I think HSV are out now if we're honest.

Werder will also have a bit of a struggle but if Bayern top their group they could end out getting a favourable draw.

The only real danger teams I anticipate that they could face would be Chelsea/Barca, Roma and Real Madrid

They call Bayern "La Bestia Negra" in Madrid for a reason. The traditional bogey team for Real, at least in the past.

Bayern traditionally don't like Italian teams, but things seem to have changed this season as well.

But they don't play like one, at least not all the time it seems. Real's weakness is the defensive qualities of their fullbacks, and I can see Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Sagnol etc. making life very hard for them.

Both Bayern and us, actually any team in the competition really, would not like to meet Lyon early this season.

Dear Lederhose, it looks like your team's thread is completely run by Werder fans... Laughing

However, here are some press reactions from the Italian press:

Corriere della Sera: "Alptraum Inter - Bayern feiert in San Siro. Bayern München ist immer ein Alptraum für Inter. Wie vor 18 Jahren haben die Bayern San Siro in ein Eroberungsfeld verwandelt. Pizarro setzte Inters Abwehr das ganze Spiel unter Druck."

Bayern Munich midfielder Mark van Bommel refuses to play for Oranje as long as van Basten is their coach. Same goes for Van Nistelrooy.

"Mark van Bommel has told the technical staff on the Dutch squad tonight that he no longer wants to play for the Netherlands under the current coach staff," said a statement from the Royal Netherlands Football Association.

After the 0-1 defeat at Wolfsburg it's been very quiet at Bayern Munich. No statements from either K.H.Rummenigge or Uli Hoeness which is very uncommon. Some Bayern fans say it's the calm before the storm, which was last witnessed like this before Otto Rehhagel's dismissal back in the 90s.

My feeling is that Magath is on probation now until the match against Hertha in two weeks. His domestic success will not save him in the long run I think. More and more fans have (like myself) complained about Bayern's extremely unattractive style of play and non-sensical line-ups and substitutions.

We'll see how it'll all end...

    van Basten Laughing

that way Bayern would still not win anything

    +

play unattractive football, thereby teaching Germans that ORANGE is not always beautiful

    +

Magath could go and take over Costa Rica

    +

Otto Rehagel would then be in charge of Oranje teaching them Nederlanders how to win

    +

Klinsi would become external advisor to Greece, with Makaay becoming player/manager (obviously, he would need to get a Greek passport first but Beckenbauer would mysteriously pull one out of his sleeve)

    +

we will then SACK Goetz and install blutgraetsche at Hertha, where he would celebrate his own particular brand of "herzerfrischend, pessimistischer, deutscher Jugenwahn"

everybody taken care off now ?? Wink

Hertha's youth is great. Typical "Straßenkicker" in that dirty metropolitan nightmare called Berlin (great city though), something we've been missing for ages. Wait and see, they have quite a few very interesting youngsters coming through, Boateng being the prime example.

The future looks bright, not just because of Hertha's great youth academy.

blutgraetsche will lead Hertha to 7 Bundesliga titles in a row, refusing to celebrate even one of them , since, in his own words:

" Nach der Meisterschaft ist vor der Meisterschaft, wir muessen hier realistisch sein. Die naechste Saison wird viel schwerer. Die Gegner schlafen nicht " lol!

very soon, Hertha will be seen as the biggest club in the world, to which blut will say:

" Das war wirklich nicht vorhersehbar. Wir stehen gut da aber werden nie so gross werden wie Bremen" Whistle

meanwhile, chrissicross will have become "Volksminister fuer Informationflow"

Guus Hiddink would be a dream, but that seems impossible at the moment.

Maybe Hitzfeld. He seems to be waiting for an offer from a big club.

Realistic candidates? I really don't know.

Not sure though that Hitzfeld is just a case of nostalgia. He seems rejuvenated and this is a very different team from the one he couldn't motivate anymore 3 years ago. Might work, might not.

What about a "non big name"? Would Bayern fans accept that? Or would it be too risky for a club like Bayern?

Hey, Co is my favourite Dutchie after all. Only because of him, we had a chance to sign Diego from Porto. Very Happy

Bayern had some excentric coaches in the past already, and he would fit into FC Hollywood perfectly for this reason, but I can't see it happening. Excentric and Dutch is too much to handle, even for Bayern... Wink

    From UEFA.com

    Bayern welcome Deisler back

FC Bayern München midfielder Sebastian Deisler is "happy to be back" as he returned to training exactly seven months after suffering the fifth major knee injury of his career.

    No problems

The 26-year-old German international sustained cartilage damage in his right knee in training on 3 March, having managed more than 20 league games in a season only once since joining Bayern from Hertha BSC Berlin in 2002. Deisler came through 75 minutes of training with no ill-effects yesterday and may play for the reserves in the third division at the weekend. He said: "I have absolutely no problems. I am happy to be playing football again and we will just see how things go."

    Magath pleased

Bayern coach Felix Magath said: "I am glad that he took part again. He was very good and was not frightened at all. He looked good and hasn't forgotten anything. We will give him time and won't put him under pressure." Defender Andreas Görlitz, 24, is also back after recovering from a cruciate ligament tear suffered last November, although neither player is expected to be selected for the UEFA Champions League fixture at Sporting Clube de Portugal on 18 October. Bayern lead Group B with maximum points from two games.
