Bundesliga summer transfers 2008 Empty Bundesliga summer transfers 2008

Post by blutgraetsche Fri May 09, 2008 5:28 pm

As promised earlier, here is a new Bundesliga transfer thread. Just post all transfer rumours (and done deals) regarding Bundesliga clubs in here.
Euro 2008 should make things more interesting this summer, hopefully, the clubs can attract some new stars, while not losing too many of their own.

    Done deals:

Cristian Zaccardo (26, RB) to Wolfsburg from US Palermo, €7m

Mimoun Azaouagh (25, AM) to Bochum from Schalke, undisclosed fee

    To be confirmed:

    Gennaro Gattuso (Milan) to Bayern

Lahm (Bayern) to Barcelona or Manchester United

    Martin Jol to Hamburg

    Rumours:

    Jens Lehmann (Arsenal) to Stuttgart

Jefferson Farfán (PSV) to Werder Bremen

Marcelo Moreno (Cruzeiro ) to Werder Bremen

    etc.

Updated list on all transfers this season:

According to various media, Gattuso to Bayern is a done deal. He'll supposedly earn €6m a year, and cost €15-20m. Not confirmed by the Bayern board though, although Beckenbauer seems to like him very much.

True, that might be a factor also.

Schalke, having reached the CL 1/4 finals as the only German club this season (= very high CL revenues), generated a record-breaking total turnover of ~€150m this season. This means that they are almost in the top 10 of the richest European clubs according to the newest Deloitte Football Money League list:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deloitte_Football_Money_League

This also means that they will have a lot of money to spend this summer, now that they have qualified for the CL again (third spot is secured).

Another reason why Werder has to finish second this season, otherwise they'll easily outspend us this summer, and make things more difficult for us next season.

Well, we need a striker and a DMC, maybe also a replacement for Borowski even though I think we can replace him with Özil/Hunt and should better invest the saved money in a better striker/DMC.

So far we´ve been recently linked with Claudio Pizarro, Marcelo Moreno, Jefferson Farfan, Nicklas Bendtner, John Carew, Milan Baros and Lukas Podolski.

With regard to midfielders with Thiago Neves and Renato Augusto.

And also with Yohann Pele as potential new goalie.

    All just rumours though...

    Klasse. Ganz großes Kino!

I'm beginning to think, though, that it mightn't be the worst thing for Schäfer to leave the club--for his own sake.

According to a Russian source, Bayern are interested in signing Zenit's Anatoly Tymoschuk.

He is exactly the type of player Bayern need for the defensive midfield, much more so than Gattuso, for example, but I can't see Zenit selling their most important and most expensive player (highest transfer fee ever in Russia) after just one year.

According to BILD, Arsenal are interested in signing HSV's Vincent Kompany. Wenger supposedly rates him highly, and wanted to sign him in 2006 already. He was not willing to pay more than €7.5m for him back then though, so HSV signed him for €8.5m. Now however, Arsenal are supposedly willing to pay €20m for him.

    http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/fussball/bundesliga/vereine/hsv/2008/05/13/katastrophen-kompany/arsenal-bietet-20-millionen,geo=4509850.html

    ___________________________

Kompany is quite injury prone, and has not even fully established himself at HSV yet, was rather inconsistent (e.g. the horrible last match against Cottbus). So far, he has not met the high expectations HSV had when they singed him, you could even call him a flop.

I don't really know what could justify paying more than twice the sum for him now.

Tymoschuk is only a year younger than Gattuso. Smile

IMHO, Bayern need a more versatile, more 'strategic' defensive midfielder than Gattuso, who is the ideal partner for the 'strategic' Pirlo at Milan. Tymoschuk is not only a great passer and creator, but strong defensively also, the ideal player for Bayern.

If they sign Gattuso, he has to play with Ze Roberto (or Kroos) in the central midfield, provided they keep their current system. A Gattuso - Van Bommel central midfield may be scary, but it's not creative enough, and won't work. Ze Roberto however will only stay for another year, so they will have to sign another creative central midfielder in near future, unless they really want to give 18 year old Toni Kroos a chance to be a starter. Would be great, but I can't see that happening. Gattuso - Ottl could work also, since the latter is not strong enough defensively, but a very good passer.

Well it will be hard, but with the Gazprom budget, the coach, and Engelaar(brilliant player you will see him at the euros) I think it will be possible. All depends on what Bayern is going to spend..again this summer.

Schalke badly need some creativity in the midfield. I don't know what kind of player Engelaar is, but he better add some flair to their squad. Schalke basically played with 3 'destroyers' in the midfield all season, while they overburdened a young talent like Rakitic in his first year at the club. Not only that, they even scared away one of their best creative talents, Mesut Özil (thank you Orcs).

Without some creativity and additional quality, Schalke will not be a real challenger for the title. Not to forget their notorious, well earned image as perennial chokers.

FIORENTINA, Bayern and Schalke want Mutu

Bayern Munchen and Schalke 04 seem ready to offer to Fiorentina ace Adrian Mutu a 5 million Euros per year contract. The rumanian player, who has always declared his will to remain in Florence, could change his mind in front of such a huge offer.

As Blut says, he has been disappointing this season, and frankly he has been rubbish recently (but then the same could be said for virtually all of Stuttgart's defensive players). Think he got called up to the French squad fairly recently though for their 'A' team or whatever it is they call the reserve players.
