I think the hatred is more directed at Bayern the club, who have a history of weakening the national opposition by buying up their best (often German) players. Haven't read the article yet but in this case there a clearly going to be a lot of the best German talent sitting on the bench at Bayern or certainly not in the first-choice XI, so it does seem to be more about buying the other clubs out of the competition rather than benefiting their own team. It's all about money, and the arrogant empire-building that Bayern is notorious for.
In a wider context, Bavaria is a great, and stunning, place but often seems like a bit of a bubble, a different country which does sometimes think it's better (e.g. the since turned laughing-stock Edmund Stoiber saying there would be no problems if every other Bundesland was as intelligent as the Bavarians)...
There's something very "süffisant", self-satisfied, about the Bavarian character which still exists, and grates.
And of course, "children", Klose is worth 30m€ by English criteria, certainly in terms of class even if he's not in form at the moment. Ashley Young (who he?) £10m, Shevchenko £30m... he's no Voronin you realize... ;-)
