Bayern vs Milan: the Sequel Empty Bayern vs Milan: the Sequel

    Post by Ä Fri Apr 06, 2007 12:15 pm

now we know what they say about sequels

they are never as good as the original, right ?

well, this one at the Allianz Arena has CLASSIC written all over it

    1. it's another German-Italian battle: the most explosive international football combo worldwide; of all the QFs this one generated the highest number of goals

    2. a CL Semi is at stake and a resolution has to be found on the night

    3. both Bayern and Milan might have to win the CL to qualify for it next year

    4. both teams are smelling blood big time: big names like Real, Barca, Inter, Chelsea, ManU have all been eliminated already, allowing for a clear passage to the final

    --------------------------

    so what's the deal ?

who's going to win this mouthwatering battle of the fading giants ?

well, Milan have lost Gilardino; Bayern will get van Bommel and Kahn back

Milan blew their homeadvantage; Bayern will get pushed on by over 60.000 fantatical German beer guzzlers

Milan lost TWO points in the first leg; Bayern WON one and scored TWO away goals

Milan know the historic curse Bayern seemed to suffer against them has been broken; Munich now realize that those ageing Italian legs are human after all

football is a MAN's game, and Munich is a MAN's town; think about it: Milan is all about the January SALES (which only excites WOMEN and C.Ronaldo), Bayern is about BEER and HEAVING BOSOMS; advantage Munich

and finally, why did Bruno the Bear leave Italy and travel to Bavaria ???

    -----------------

meanwhile, it seems that the Milan players are getting arrogant Shocked

Nesta: " Bayern don't have any brilliant players; at least, they are not better than us"

Oddo: " in order to win in Munich, all we have to do is play like in Milan. they were merely lucky, their goals were complete flukes" Shocked

Maldini though thinks it's now 50-50

    @ dear Milanese

you missed your big chance at home; why oh why did you not use female stadium announcers with their throaty voices ????

the Muenchener are more clever; they will NOT use ballboys, but BALLGIRLS with those gigantic Bavarian racks

Oddo will say: " we may have lost 3:0; but we were not really any worse at all; at times though we were rather distracted; there were too many balls in the game; we are all Italian hunks and had our hands too full to play with our feet let alone brains. at least our Tifosi did not destroy the stadium; they were too busy whistling at the bejugged waitresses."

    @ Italians

enjoy those 90 minutes of German powerfootball next week

it might take you a while to compete in the CL again <Ale>

Milan will nick it IMO, esp if Bayern play like they did in the first leg.

Milan are pretty solid at the back, Dida needs to axed and bring in a keeper that can catch the ball.

Dida was not very good, but frankly, both goals was the fault of the DEFENSE

blame the first one on Nesta and the second on Ambrosini

the first one was kind of flucky with the ball bouncing off oddos back. the second was a defensive mistake by ambrosini. bayerns chance as i see is that milan will be tired because they have had important games against roma, bayern, empoli and bayern again. and when you consider that they are an old team it might really affect them so im not sure they can make a good performance.

    ok

I actually think we'll win comfortably.

The German team is rather inferior to us, and that's sad because we have been pathetic this year.

You have to blame the defence, but it was Nesta's second game back after two months.

Losing Sagnol is a big blow to Munich. Inzaghi loves scoring against them.

    2-0 Milan.

Milan really have to understand that FRESH legs have to be brought in this summer

they are fine in the first 60 minutes, but anything beyond at and they wilt away

if Bayern are clever , they'll barricade their own half with an agressive pressing game and then threaten themselves in the last 30 minutes

the Milan players are getting cocky in the press

the Bayern players prefer to keep a low profile and praise AC

it's now possible that Bayern will be without Schweini , who has a knee problem

what do you think the Munich midfield will look like ?

and who's going to win this tie ?

    Bayern duo doubtful
Bayern Munich midfielders Bastian Schweinsteiger and Martin Demichelis are doubtful for their Champions League quarter-final, second leg against AC Milan on Wednesday.

Schweinsteiger hurt a knee in Saturday's German league action and Demichelis has a hamstring pull. Both scored in the 2-1 victory at Hanover.

"His (Schweinsteiger's) absence will be a big blow but we are still hoping he will be able to play," said Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld. Hitzfeld was less optimistic about Demichelis however saying: "He is very doubtful."

Bayern had hoped Argentinian Demichelis would step up to the plate in place of Frenchman Willy Sagnol, who is out for the rest of the season after right knee surgery.

In Demichelis's absence, Bosnia's Hasan Salihamidzic could pull back into defence allowing a midfield spot for Andreas Ottl.

Hitzfeld also confirmed veteran Mehmet Scholl, who has a calf injury, will not be in the squad for Wednesday's match though he is retiring in the summer and only makes rare, substitute appearances.

Bayern and AC Milan are level at 2-2 after the first leg in Italy.

Losing Schweinsteiger would be a big loss. Despite his rather bad form in the last few weeks, he is a very important player for them, and he was improving lately, winning the match against Hannover for them.

I expect him to play though.

Milan are without Gilardino and Ronaldo

you have to wonder who will score for them

if Bayern manage to contain Kaka, they should have no problem

I am just slightly suprised by the hushed tones of the Bayern players

Schweini, van Bommel and Co show a lot of respect

either these are psychological games, or they are slightly nervous after a VERY poor first half performance in this weekend's Bundesliga game

    Milan has a secret weapon:

Inzaghi will take to the field with a small but powerful transmitter hidden in his hair.

At appropriate times in the match the Bayern goalkeeper will hear a deep throaty Italian voice of female origin rasping at him to return to the dressing room immidiately.

Unable to resist, and like the Pied Piper the Bayern team leaves the pitch lured by that Siren like temptation.

In the chaos that ensues, Pippo taps in from two yards, Milan claim the victory <Ale>

Bayern are left in the dressing room being serenaded by those old black and white sultry Italian movies with those timeless ladies Wink

Relax otto I won't even put it in my signature when you're proved to be wrong.

The point is, you're making a very bold prediction. If this turns out to be another David v Goliath match that you have so openly implied it will be, let's hope from a British perspective that it's a deja vu.

Right now we have as much chance of going through as Bayern. If we score, Valencia must win the game imo. When you consider we've only failed to score in 2 matches (and one of those was a match where not scoring didn't matter), the odds of us actually scoring in the Mestalla are pretty high. We're capable of then shutting up shop like Valencia did in to us in the previous fixture.

As for United, their defence is good enough (even without Neville and Vidic) to hold out for a 1-0 win.

Bayern got an AWAY point and TWO AWAY GOALS

Chelsea ONLY got a point a home and conceded a Valencia AWAY goal

meanwhile, Chelsea HAVE to score when Inter failed to do so at Valencia

whilst, Milan HAVE to score 2 at least or win away

the odds on Bayern going trough are considerably higher

still, I agree that Valancia will have to score two
