Hmm...we would be signing him as a sub for Kaka or Pirlo (even though Deco doesn't sit that far back) I guess.

Is he a part of Rijkaard's first XI? Is he part of Barca's plans? Great player.

Yes, I think some of the "directivos" wanted to sell him because his attitude last season but Rijkaard & Txiki said that he is vital for the team. Great player, one of the best of our squad when he's on form <Ale>

With all due respect, the Deco thing was pure media speculation. He has never been named as a prime target. Your team is definitely good and has exceptional players, but we are the champions of Europe and the Champions League's most successful club side in the last 20 years, so it's not as if we would be willing to take your rejects. At most those players (Motta, Belletti, and Ezquerro ) would be our squad players.

We could go for many better options in Italy, and Italians (who, IMO, are almost always amongst the best footballers in the world) at that.

He should buy a striker and a LB, the left back being the priority IMO.

Also, i really hope Gourcuff gets to play a lot more this year.

Really?? For most of the season (till Kaka lit up the KO stages of the CL) I thought Janku was your best player last season... a few defensive mistakes, sure, but he is awesome going forward... very much like Zambrotta IMO... With him, Kaladze, and Serginho, I don't think you need another LB unless its a kid for succession planning....

Some quotations from Kaka today (during a press conference):

"I see myself as the symbol of Milan, and I want to be a symbol of this team."

"The door to Real isn't closed because it was never open."

    ---

    calciomercato

Kaka has said in a press conference that he has never requested a rescindable clause, and he trusts what Berlusconi has said about the future. He also added that he has a contract until 2011, and if Milan want to keep him he will stay here. Finally, on a philosophical note, he says money is not everything in life.

You've been in for Pato for a while. Marca is trying to save face with quotations like "I only want Real" because the Madrid press is trying to make amends for the Kaka lies.

If you guys do get Pato, it won't be because he wants to only play for you, but rather that the three other teams (Inter, Chelsea, and Milan) don't want him as badly.

Berlusconi said that Milan are observing two players, and he hopes one of them at least will be able to play with Milan.

That is how it comes across in Italian.

Rather arrogant of you to say. I think it is just too painful for you to imagine that someone might possibly not want to play for the "best Champions League team of the last 20 years." Anyhow, we don't need Pato.

Jaime, you're a sensible chap, and one of my favourite posters here, but I am being accused of arrogance by a fan of a club which treats its own employees and other clubs with complete contempt? You lot make Silvio Berlusconi appear stately, and that takes some doing.

I was just highlighting that Marca are up to their usual fabrications, and I said "it won't be because he ONLY wants to play for you". That quotation seems made up. But maybe it isn't...who knows. Time will tell.

The implication of your statement is that Real Madrid could only possibly be the player's third or fourth choice and we would only get him if he is rejected by everyone else.

I know you resent us over the whole Kaka saga and that is fine. But some of your anti-Madrid posts are getting ridiculous.

The implication is that Pato does not ONLY want to play for Real, and that if he goes to you it will not be because he ONLY wants to play for you, but rather that the other teams cooled off their interest.

Why do I say that? Because Milan, Chelsea, and Inter have tracked the player for quite some time, and therefore are believed to be in pole position.

Will I lose sleep if Real get Pato? No. But for Marca to come up with this a day after Berlusconi confirms interest in the player is a bit too coincidental.

Does the world revolve around Milan? No, but the Madrid press seems to.

Well I'm not Spanish so maybe I don't know, but they seem to be the pro-Madrid papers. The thing is that Gazzetta, though very partisan when it comes to Milan and Inter, is still respected in Italy (though some hate its languague). And then soccernet etc. quote AS. So to me it doesn't seem like a dirty tabloid, but maybe it is.

    @Forza

All I'm saying is when Corriere dello Sport, for example, writes that Milan want Cannavaro -- I don't take it personally. I don't blame Milan for what the paper writes.

AS write a lot of bullsh!t but from time to time they are more accurate than some people want to admit. Marca generally do good reporting. Either way, they are just rumours and I don't see why people (not just you) get so offended when they read a story that involves their club or a player from their club.

Fair enough. I normally don't always rebut what AS writes, but when Target Man starts a thread entitled "Kaka forces Real move", and seems 100% serious about it, I feel the need to respond (though even then, I think, I didn't).

Last summer, a lot of Real fans wanted Milan relegated so they could get Kaka. If there was a match-fixing scandal in Spain, I would not want Real or Barcelona relegated just so that we could get their players because it would hurt the footballing community. Wishing for them to lose 7-0 is one thing, but to see their team torn apart is quite another.

I can still see AS tomorrow say something like Kaka's press conference is a cryptic message that he wants to move away. Why? Because he said I will only move away if Milan sell me. Cue a 500 million euro offer.
