And the thing is, if Valencia sit back and play for the 0-0 (it appears that this is what they did against Inter), guys like Ballack, Lampard, Sheva, Drogba will shoot from distance. All are capable of producing a goal out of nothing. If Valencia come forward and attack, they run the risk of being counter attacked to death (like we did to Barca in 04-05 and to Man Utd in the Prem last season, although both were at home admittedly)

Re: Bayern vs Milan: the Sequel
We have the same chance because we are both level. Porto came to the Bridge after a 1-1 home draw and almost knocked us out and after all, Roma won in Lyon, so it proves this "home advantage" is very overrated. After all, if Milan score 1st in the Allianz, they become favourites for the tie. If we score first in the Mestalla, it means Valencia must come from behind and win the game, like we had to do against Porto.
And the thing is, if Valencia sit back and play for the 0-0 (it appears that this is what they did against Inter), guys like Ballack, Lampard, Sheva, Drogba will shoot from distance. All are capable of producing a goal out of nothing. Otto der Schweinehund wrote:now we know what they say about sequels
they are never as good as the original, right ?
well, this one at the Allianz Arena has CLASSIC written all over it
1. it's another German-Italian battle: the most explosive international football combo worldwide; of all the QFs this one generated the highest number of goals
2. a CL Semi is at stake and a resolution has to be found on the night
3. both Bayern and Milan might have to win the CL to qualify for it next year
4. both teams are smelling blood big time: big names like Real, Barca, Inter, Chelsea, ManU have all been eliminated already, allowing for a clear passage to the final
--------------------------
so what's the deal ?
who's going to win this mouthwatering battle of the fading giants ?
well, Milan have lost Gilardino; Bayern will get van Bommel and Kahn back
Milan blew their homeadvantage; Bayern will get pushed on by over 60.000 fantatical German beer guzzlers
Milan lost TWO points in the first leg; Bayern WON one and scored TWO away goals
Milan know the historic curse Bayern seemed to suffer against them has been broken; Munich now realize that those ageing Italian legs are human after all
football is a MAN's game, and Munich is a MAN's town; think about it: Milan is all about the January SALES (which only excites WOMEN and C.Ronaldo), Bayern is about BEER and HEAVING BOSOMS; advantage Munich
and finally, why did Bruno the Bear leave Italy and travel to Bavaria ???
-----------------
meanwhile, it seems that the Milan players are getting arrogant
Nesta: " Bayern don't have any brilliant players; at least, they are not better than us"
Oddo: " in order to win in Munich, all we have to do is play like in Milan. they were merely lucky, their goals were complete flukes"
Maldini though thinks it's now 50-50
@ dear Milanese
you missed your big chance at home; why oh why did you not use female stadium announcers with their throaty voices ????
the Muenchener are more clever; they will NOT use ballboys, but BALLGIRLS with those gigantic Bavarian racks
Oddo will say: " we may have lost 3:0; but we were not really any worse at all; at times though we were rather distracted; there were too many balls in the game; we are all Italian hunks and had our hands too full to play with our feet let alone brains. at least our Tifosi did not destroy the stadium; they were too busy whistling at the bejugged waitresses."
@ Italians
enjoy those 90 minutes of German powerfootball next week
it might take you a while to compete in the CL again
Otto back to his brilliant best. Enjoyed reading this one a lot.
Dubious pen to Milan kept the Rossineri in it, dunno why they are so confident

@bernd
the Bayern Assistant Manager essentially says that Munich are favourites to go through at 52:48
he clearly does not want to piss off Milan
he also says that Rooney is vastly overrated, England are no longer in the top 20 and that Rehagel would be a good replacement for McLaren
ah, and I think he has a crush on your sister ; he said her hair was unusually shiny but that he liked her clean fingernails

Im expecting Munchenhausen to go through, unless that famous Germanic efficiency fails spectacularly like it did on a warm September evening in 2001.
What do you think of Cambridge winning the boat race? I presume it was all down to the Teutonic muscle? If you've already created a thread regarding German Brilliance in the Thames then my apologies, I've been away for last couple of days.
Thanks for translating for me. Should you ever come across an article in Hungarian, possibly relating to the Water Polo thrashing of Germany then Im your man.

sure: we rejoiced!
But seriously- Lothar wasnt a bad coach but he wasnt brilliant either. Hungary often flirt with qualification then end up dissapointing.
The under 17s tho are the most talented crop in years, whather Lothar had any hand in that is anyones guess.
Maybe when you start up up the baot thread you also start up a thread in homage to the death of agent 00Zero

According to Skysports they are without Sagnol (for the rest of the season), Hargreaves, Lucio and Salihamidzic are all struggling with injuries, and Schweinsteiger is very doubtful for the match.

I can see those Claudia Cardinale pictures on the horizon!
Instead of taking Milan banners out for the pre-match rituals, UEFA will sanction a huge flag of Claudia to fly on the pitch.
We have our stadium announcers in place, only the raspiest Italian voices will do

Portrait of Milan (in German)
http://www.sport1.de/de/sport/artikel_1060791.html
Pippo , the Egomaniac
former Danish teammate, Tomasson: " It is impossible to play alongside Inzaghi, he does everything by himself, NEVER passes the ball. he is one of the biggest egomaniacs in world football"
he is also the ONLY Milanese I fear tonight
--------------------
@Italians
how will Ancelotti approach the game
will he play ultradefensively and then try to have Insaghi steal a goal in the 85th minutes ??
I hope it will be an open match
-----------------
@rez
I wonder whether it has occured to you that Rooney only scored after even Carrick and Smith had found the net

Understatement of the year. Did you also know there are also a lot of Africans in Africa?
Lets see if Munich can dish out a similar thrashing

To be fair Rooney wasnt all that last night. Anyway Otto its nice to see you've taking it well, Pierre didnt take it so well.
So are you confident about the game, I hear Bayern have a few injuries.
I think Milan will win, as Inzaghi always scores in these kind of games.

With this Milan, you can expect a open game... they do not have the defensive astuteness of the traditional Italian teams, so I doubt that Ancellotti will try to park the bus - it will be suicidal if he does.
I think Milan will look upto Kaka and Pirlo to create some chances for Inzaghi. I hope Milan turn out with a 5 man midfield and Inzaghi along upfront. What I would like to see:
---Gattuso - Pirlo - Ambrosini ---
---------Kaka ------ Seedorf
-------------Inzaghi
After 60 minutes, get in Serginho for Ambrosini if Milan are still looking for a goal.
But the first half, Milan can do worse than keep the ball in the midfield. No need to attack too much or defend too much - just turn it into a midfield battle and try and dictate the pace (ie slow it down a bit). If need be, attack in the last 30 minutes.
actually, thats what Roma should have done yesterday.
