That would be the deal of the summer imo. Sad

I think I'd explode if that happened - I'd be a pain in the arse on here for the whole summer

He set up more goals in CL than any other player when Barca won it I think ?

He does much more outside the box than Ronaldo and can destroy a team single-handedly on his day.

He has taken over the mantle of world's best striker from Sheva - who took it from Ronaldo - who took it from Batigol!

Barusso lands Roma deal Friday 15 June, 2007

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma have secured the co-ownership signing of Ahmed Apimah Barusso from Serie B side Rimini.

The Ghanaian, known as Ciro to his friends, has agreed a five-year contract with the Giallorossi worth £200,000 a season, while Roma will pay Rimini £1.4m.

The 22-year-old fractured his tibia and fibula in October, but is close to a complete recovery and has already passed his medical.

However, some smaller details still need to be finalised and the transfer will only be officially announced on July 2.

The midfielder, who caught the eye of Milan and Inter last season, as well as Arsenal and Tottenham, is renowned for his long-range shooting.

He was also decisive in helping Manfredonia win triple promotion from the amateur Leagues to Serie C1 and impressed with Rimini last term before his serious injury.

Interesting - he looked very handy on the couple of occasions I've seen him play (before Eurosport ditched Serie B).

Good athlete, very strong and has an absolute cannon of a shot.

    Decent box-to-box player ok

Cesc posted this, and I think it's right - Arsenal did ask about Etoo, but we said no. The two alternatives are (assuming the player says yes):

    1. Negotiate a straight cash deal between 15-20 million pounds.

    2. 12 million pounds + Marquez (I would be ok with that except I can't see what Arsenal will do with Marquez).

But then again, this supposed meeting that L'Equipe referred to was between Wenger and our financial director Soriano. That indicates to me money is the only thing entering this deal, no players.

Still, it's all preliminary stuff. This time next week we should have a very clear idea.

    ok

Discussions between the two clubs are at a very early stage this has been reported by many sources in the media. Arsene Wenger did meet a financial director of Barcelona this week to know doubt discuss valuations and how a possible deal could be done. The fact Arsene Wenger had this meeting clearly indicates that Thierry Henry has welcomed the fact of moving to the Nou Camp, he wouldn't negotiate something behind his back.

Samuel Eto'o has said to the media that he wishes to stay at Barcelona, he has said this many times recently. I don't know if he is a man of his word. Wenger wants him to be part of the deal if there is any possibility that he would fancy a move to England. Last year Wenger insisted that William Gallas was part of the Ashley Cole deal so I think he will test Barcelona's resolve this Summer. Marquez has been mentioned too, but I fail to see how he will fit in at Arsenal.

Thierry Henry despite all the talk has not said that he will stay at Arsenal indefinately. Arsenal fans have been unfairly mistreated by a few of our favourites down the years. Patrick Vieira flirted with many clubs each Summer and usually left it to the last week to commit himself. This Summer is no different with Thierry Henry. It is sad when a player behaves like these, its even sadder when the club captain acts like this.

If there's one thing Etoo has, it's his own pride. He says what he thinks, no PR bullshit or sugar-coating or leaving things open-ended.

And IMO it's not just the statements that he's made that confirm to me he's staying, but the manner of them. The most emphatic is recently at a publicity event, he interrupted journalists when they were asking questions on other matters, and said: "by the way, I'm staying at Barcelona next year. And not just because I have a contract. I'm staying because *I want to*. The fans love me, I love it here, and if the board ever decides I'm not needed or the fans want me to go, that's the only time I will go, but with sadness. And it will be a mistake by them to force me out".

it is sad but he has ambitions and wants to win trophies , what is the likeliness of arsenal winning any meaningful trophies? not that i dislike arsenal but im sure he was promised that arsenal wll strive towards greatness and they havent lived up to their side of the deal either.

As a person I completely understand that he wants to win trophies and prizes, thats what all footballers want to do. Therefore I would not blame him or hold it aginst him if he moved onto a new challenge to say Barcelona or AC Milan.

Its the constant stalling and indecision that annoys us Arsenal fans, he left it late last year and again this year all Thierry Henry has come out with is that he "could be staying". If he came out and said that he was looking for a new challenge then things may be different as we can begin to move on and plan ahead. We were very poor last year I can acknowledge that with no fuss, he knew the situation when he signed on for four more years though. We were never going to bring in huge names and break the Bank. In the end it didn't even matter as he was injured or on extended holiday for most of the season.

Well, it's still early. Officially the window only opens on July 1. If you want a quick response, like last year, you will get it this year too. Wait a week or 10 days and I think everything will be clear, either way.

Corini has signed for Torino ! I guess this means he will partner Barone again in the centre of midfield.

Tiago will sign for an Italian side (he is in talks with 2) in the next dew days Lyon have announced for a fee in the region of around £10m.

He could fit in as the much needed alternative for Pirlo, who is getting more and more complacent because he is 100% sure of his starting spot.I like andrea a lot, but he needs some competition, his performances in the past couple of years weren't as good as before IMO. And im sure Tiago would get plenty of games anyway, cause he is an all-around midfielder than can defend as well as attack Wink

But i dont think we'll get him, the Gobbi will

    Galliani: Eto’o our main target
    Monday 18 June, 2007
Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani insists that Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o remains the club’s main target.

The Rossoneri have been heavily linked with the Cameroon international over the past few weeks, when Galliani admitted that he was waiting for the end of the Liga season to make an official move.

The Spanish championship ended on Sunday, when Barcelona were pipped in the race for the title by Real Madrid.

Several Blaugrana players, including Eto’o and Ronaldinho, are now being linked with a summer move and the San Siro is being touted as their possible destination.

“Do Milan want Ronaldinho? Our first objective is Eto’o,” said Galliani on Monday.

“If it is possible from a financial point of view, we will complete the move, otherwise we will continue with the Champions League winning squad, plus Ronaldo,” added the former Lega Calcio President.

Silvio Berlusconi had stated last week that if he could choose between signing Eto’o and bringing back Andriy Shevchenko, he would go for the Ukrainian star.

“Berlusconi and I agree on everything and that has never changed over the past thirty years,” explained Galliani.

“Is Eto’o the best possible solution? I cannot give an answer to this question, there are many different roads we can take,” concluded the Rossonero.

Eto’o recently insisted that he wanted to continue his adventure with the Nou Camp outfit, although his future has yet to be decided as it is understood that the Italian giants might offer up to £28m for the striker

    Chill out man.

I know Eto'o doesn't want to leave, but even the Spanish press is reporting that because of the strife between Ronaldinho and Eto'o, one of them will be offloaded. If one out of these two were to go, I would bank on Eto'o.

Btw, I wanted you guys to win La Liga, even if it meant potentially losing out on a transfer.

If you were to say Eto'o is not for sale, we would politely leave. We just won the CL, and we have a ton of money available because Silvio is opening his checkbook. I don't like the man's politics either, but he is a great president for us. Any team that wins the CL is always ready to flex their muscle.

Anyway, why worry, if Eto'o leaves you're getting Henry.

Just to make this clear: the only thing I hate about Milan is Berlusconi. Milan have a proud history of some of the best football this sport has ever seen, and great fans.

If Milan continue like this, they'll overtake Real as the biggest club on the planet. Not that I'd like to see Berlusconi getting the praise for it though...

What, you don't like the gradual erosion of fundamental civil liberties such as freedom of expression? Laughing

Fair enough. But you can't fault the man for his commitment to the Rossoneri. He has also been very shrewd with his appointments. From Sacchi to Ancelotti.

I said it was slightly exaggerated Wink but I do find that you guys are using double standards.. Basically a day doesn't go by without one of your directors comes out telling the press how much they would love to sign one of our players, yet you get upset when Madrid talks about Kaká

As for Henry, it would certainly be a big disappointment if he was a replacement for Eto'o..

I don't like the man's politics either, but he is a great president for us. Any team that wins the CL is always ready to flex their muscle.

Anyway, why worry, if Eto'o leaves you're getting Henry.

Your post, however, was a bit gratuitous, don't you think
    ?

I said it was slightly exaggerated Wink but I do find that you guys are using double standards.. Basically a day doesn't go by without one of your directors comes out telling the press how much they would love to sign one of our players, yet you get upset when Madrid talks about Kaká

As for Henry, it would certainly be a big disappointment if he was a replacement for Eto'o..

But the difference is Milan (and Kaka) have told Real to buzz off.

Barca, as far as I can tell, have not been as emphatic. I guess the Henry thing would be disappointing because of the age thing, right?

yeah exactly he will lose his pace in a year or two and then what does he have?? eto'o on the other hand fits the system perfectly.

Eto'o and Laporta has been telling everybody that Eto'o is staying (today for instance) but I guess that your directors just chose to ignore that..

I guarantee you, if Laporta said to Galliani, that please go back to Italy, he would.

We don't really play that dirty.

    Question

Henry is WORLD CLASS - as replacements go you could do a lot worse

yep but at 30 he has about 2-3 years left before we would have spend another £40 mill to find a player like Eto'o.... very bad business..

I thought the idea was that Henry would be there as a player through which Krkic could be faded into the squad?

I'm surprised I'm having to enlighten you on your own squad's plans oleguer Wink
