Kanoute especially soft, horrible defending. Marquez is having the evening off.......

Congrats to Sevilla we were total shit, never got into the game and they outplayed us. No need for player ratings, no one gets more than a 5.

It sucks not to win a trophy, now we won't be as motivated for the rest because the chance to win everything we take part in has gone. Hopefully Rijkaard is happy that we suffered, and the players get a wakeup call and we improve from here.

lol, bet you enjoyed that LSR. I only watched the last couple of minutes, but that meant alot to Sevilla. was a great pen by Meresca, and the run towrds the end by Marti wasn't it? was fantastico. They will take no end of confidence into the Levante game.

That was pretty poor Yikes Not sure if we went in thinking we can win without trying as the ITV commentator said, but certainly never went beyond second gear and looked disinterested in the last 20 minutes or so. Well, let's hope that'll be a big wake-up call for the season. Sevilla would do well if they continue to play like that.

    @LSR

Haha, I am sure the Cules will point ou that the television audience was probably bigger for their 3-0 in the Bernabao though! Can't wait to see how they respond against Celta, will be a very tough game.

Is anyone thinking that if they make a good start, Sevilla could be real title contenders this season?

Sevilla HAVE to make the top 4 this season. Its a pity they aint in the CL this season, id love to see Sevilla play in the CL. Thats the thing with the spanish league, the good thing is anyone can come 4th, and the bad thing is anyone can come 4th !

Yes it is, it shows both strength and depth amongst the mid table, but also shows a lack of top, top teams. As you say 4th is a priotiy, its wide open though. I think this season it might be a bit more cut and dry, because unlike other seasons there is a group of team (Villareal, Valencia, Atletico, Sevilla) below the big two, I would be very suprised if anyone breaks ahead of those four.

inlight of our lost in the eufa super cup yesterday, i think it is time for Ricky to come up with a suitable plan B. as i have been saying all summer. I mentioned it a couple of months a go the 4 3 3 can be stopped if a coach puts his brains to work. Everyone called the 4 3 3 the 'winning' formula and it really is. However Rijkaard better have something else on the side for Barcelona. because when a coach puts his brain to it he can come up with a way to stop us.(and they don't even have to put thier brain to it that much they can just watch the sevilla and chelsea games) now i'm not saying we are predictable far from it. but we can be stop

well that was a bit embarrassing...

I think last night showed that we are FAR from being really ready for the season and that the players lack fitness, we hardly managed to press the Sevilla players.

Rijkaard will have learnt a lesson too, as he just can't put on an endless amount of attacking palyers and hope to actually score. The last 30 mins was a complete tactical nightmare where the players simply failed to connect and were all over the place.

    van Bommel bound for Bayern

Not surprised really. It's a shame things didn't work out for him; had a fair start but was hampered by injuries and looked out of it when he came back. Bundesliga may suit him better.

Very surprising for me, i saw this happening but not until next season. well iwish him th best, how will take his spot in our midfield.

i wonder if this is why Tix was scouting out andersson the other day at porto.

how much will he move for.

i dont really care about barca with the game because they will bounce back but all focus should be on sevilla as they showed what great football they play while still being very good tactical.
i really hope they get cl because they will then get a chance to show what they have already shown in spain.but then again we have seen it before that a side goes on a high and then makes major dissapointment.
