Will they (or other "elite" clubs that have shown interest for months already) lose interest if he plays another (or more) years and establishes himself in the league?

What utter nonsense. And what is so difficult to understand about "not for sale"? No, not for 20, 30 or 40 m EUR. We won't sell him after one season. Period.

Ok I was just enquiring, you dont have to sell him or anyone. I saw the rumour on this thread and made a comment based on the fact that Diego plays in the German league for Werder and Real are a club that most players want to join (maybe not so much now as they arent very good), especially Brazilian ones.

I hadnt realised that Diego had come out and denied that was any contact. Besides he is not German and if Real are seriosly interested in him, if he has any ambition he would be interested in joining them.

Like I said in the thread where we discussed this matter already, we will lose him sooner or later, there is no doubt about that. Diego will leave us, but definitely not this season, when we probably lose two other key players already. This will simply not happen.

He will stay for another season at least, and then move to one of the biggest European clubs of his choice. And then, after 2 or more excellent seasons in the league, we will really cash in.

Real will be a good bet then indeed, because of his friend Robinho playing there. But Diego knows about the difficulties Robinho had there (he seriously considered leaving Real even), he knows that it's still not clear who will be the next manager at Real etc. pp. Diego had a tough time in Porto, because he didn't get along with the manager, and he is very happy in Bremen, as he said repeatedly himself.

    true, true

die Nationalmannschaft would indeed benefit from an exodus of our best German players

not the same thing as saying that the Bundesliga would reap the harvest

remember, the Brazil/Dutch league is a bit of a joke as well; Brazil/Holland though profit big time

the difference to the Bundesliga is that too much money is involved, too many fans, sponsors

I have to level with you regards Cricket

I did know that Ireland are catching up fast with England lol!

watch Abbie Cornish in Somersault <Ale>

    Das Experiment is very good

so is "The Princess and the Warrior" with Lola, this time NOT running

    Very Happy

is there a contradiction between saying that we have a German conveyor belt of talents and fearing the Bundesliga could become Star-light if the likes of Klose all left ?

    of course not

watching a young exciting talent like Schindler or even Ottl, Gomez, Polanski... is not the same thing as oogling "the best striker in the world" (aka the MONSTER)

and yes, many young talents are coming through; BUT, they won't be if clubs sell the Kloses or Jansens of the world for good money only to replace them with "foreign stars" like Diego, Tinga or Bastuerk

    remember Odonkor ??

remember Stuttgart after Kuranyi, Hinkel and Lahm left ??

clubs tend to trust young German talents only when cash-strapped

sobald die Kohle reinkommt: tata , this is a foreign star !!!

    Klose leaving is understandable

the likes of Jansen leaving would be a major set-back for the Budesliga
Lahm leaving couldn't really be prevented anyway--if only the officials had worked in some buying-clause into the loan contract... Ah well.

Kuranyi has now been replaced by Gomez--and he wasn't exactly on top of his form under Sammer either. Well, okay, which player apart from Hildebrand maybe was?

Hinkel... He only left last summer, FFS. Sure, we'll always miss his dribblings and runs and assists from before the injuries--which club wouldn't? But yeah, it was better for him and in the end the best for the club as well. Osorio is a decent replacement, full stop.
