Veiri has been out of football for far too long to play a big role for a CL aspirant. As much as I like Bobo and Viola, they are not a good match.

Bobo should have gone to napoli or genoa, a team which would have regularily played around him, and a team he could lead to top half of the table.

I guess Milan fans will have to be happy with just Ba ;)

    Galliani: No big swoop
    Thursday 19 July, 2007

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has told journalists that the Rossoneri will not be signing a big-name striker this summer.

The Diavoli had been tipped to bring in a variety of world-class strikers this summer, but after weeks of speculation it seems they will start the season without a new face in attack.

There were rumours in recent days that Milan were preparing a mammoth bid for Barcelona’s Cameroon international star Samuel Eto’o, but Galliani has denied this

“No-one is coming – not Samuel Eto’o or Ronaldinho,” the Milan official told Press at the end of an Italian Football Federation meeting.

“We never made a £30m offer for Eto’o as he is not for sale. We have a strong squad without any new signings.

“I see Kaka as a striker and he’s 200 per cent certain to stay. He was the top scorer in the Champions League and we have Ronaldo, Pippo Inzaghi and Alberto Gilardino as well.”

So he finally fucking understands Doh

I wonder how long this new realisation will last before we see Etoo or Ronaldinho once again included in a "shortlist of 5 players we will sign from".

I think it's just a tactic. Milan management does this every summer. If no one arrives, then I guess we will have to make do with what we have. Let's wait and see.

Milan need some signings, they should have a decent amount of money aswell since theyve been doing so well in the CL plus the money from Shevas sale.

I still think Cassano would be perfect for them since he can play in midfield or as a 2nd striker.

Theres no guarantee that Ronaldo and Inzaghi will stay fit during the season and we don't know how Gila will perform.

Good point, he'd be cheap too. I'm surprised Madrid haven't already got rid of him.

I guess everyone deserves a second chance! I hope we get to see the Adriano of old soon...

    Adriano: My alcohol nightmare
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adriano has revealed the reason for his excessive partying and how Massimo Moratti helped him out of this nightmare. “I will repay Inter.” Once considered potentially the greatest striker in the world, the last two years have seen L’Imperatore spend more time making headlines in the gossip columns than the sport section.

“I miss my father so much. He died in the summer of 2004, but it seemed as if my mind only registered his absence some time later,” he explained to the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport.’ “I hadn’t seen him die, so when I returned to Italy to play, it felt like in a certain sense he was still here with us. I started suffering when I went to Brazil for my holidays. He wasn’t there and I so wanted to be with him.”

That was the start of a spiral that took Adriano further and further away from a stable home life, something he in fact craved. “I argued with my girlfriend Daniela, who was expecting my son, and started to go to nightclubs and bars. Above all I tried to wash away all my problems with alcohol. “I drank a lot and couldn’t help go out at night. I had to, otherwise I couldn’t sleep at all. It became impossible for me to stay at home. I felt so alone.”

The Brazilian fell badly out of form, gained weight and was excluded from the Nerazzurri side after a row with Coach Roberto Mancini. He seemed set to leave Inter for Real Madrid, but President Moratti never lost faith in his favourite hitman. “I looked into my son’s eyes on his birthday and all the clouds disappeared. I realised we had to get back together and be a family again. Today I have rediscovered my family, my girlfriend and my responsibilities,” continued Adriano.

“This is what gives me the certainty I can give back to Moratti everything I took away from him in this period. I must thank him for the patience he had with me. “It is wonderful to know that, especially in the most difficult moments, your President still counts on you. He was at times tough with me, but never let me feel alone. I will repay him, not just with goals, but with effort, hard work and sweat.”

I am very impressed with Palermo's summer. I was expecting a summer sale, and when they let corini go, my suspicions looked real. But instead, Palermo has surprised me with 2 shrewed buys, apart from retaining most of their top players.

Miccoli looks rejuvanated and is an immense imporvemnet from Di Michelle.

Cavani as we know, has more talent in his left heel than Caracciolo ever had. He was a winter buy, but now is first team, and its clear why.

And Jankovic is carrying on his Euro U21 form, and from the looks of it, Corini will not beb missed.

These 3 guys will be key, and since Palermo have retained the rest of their stars including Amauri, Tedesco, Barzagli, Simplico, Bresciano, Diana, Zaccardo, etc they have a first XI which is almost as good as the top sides.

    Friendlies: Marvellous Miccoli
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fabrizio Miccoli continues to shine as Palermo beat Triestina 3-1, but Bologna’s problems go from bad to worse. The Rosanero summer signing from Juventus has been the star player so far in pre-season and hit the back of the net again. Miccoli is forging a solid partnership with Edison Cavani and it was the young Uruguayan who opened the scoring after 21 minutes with a solo effort. Triestina were dangerous with Allegretti’s free kick, but Jankovic made it 2-0 by intercepting a loose ball in midfield and charging forward for the powerful finish.

The Serie B outfit certainly did not sit back and got into the game through Mattia Graffiedi after Alberto Fontana had only parried a Luigi Piangerelli strike. Miccoli completed the scoring when he hooked down an Aimo Diana chipped pass over the defence and smashed the angled drive past the goalkeeper. Amauri was able to play the entire second half – a definite improvement from the 20 minutes he had managed so far in his recovery from knee ligament surgery – and he earned the applause of the fans with an impressive backheel touch.

    Palermo 3-1 Triestina
    Scorers: Cavani 21 (P), Jankovic 29 (P), Graffiedi 35 (T), Miccoli 45 (P)
Palermo: Fontana (Agliardi 46); Zaccardo, Rinaudo (Cossentino 76), Biava (Dellafiore 14), Cassani; Diana (Velardi 67), Migliaccio (Guana 46), Simplicio (Tedesco 46), Jankovic (Matteini 46); Miccoli (Amauri 46), Cavani (Matusiak 61)

You guys can never have to many strikers. Laughing At one time you had Ronaldo, Zamorano, Vieri, Ventola, Recoba and Mutu + Baggio (I'm not 100% sure if he was there at the time).
