Do we care? We have the Alps, our highest mountain is about 3,000 metres above sea level, Southern Germans are basically mountain people.

    No excuses!

You mean the defensive partnership that made Trinidad & Tobago look threatening, and almost cocked up against Ecuador? We will see.

They are excellent defenders, but if you mention Merte's and Metze's mistakes in the WC against Costa Rica (the game that made us overthink our defensive strategy, and made the Merte - Metze defensive partnership one of the most solid there is afterwards), you can't forget theirs.

Nah, they had it all under control really. Never a worry.

Incidentally, a Metzelder--Woodgate partnership for Real would be interesting were it to occur next season. Would work well I reckon, so long as Metzelder was willing to listen and learn from his better half Laughing

Ditto Woody's CL experience Wink (did Dortmund qualify for CL I cant remember?)

Both those partnerships have their qualities, either/or for me (its popular to choose the Woody/King partnership at the mo, but its just fanatasy as no one has ever seen them play together anyway)

    One thing though:

Terry >>>>>>>>>> all when it comes to organisation

He isnt as naturally gifted a footballer as the other 3, but when it comes to leadership, organisation and positioning he's untouchable. One only has to look at how shit the Chelsea defence has been in his absence (even when Cech returned).

Regarding Merte-Metze, of course Im just pulling your leg for effect, but I dont beleive they are better than England's main 4. Then again, Germany's midfield and attack are a better unit and means the defence has less to do, so its all apples and pears me old china

You realise that we played our B-team (or rather C) in a test match, right? 6 players with their first match ever for die Mannschaft, not a single first XI player on the pitch.

Löw used this match for testing, the result was not important.

According to the article, Real Madrid still have the better chance to sign him. However, Capello wants him, and we know that Capello will be history very soon, so who knows? Madrid offer him a three year contract, so does Tottenham, but with an option of another year.

The original source is the Daily Mail though, not sure if it's reliable. According to them, he'll earn 30,000 pounds a week in Tottenham, should he sign.

Tottenham would be better for him seriously. A team where the team comes first, Martin Jol is a very good manager at breeding players who can express themselves, not play with reservation which is what Capello is doing at Madrid.

depends on who will take over a Madrid, but its such a volatile unbalanced side.

Hope to see him playing in spurs colours next season - Dawson, King and Metzelder is an excellent triumvirate to have. Id expect Metze-King to start with Dawson being used when needed (as he is still pretty young and probably been overplayed anyway this season despite being excellent)

Wenger doesnt tend to go for German players. Probably the same reason he doesnt go for English players, - he's racist Wink

Besides, Spurs are a very decent side to play for at the moment with a good future and far more of an identity than Wenger's foreign French legion will ever have at their bland new stadium.

Metze- better off at Spurs. Robinho should've come too, the arrogant git ; instead of slagging off the team as being too small. Rot on the Madrid bench then you little shit, and watch as Berbatov/Lennon/Keane/Hudds become global stars playing for such a "small team"

Tottenham might be a better choice than Madrid under Capello, however there is a good chance that Schuster will be the next Madrid manager. This should make it much easier for Metzelder to integrate, as he can't speak Spanish AFAIK. He can speak English well though, he's one of the smartest players in the game.

Madrid have the bigger name, and CL (European) football is an important factor for German players going abroad. But more important than anything is that he doesn't rot on the bench. He won't at Madrid, don't think in Tottenham either. But at Arsenal, there is good chance that Wenger will bench him, not necessarily because he isn't good enough. Besides, Wenger is not interested in players that have pubic hair anyway.

German players have an excellent record at Madrid (Schuster, Netzer, Breitner, Stielike etc.), but the same can be said about Tottenham (Klinsmann), that's why I'd be happy with either of them.
