When it comes to the point when the club wants to extend the contracts, are they going to have to offer more money as that is what usually happens. £120k is an obsene amount and is only reserved for a few players, but surely they cannot increase it even further. Only Chelsea could do that.

Hard to say. By that time the best players in the world could all be earning £200k a week. silent

On the season that Ronaldo carried the team...

I think that says enough about their difference in quality, not to mention that Ronaldo's progression has been an upward curve, unlike Rooney's.

I think even Rooney would agree that Ronaldo deserves more money.

I won't even comment on Fletcher.

    Laughing Thats really unfair.

Our team compared to last year is far better. We don't only have one class left back this season, we have two. Vidic has been immense at centre back. Scholes is like he was in his prime as well.

I don't doubt Ronaldo is a better player right now and will be in the future, I just think both should be earning the same at this present moment. If we come to renew contracts in a few years time for both players and Ronaldo is still outperforming Rooney then give him a bigger contract.

Ronaldo would resent that. He has a need of affirming himself above others, it's what drives him and would push him to seek fortunes abroad. It's not the extra money, it's being seen above others. Rooney I don't think has the same narcisism.

Agree with that and in a recent interview Rooney was happy to say Ronaldo is right now the best player in the World.

I sometimes think that will hold Rooney back, he seems to down to earth and doesn't have that really arrogant streak most top top players have.

£110k a week is a ridiculous amount of money for a 22 year old, when you actually think about it. He earns more in a day than most people earn in a year!!!!
god,its unfair and not in line with the will of the the god.

Thats a very good point, Rooney isnt as arrogant/confident as Ronaldo. Rooney is more of a team player and although this side has improved in Ronaldo's game, there goal celebrations show the difference in the players. Ronaldo always runs of on his own when he scores, even if someone has layed it on a plate for him (I hate that when players do that) and Rooney always celebrates with the team and runs to the player who set him up.

I remember when Ronaldo was doing an interview a few years ago, when Rooney was out performing Ronaldo, and he got asked about Rooney and he didnt really praise him, in case it made Rooney sound like he was better than him, which he was at the time. Rooney wouldnt do that and is humble enough to laud Ronaldo.
