Fantastic match on sunday evening, and a really good atmosphere for Pato's arrival. I arrived at San Siro early for the parade of Berlusconi's international trophies, but all everybody was waiting for was Pato!

It's clear watching the side every week that there are severe problems with the teams zonal defensive syatem, the players do not move together, and we are too often caught out with our wing-backs too narrow on the counter, Sosa's goal is a great example of us getting caught flat while our opponents can get players wide and really exploit this indecision.

Nesta is the main man at the defence this season, the only defender to come out with any credit, he's been magnificent, but it's difficult for him to co-ordinate as his natural character is not assertive and he is not a dominant personality that Maldini is. Bonera was diabolical, but not his fault that he is played at right-back, a position which he is completely inept for as he is not the most mobile or quick on the turn or provides much dynamism or threat in offence. Centre-back is much more suited to his more physical and assertive style. There is a good player there, but he has suffered on account of the clubs need to rotate and his perceived flexibility.

The Ka-Pa-Ro axis worked incredibly well together, hopefully this is a good sign, the understanding and movement was brilliant, even Ronaldo looked more agile and found more spaces than usual, he should have had a hat-trick. Pato was fantastic, more composure with shooting from wider angles and he too could have scored three, and he took Favalli's ball for his goal very well. His close control and ability to shift his markers off balance is very good, and he showed an ability to shoot early as well. The kid is still very young, but its a promising debut and shows you the state and atmosphere around Milan at the moment when we are really trusting our season in the hands of the Ka-Pa-Ro axis! Pato showed he could take the pressure of nearly five months of expectation and played a great match.

Seedorf's latest outburst is worrying, he is a fantastic player and must realise that he is at the disposal of the team not vice versa. He can still play a role from deeper, but we must all make sacrifices to accomodate this new axis, especially if it proves to work as well as it did against Napoli. Udinese will be a much sterner test, if they play 4-3-3 then i don't expect much opportunity or risk to get the wider backs foward - especially if as expected Bonera and Maldini start, they will be too preoccupied with Pepe, Quagliarella and Di Natale, the vital thing is not to be stretched, so it is essential that our zonal system is perfectly in tune for this as there will be a lot of space and movement to pick up.

If as is speculated Udinese go 3-4-3 then i think that really could play for us, it allows two lines that our deeper players can exploit unless Dossena or Mesto drop into the gap in front of the defence, Zapata is versatile enough to control his third, but i'd question the dominace of Coda and Lukovic as part of a three man defence, especially in the absence of Felipe i don't think there's the ability to take control.

Either way, their strike force is on form, even if their defence is starting to break up, with Felipe about to start his second successive suspension. A very difficult opponent but we have an excellent record recently at Friuli recently.

Three games in hand, and a chance to take more points off a fourth place rival. Its a key game, but we have had a false dawn earlier in the season after the huge wins over Lazio and Sampdoria, we couldn't really use them as momentum.

I'm next at San Siro next sunday for the Genoa match, but i really should try to get to more away matches, the Friuli is a great stadium, the best for atmosphere i've been to is Palermo's, i love the coastal stadiums, Atalanta's is quite atmospheric as well, and one of the most intimidating is Luigi Ferraris, a very tight and claustrophobic away section, the stands are steep and run exactly along the touchlines, it must be a difficult place to play at night for an away side.

Also got to add that its a delight to see Cassano come back into form and start showing his talent. I really hope he can get some consistency to his game and come with us to Euro2008. His work for Bellucci's goal was excellent,. At the weekend, Ibrahimovic scored a stupendous goal and Mancini turned in a good performance. Hopefully our italian sides can keep their form and carry it into Europe in their difficult ties.

Hey Pirlo, looks like your year has started well!

People are already comparing Milan's Ka-Pa-Ro to the legendary MaGiCa of Napoli in the 80s (Maradona-Giordano-Careca). They surely made an impact in the debut last sunday... I can't wait to see how they perform against Udinese, that will be a real test.

Cassano has done very well in the last 2 months. I think an Azzurri recall is in the cards, I am quite certain he will be called up for the next friendly.

    A good win against Reggina.

Gilardino scores his seventh of the season. Pirlo played very well. We had Reggina pinned in their half for large parts of the game.

We have now won 4 of our last five games, and we leapfrog Sampdoria into 6th place.

Big game against Fiorentina on Sunday!!

Yeah, this is almost like a CL play-off...

Luckily for Milan, Fiorentina have been in poor form last coupla months.

Milan superstar Kaka has revealed that he is concerned about the future of team-mate Alexandre Pato due to the unbearable pressure being heaped on the youngster.

zoom - galleria Pato was hailed as one of the most promising talents to come out of Brazil in years in the build-up to his long-awaited debut for the Rossoneri against Napoli a few weeks ago.

Despite all the hype Pato has not disappointed, scoring on his debut, and also adding a double against Genoa last weekend.

So far the 18-year-old has appeared to show that he can handle the pressure and expectation, however Kaka is still concerned about his compatriot.

"If I am honest I am a little worried for him,” said the European and World Footballer of the Year.

“He is burdened by high expectations, and he may end up being crushed by the many pressures.

“When I arrived at Milan, my situation was very different. I was 21-years-old, I was not so popular, and I did not cost so much.”

Some have compared Pato to Ronaldo’s explosion onto the European scene in the mid-1990s, but Kaka warns that the new kid on the block still needs to improve his technique.

“Not only that, but now they write in Brazil that the ‘new Ronaldo’ has been born,” Kaka continued.

“Take it slowly Brazilian friends, take it slowly. Pato, with the ball at his feet, is impregnable in speed but he must improve his technique and quality.”

Theres an obvious element of obviousness, Milan instead of going out and recruiting a GK, CB, along with our squad needs signed The Duck, and hoped it would solve all their problems.

But i get the idea Kaka is a bit upset that he's no longer the talk of the town Very Happy

Like I said yesterday, sources in the Italian media are saying 2 weeks for Pato. The objective is to get him fit for Arsenal. He will sit out the Feb 16 game against Parma as a precaution:

Kaka is right. There is too much pressure right now on Pato, even in Brazil. But I guess when your strikeforce includes Vagner Love, the hype makes sense.

I Want To Stay At Milan For Life - Kaká AC Milan star and Golden Ball winner talked about his desire to stay with the Rossoneri and eventually become the team's captain.
I Want To Stay At Milan For Life - Kaká
    zoom - galleria

It seems light years ago that those monotonous news stories came from Spain concerning Real Madrid's intense interest for Golden Ball winner Kaká. The Spanish media apparently did not take into account either AC Milan's or the player's own intentions.

The Brazilian playmaker reiterated his desire to stay with Milan for the rest of his career on Spanish daily Publico: "I'd like to end my career at Milan. I like the city, the team, the country. I'd like to continue winning here and one day become captain.

"It's never been a problem when [Real Madrid president Ramon] Calderon said he wanted to bring me to Madrid and Milan responded they didn't want to let me go. Those things happen in football, but in the end my will is to stay at Milan."

About Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti, he said: "He's always been good for me, he always let me play, I think he's a great coach."

His last comments were on Barcelona star Lionel Messi, who along with Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo, was a strong contender for the Golden Ball award: "I would love to play with him, I'd have him with me in any team in the world."

    Milan Now Optimistic Over Pato

The latest word from the Milanello is that the ankle injury suffered by Pato on the weekend is not nearly as bad as first feared.

The Brazilian teenage sensation came off the bench at the Stadio Franchi to score the only goal of the game in Milan's 1-0 victory over Fiorentina on Sunday night, only to be stretchered off the pitch in serious distress after badly turning his ankle in the dieing moments of the match.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has just relayed some highly encouraging news from the club's medical staff and has even gone as far as suggesting that there is genuine hope that the prodigiously gifted youngster could be back in time for the first leg of their Champions League clash against Arsenal on 20th February.

"I have spoken to the doctors. Our hope is to have him (Pato) available for the game in London," he said.

Galliani also gave an update on the status of the club's midfield destroyer Gennaro Gattuso, saying the he too is well on the road to recovery.

He said: "Gattuso has a thigh problem. We will have to speak to the doctors but we hope to have him back (in training) next week."

Milan hoping Pato will recover for Arsenal clash

MILAN, Feb 5 (Reuters) - AC Milan hope Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato can recover from an ankle injury in time for the Champions League match at Arsenal later this month, vice-president Adriano Galliani said on Tuesday.

The 18-year-old, who has netted four goals since his arrival at the start of January, hurt his ankle after coming on as a substitute and scoring in Sunday's 1-0 win at Fiorentina.

The European champions visit the English Premier League leaders in a last 16 first-leg clash on Feb. 20.

'I have heard from the doctors. The hope is that we will have him for London,' Galliani told Italian media.

Milan have suffered a minor injury crisis with Gennaro Gattuso, Kaka, Ronaldo, Clarence Seedorf and Filippo Inzaghi carrying knocks.

However, they are all expected to be fit for the Arsenal tie with Gattuso's thigh injury not as bad as first thought.

'He has a muscle problem. We need to speak to the doctors but we hope to have him available next week,' Galliani added.

Kaka Could Be Out For Four Months With Knee Problem

Milan superstar Kaka may be forced to sit out of action for four months in order to cure a chronic knee problem, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

The European and World Footballer of the Year has been playing with a niggling sensation in his knee for quite some time now, but the problem has worsened in recent weeks.

This has been a factor in Kaka’s under-par performances of late, and the pain was said to be so bad in Sunday night’s 1-0 win over Fiorentina that the player was forced to come off in the closing stages.

The 25-year-old has pulled out of Brazil’s international squad and has been replaced by Werder Bremen’s Diego.

Kaka is now a doubt for this Sunday’s game with Siena, possibly leaving Milan without a forward of any description, as Alberto Gilardino is suspended and Alexandre Pato, Ronaldo and Filippo Inzaghi injured.

In order to clear up the injury, Kaka may be forced to sit out of action for four months, which would surely be an irreparable blow to Milan.

Rossoneri doctor Pierre Meersseman is less concerned about the problem however, and does not believe that a spell on the sidelines is required.

"This is nothing serious,” he told Milan Channel.

“For a couple of years he has been living with this discomfort in his knee.

“Before and after training and matches, Kakà undergoes physiotherapy exercises that make it better. Even if he has four to five months rest, there is no guarantee the problem will pass.”
    ===================================

I know that is Goal.com but here in Brazil rumors that Kaka may have a serious injury are hitting the internet, in fact they say that he was already felling pain for weeks and that now it finally got him. He may be the big concern for Milan. Maybe thats why he was playing so bad.

    Hi Juligen.

The original story was in Corriere dello sport. Kaka has had this problem for a year or so now (so the reports say).

I would take this story with a grain of salt.

The original story was in Corriere dello sport. Kaka has had this problem for a year or so now (so the reports say).

I would take this story with a pinch of salt.

I dont believe that he will be out for months, but is undeniable that Kaka performances dropped a lot and he is not the same this season, he may need a rest. If Benitez makes too much rotation, Ancelotti NEVER does it. Does Kaka ever has a week off?

It's a tragedy...players are barely able to maintain their peak form for 2-3 seasons nowadays, without a serious injury or two. The amount of football is becoming ridiculous.

But anyway, I popped in to post this link, which says Milan are interested in Villarreal's (pretty good) goalkeeper Diego Lopez:

Good news for Arsenal fans: reports suggest Kaka and Pato will be out for the Arsenal game.

Pato has been told 20 days rest. I will update the news on Kaka as it becomes available.
