Im not underestimating Scotland, Im just aware that Italy at home are simply formidable. The most miserly team defensively Ive ever seen, breaking down an italian defence is an art form very few teams are capable of. they are also extremely clever at pushing the limits of sportsmanship:

I expect a 1-0 with an italian counter

You do know that we drew at home 1-1 with Lithuania don't you? In the qualifier and lost 2-0 at home to Croatia in a friendly?

I can see what you are saying...but to say it will be easy is 100% wrong IMO...

Who the hell writes the football italia articles now?

"Nonetheless, it is expected that Donadoni will start against Scotland with this line-up: Buffon; Oddo, Cannavaro, Materazzi, Zambrotta; Gattuso, De Rossi; Camoranesi, Perrotta, Di Natale; Totti."

No Pirlo? no Del Piero? Totti upfront? is this guy on crack?

I'd go with Toni supported by Del Piero and Rocchi.

That would be the best trio IMO.

Although I do like Di Natale, Del Piero lurking behind Toni has something special about it.

ok That's what I'd go with....and then bring on The Quag later Smile

I reckon Quag will play at least 25 minutes...well I hope so.

If it's 0-0 at half-time, Donadoni will sub 2 strikers by the end of the game.

The article isn't as silly as you think.

The general agreements in the Italian medias is that Pirlo will not start, nor Del Piero, instead Donadoni is planning some new tactic, they say with Di Natale providing the main support, with help from midfield, a more 'Roma' style tactic, except of course Donadoni is no Spalletti! , . As for Totti, well somebody probably spelt the Toni wrong!

As for Donadoni, the pressure from the medias has been unbearable, he is unable to cope with the pressure, it's not the first time he has lost his temper in public conferences before either, the players though have issued their token show of support. The real affirmation comes on the pitch tonight.

As for Channel 4's reliability, generally they get the news about one or two hours after Italy, allowing for translation time and verifications obviously, the articles are condensed and abridged, and they seem to leave out all the best bits like interviews instead they go for the more 'gossip' articles from Calciomercato and that Turin rag 'Tuttosport' Wink

    Quagliarella-Gilardino, ballottaggio in panca

    ITALIA (4-2-3-1): 1 Buffon; 22 Oddo, 5 Cannavaro, 23 Materazzi, 19 Zambrotta; 8 Gattuso, 10 De Rossi; 16 DONKEY, 20 Perrotta, 11 Di Natale; 9 Toni (22 Abbiati, 6 Barzagli, 3 Tonetto, 24 Mauri, 21 Pirlo, 7 Del Piero, 18 Gilardino).

    SCOZIA (4-1-4-1): 1 Gordon; 2 Alexander, 4 Weir, 5 Pressley, 3 Naysmith; 6 Dailly; 7 Brown, 8 Ferguson, 10 Hartley, 11 Mcculloch; 9 Miller (12 McGregor, 13 McManus. 14 Murty, 15 Severin, 16 Beattie, 17 Teale, 18 Boyd).

I don't know what the Italians are worried about, we could easily have lost to Georgia on Sat. I will be amazed if Italy don't win, also we are very bad at playing 2 games in a week, our players always get a bit tired because they spend so much time running around like headless chickens.
