Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
Barsa fans, since the game at San Siro last year I've been clamouring for the presence of Inhiesta in the starting eleven. He is playing fast, nasty and practical. He passes, tackles, makes runs and gets into the box. He scores. Deco is not awake yet, so FR, forget that PCness, give us Andrés Inhiesta! Sign here if you agree.

Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
I can only half sign here. Iniesta has been tremendous no doubt, but I don't think he should be a permanent in the starting 11. What I do agree is that his emergence has now made the midfield easily "rotatable", a la Messi/Giuly or Sylvinho/Gio.

Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
media punta plays beind from where a striker is. Cassano would be mediapunta for example.
Iniesta and Giuly should start. Enough with the lie of Xavi and Messi. The ones who are better should play is that simple. And both have been doing it better since the season started. Also Messi should start getting benched before the ego of this brat gets any bigger. It would do good to him IMO

I guess mediapunta is either a creative forward, or just a second striker then...

Great finish for the second goal and a good cross for the first.
Very, but I always backed him. Hopefully he's convinced some others that he can play as a solo striker. He was brilliant in coming deep, holding up the ball with his back to goal, laying it off, then making the run. He also made lots of lateral runs around the box, and moved to the left or right when needed to provide support to the play. And a great finish as you said.
Aye, he's class. Well wanted to sign him when he came available but understand why he choose you.
Watching him live you realise, just how good and clever he is.

Quoi?
Was that a retort because if it was it was one of the worst I've ever seen!
Are you calling Cesc a plonker? If so your accusations could not be further misplaced

To put in my tuppenceworth, a great match and a very encouraging performance last night. Great goals from the 'cover' forwards - Gudjohnsen is looking better with each match he plays. For me the best things was that we had width and stretched Bilbao to the max throughout the match.

indeed, we can be pleased with Gudjohnsen, who may turn out to be better than Larsson, who in the beginning didn't find the net easily at all.

this just in!
in addition to the celebration of the nou camp's 50th birthday the upcoming year, barcelona are planning to extend the capacity of the seats up to 15.000!
this will make the nou camp one of the biggest stadiums in the world in all sports.

And a very stupid idea too....
I can't believe we want to expand it when most matches don't fill the current stadium.. idiotic prestige project.

Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
Deco def. needs to be rested for a game or two, and give Iniesta the deserved starting place. No wonder why we are playing bad, with Deco and Ronaldinho out of form, and we are still managing to be on the top. Puyol needs to be partnered with Thuram in the center and Marquez as a DM. Messi also, just to chill out a little bit. According to this the line - up would be something like this:
Valdes
Zambrotta - Puyol - Thuram - doesnt matter
Marquez
Iniesta Xavi
Saviola Ronaldinho
Guddy

I don't understand why Laporta is so obsessed with expanding the stadium. It's the last thing the stadium needs, a general "facelift" would be much more useful than an expansion.
@Tweeds
We won't be needing Cesc anytime soon, we have Iniesta for quite a while.

Will be a quiet few days with the int'l break, I absolutely hate it although tbh it's probably best for the squad.
Supposedly this is our best start to the season under Rijkaard, we've bettered last year's start by 5 points!

Following Jaime's suggestion to go back to out own thread and discuss Saviola v Gudjohnsen..
Do we all agree that Gudjohnsen should start as much as possible as he will be staying with us for longer??

Re: FC Barcelona Thread 2006/2007
I am a bit surprised really.. I am not saying that we should leave Saviola out of the squad, but I think that Gudjohnsen, being a man for the future, should get priority, whereas Saviola will be out of the door as soon as his contract is up.
I regret that the Saviola thing ended like this, I think that his agent is basically pissing all over us and him, but having said that I don't see the point of our other players getting used to his style if he is leaving.
It is a shame, since he is apparently the best finisher in the squad, and we have been lacking some clinical finishing.
@messiah
So do you think Guddy is a waste of money since he doesn't fit in?

Naahhh.. just the usual rumours after a long term injury.. a week ago it was Pizarro.. Don't think we will bringing anybody in unless we get another long term striker injury.. (remember we still have 2 plus another on loan)

so you want to drop either Ronaldinho or Messi/Guily?? .. Then we would have no width at ALL!!
Remember that we have Sevilla at home, Chelsea away, Real Madrid away and Chelsea at home coming up.. not really a time to experiment..
