He was being severely ripped off before this deal I believe I've been told before.

Unfortunately longterm deals mean nothing in today's football.. if he wants out he will force he is way out.. But of course it shouldn't happen this summer, but who knows about the next..

As long as we keep being successful I can't see him leaving for a few years..........
Sir Alex Ferguson said: “It is fantastic news, it emphasises the point that Cristiano is happy here and that he is at the right club. He has a great relationship with the team, staff and the fans and he will go on to be one of Manchester United’s great players.”
Cristiano said: “I am delighted. I spoke with Sir Alex and David Gill about my future and everyone knew that I wanted to stay. I am very happy at the club and I want to win trophies and hopefully we will do that this season.

You think he would have left had you been trailing Chelsea and been knocked out of the CL?

Hard to say. Like most top players he wants to be competiting for throphies and honours I'd guess.
If we went out at the quarter final stage of the CL and was trailing Chelsea by 10 points like the last two seasons, it may of been hard to convince him to stay.
I think whether we win trophies or not this season, we've proved that we are a top club again and can provide success not only for Ronaldo but for other players as well.

Its easier to convince non english players to stay when your top of the league, in a fa cup and CL semi final, than if your out of all 3.
The same with Barca, players like Ronaldinho would think about leaving if you had not won the league in 4 years and didnt look like you were going to for a while.

He's not in his prime.
If he scores more than 20 goals and has more than 15 assists (by April) for the next 4 years, then he will be the best player since Ronaldo (Brazilian one)

Your Mancs are just making sure they get maximum profits. Mourinho will go to Real Madrid, and Cristiano will follow him there.
La Liga is still the one, and if these two go there, then we have Sevilla getting better, Valencia improving, Atletico showing signs of returning, Deportivo as well, Zaragoza wanting to play a significant role at the top, Betis with Fernandez will be tougher, Villarreal will come back, Barcelona will reload...Still the one brother!
