    Donderdag presentatie Kevin Hofland

    What a day cheers

NOS (the Dutch equivalent of the BBC) reports on their CEEFAX (teletekst) that Roy Makaay will be presented tomorrow (Thursday) as Feyenoord's next signing (assuming he passes his medical).

So who will we sign Friday? Koevermans? Perez? Samaras? Landzaat? would be dispapointed if it would be nobody, getting spoiled by / accustomed to 1 signing a day.

It's amazing, feels like I'm dreaming.

Think the new found money is partly due to GKL's departure and partlydue to the hype around Drenthe. He's in the first investor player fund (with Bruins and a few others). The people who have invested in that fund will surely get a profit (part of the profit goes to the club as well).

Heard there are lots of people wanting to invest in other funds (each fund has approx 6 players). The 3rd fund is nearly full now. Well it looks like this is the way we can stay independent (and not owned by some foreign billionaire, who gives f@ck all about the club, but just wants a toy) get players and never loose money on them (we only get a share of the profit).

Seems after countless years things are going forward seriously. Kudo's to whoever started this scheme at Feyenoord (some other clubs started it earlier). Can't wait until we get our new Kuip with 3 rings.

Wow, Feyenoord have been busy in the last few days!

How do these player funds work? Is it fans who are investing in them and how much do people put into them? It sounds like an interesting concept and one that is presumably working quite well.

Don't know the exact figure, but I think you need to put in something like 1M euro or more. Basically they find people/investors who have this kind of money (and feel something for the club, that makes it easier to convince them). They use the gathered money to buy players. In a fund (figures are guesstimates) they have say 6 players bought for 25M. If those players are sold with a profit, the investors get a share and the club gets a share. If they don't make any money, the investors loose money (the club doesn't). If 1 fund is full they set up a next one.

It's not entirely clear how much power the investors have when a serious transferfee is offered. That's the main trade-off. I know a few other clubs where the investors pushed the club to sell players, the club didn't want to sell. But I guess you can define the rules, the way you want it. Though the more benefial the rules will be to the club, the harder it will be to get money.

Most of the investors have some affinity with Feyenoord though. Could well be they just want something new to talk about at parties. "I've got a stake in Drenthe, or whatever".

Yeah it feels so unreal, I mean we are Feyenoord....Will the pain finally leave?!? I mean its never been easy to be a Feyenoord supporter but last year was even to harsh for the biggest masochists Laughing

Will we finally return to where we belong now? God, I cant wait till the next season starts.

And the whole squad is Dutch as well Shocked Shocked Shocked

Jona, maybe this year Feyenoord will do even better then Arsenal!!! Think about that.

    @Sheffield

Its a risky investment. People can put money on our talents, and when we sell them they get a share of their money back+profit!

With this money we can buy experienced/quality players our team lacked.

That's interesting, I didn't know that you had this in place. To be honest it makes a lot of sense in the Dutch league. There is a lot of potential for sides like Feyenoord to sign talented young players for relatively low figures, and if they are a success to then sell them at an inflated price to teams in the bigger leagues, like the Premiership and La Liga.

Yep amazing. We're certainly doing better on the transfermarket.

Fully agree with the Buy Dutch policy. Makes a lot of sense, no chance of a player not adapting, fans want players they can identify with & they're more used to the tactics we play. And Dutch players are good value for money.

It's also a good way to keep our own youth talents longer. Our youth academy is on par with Ajax now (until 10 years ago Feyenoord neglected it's youth development, it's priority 1 now. Really glad with that why spend millions on a single player when you can use the same money to train an entire team of talented youngsters. ). We need to keep our own homegrown boys as long as possible.

    29-06-2007
