FC Barcelona: Anderson & Lucho González Tracked
Txiki Begiristain, owner of a rather unmistakeable profile, was recently spotted in Portugal following two of the hottest midfielders in the FC Porto that Fábio Capello already tipped for great things this year.
FC Barcelona last went shopping in Porto in 2004 when they successfully snapped up Brazilian-born Anderson de Souza – a.k.a. Deco – in a deal that included Ricardo Quaresma. The number 20 was fresh from scoring the second goal in the Dragões’ CL Final win over Monaco.
The watched duo hails from South America –Argentine dynamo Luis ‘Lucho’ González and Brazilian playmaker Anderson. Although admitting that he was, indeed, tracking the pair, the Barça football director denied that they were in the Catalan club’s immediate plans for the future.
“There’s been no formal move made by Barça. I’ve just been watching some of the players that we’ve been keeping an eye on to see their game first hand”, he stressed before commenting on the performance of the current team against Levski.
“They played like they did in Osasuna, keeping up a good rhythm and recovering any lost balls as rapidly as possible. As you could see, Thuram is also a highly disciplined player who’s winning everybody over through his work on the pitch.”
